PROFESIONNAL EXPERIENCE
Sept 2010- to date USAID Power Distribution Program (PDP) Islamabad
Team Lead Gender Strategy Assigned to work with the power distribution organizations in towards
developing gender equity, increasing the representation of women in the workforce through development
of gender strategies focusing on capacity building, women empowerment, while sensitizing the
organizations about gender issues. Under this gender equity mandate, executed a gender assessment of the
distribution business sector institutions to identify gender issues and developed the Action Plans needed to
address them. Conceptualization of Action Plans, designing of the projects and implementation of the
projects. While focusing gender strategy development as a cross-cutting activity, responding to the
indicators set out by the United States Government (USG), to measure the progress and capacity building
of women under USG-assisted programs. The designed and implemented projects provide an opportunity
for working women in the power sector to come together to share and reflect on their experiences, and to
develop their understanding of how to grow professionally and personally in order to achieve their long
term goals.
• Develop an understanding of gender equity issues in the workplace
• Help cultivate a new mind set concerning communication and interaction with female employees.
• Raise awareness among participants concerning the role “gender” plays in three critical areas:
- Employment
- Career Development, and
- Workplace Conditions.
Internship Program Task Lead : Project designing and successful execution of Internship Program - the
establishing a scholar’s engagement plan - to bring on board freshly qualified Masters and Graduates in
different fields. This program fully helped in the improvement of core operations and governance of power
distribution business, through infusion of young professionals in the Internship Program, who served as a
means of developing prospective employees. This program has demonstrated the public sector, particularly
power distribution companies to attract and engage new talent with appropriate skills to be the paradigm of
change and corporatization of these organizations and the overall power sector. The Internship Program
served a dual purpose; firstly it streamlined the distribution companies’ existing internship system and
secondly, it contributed towards achieving a productive and gender friendly working environment.
The Internship Program demonstrate a cost effective means of extending much required support to the core
operations in the areas of finance, commercial, technical and engineering, HR and IT by bringing on board
young and professionally qualified interns for a period of 18 – 20 months, thus deficiency of human capital
in MEPCO and PESCO was addressed
Keeping in view the gender aspect, PDP inducted almost 40% women in the internship program. They have
rendered commendable services in Planning & Engineering sections, supported GIS, LDI projects, and
many contributed in the implementation of ERP in the Finance while some others contributed in MIS, HR,
IT LABs and at Data Entry Offices.
Furthermore, had been actively involved with the Director Finance and supported the Procurement Section
and recruitments during the initial of PDP.
June 2007 – Mar 2010 Agence Française de Développement (AFD) Islamabad
Project Manager: Identifying and interfacing with the public and private sector counterparts that could
benefit from AFD loans; in-charge of project during the life time of projects: appraisal, loans negotiations,
lifting of conditions to disbursements; organise technical and supervision missions from headquarters
concerning the ongoing projects; Preparation of information reports about the sectors to be focused upon as
per AFD’s mandate in Pakistan; i.e Energy Efficiency, Health sector, Biodiversity. Also provide analytical
support to complete all the required due diligences on the project file, before its submission to the board for
approval. Have extensive experience of dealing with the public sector organisations at federal government
level and I am familiar with their administrative procedures.
July 2006- Mid-June 2007 Alandick Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd Islamabad
Business Development Manager: Develop customer relations within the telecom market in Pakistan; to
identify prioritize and pursue new and existing opportunities; formulation of Business Development
Strategy; Responsible for market and technology research, presentations to customers re products and
services of AlanDick. Liaise with group to review product offerings to the market place.
2. Nov 2004 – July2006 AlanDick Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd. Lahore Branch
Manager Commercial and Procurement: Scope of Work included: short listing subcontractors;
commercial negotiations of all project related goods and services while ensuring cost reduction to improve
revenues; identifying blockages and improving the efficiency and effectiveness for timely supply of goods.
Liaising with QC/ Production/ Logistics Manager/ Project Managers to ensure all deliverables are met in
time and in accordance to the specifications;
At corporate level in order to acquire ISO 2000 for ADPK: i) formulated the objectives for the
Procurement department, ii) Established Procurement Processes for the release of Purchase Orders; iii)
Established procedures for the preparation, authorization and control of ADPK Procurements.
Being commercial Manager I was responsible for the marketing of the products developed by Alan Dick
Group of Companies. (SENSUTECH and other monitoring Systems)
June 2001-June 2004: Diyatech Corp. California - Software Development Company Paris Branch
Business Development Manager: promoting and marketing Diyatech Corp's IT activities in Europe, in
order to obtain outsourcing and co-development contracts.
Scope of assignment included identifying and contacting business leaders potentially interested in
outsourcing the development of their software to Diyatech Corp, obtaining specifications, coordinating
with Diyatech’s technical and commercial teams for the preparation of offers and solutions for corporate
customers. Also includes pricing and commercial contract negotiations.
May 2000 - Mar 01: Nortel Networks (Asia) Ltd. Islamabad Branch
Contract Manager (Operations) : Interfaced with attorneys, auditors and banks for the registration of
Nortel Network’s local office in Pakistan. Managed Commercial Operations of the GSM 900 Project
signed with PTML (Pakistan Telecom Mobile Company) negotiated Project Insurance; coordinated all
on-shore and off-shore deliveries; set up Invoicing Procedures for all the contracts; prepared Project
Progress Reports and Billing summaries. Negotiated all sub-contracts with OEMs; providing sales support
to local Key Account Managers. Preparation of activity forecasts for the Business Planning Department in
Singapore.
Sep. 99 - Apr. 2000: Al Fajr International: Consultants Islamabad
Business Development Manager: Responsible for the preparation of bids/offers to potential clients, as
well coordination and follow-up of on-going projects. Customers included, amongst others, PERELLI
Cable Systems, C.S Telecoms, BOSCH. Coordinating with all related departments of PTCL and Ministry
of Communications.
Feb 98 - June 99: Independent Consultant: Provided advisory services to various telecom companies on commercial aspects
of their telecom projects in Pakistan. Preparation of presentations on Overview of Telecommunication
infrastructure in Pakistan.

Business Development Manager: Leading the relationship with the Strategic Planning Division of
corporate and institutional clients, defining the potential projects in coordination with relevant Business

Jan 89 - Aug 1996: Participated and assisted Alcatel ESPACE Division in all the negotiations for the
PAKSAT project from 1992 till 1998 (for the launch of a satellite by Pakistan). Coordinating with Alcatel
ESPACE team, Pakistan Telecom Authority, Ministry of Communications and ITU Radio
Telecommunication Bureau for the Frequency Allocation regarding allocation and continuation of space
slot for PAKSAT.
