It is not enough that you should understand about applied science
in order that your work may increase man’s blessings. Concern for
man himself and his fate must always form the chief interest of all
technical endeavors .

Computer Ethics
 Ethics is the branch of philosophy concerned with
what’s right and what’s wrong.
 Computer ethics deals with moral dilemmas and the
ethical principles for computer professionals.

autonomously to threats –real or perceived –may cause loss of life and
property due to mistaken decisions.
 Threats to privacy : Highly intelligent systems are used to spy on all
electronic conversation.
 Lack of empathy: The lack of empathy in computers may cause
feelings of alientation and devaluation.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND ETHICAL PROBLEMS
• Rise of sentient machines : Self aware machines are now quite possible
to create ,the debate about their desirability is relevant.
 Possible job loss due to computerisation .
 Environmental damage due to improper disposal of computers and its
parts.
 Issues regarding ownership of software.
 Health conditions like carpel tunnel syndrome (CTS) and computer
vision syndrome(CVS).
Problems arising out of use of computers for ethical
purpose
carpel tunnel syndrome (CTS)
Carpal tunnel syndrome is numbness, tingling ,weakness , and
other problems in your hand because of pressure on the median
nerve in your wrist.
Computer vision syndrome(CVS).
Computer Vision Syndrome, also referred to as Digital Eye
Strain, describes a group of eye and vision-related problems that
result from prolonged computer, tablet, e-reader and cell phone use.
D r. Ramon C. Barquin of the computer ethics institute formulated a set of ten
commandments for ethical computing .They are,
 Thou shalt not use a computer to harm other people .
 Thou shalt not interfere with other people’s computer work.
 Thou shalt not snoop around in other people’s computer files.
