When Paul Ehrlich first described these cells, which were abundant near
small blood vessels and nerves and in sub-epithelial tissues, he
incorrectly flagged them as ‘well fed’ connective tissue elements with
acidic granules which he thought provided nutrition to nearby tissue.
Hence, he named these cells with a German root word which denotes
feeding or fattening, such as fattening animals and this root is also used
for a part in humans which has a similar function.

Studies to try this device found that there was significant improvement in bilirubin,

A very interesting theory about the use of a particular term (which is usually
used to denote the brain) for referring to another region goes that it was
because earlier people believed that the seat of thinking was present in this
area. This is supported by the observation that in a lot of cultures, people
often touch this region while they ponder - the most famous example of this
being a famous statue by Rodin.
However, this theory does not seem to be true and most etymologists believe
that the word emerged from an Indo-European root word for ‘protruberance’.

● Membrane Associated Ring-CH-Type Finger 1 is a gene belonging to a family of
ubiquitin ligases which downregulates the surface expression of MHC class II
molecules and other glycoproteins by directing them to the late endosomal /
lysosomal compartment. Abnormalities in this are associated with diseases
including cerebellar hypoplasia, renal dysplasia and anhydramnios.
● In August 2020, the Human Gene Nomenclature Committee announced that
there would a slight change in the nomenclature of this gene. Genes belonging
the Septin group of GTPases, which are required for cytokinesis also were

● These changes were brought about because something that most researchers

known as Canary Trap) used by intelligence agencies to find whether a suspected
person was a double agent. The basic premise is to reveal a secret to a
suspected enemy (but nobody else) then monitor whether there is evidence of
the fake information being utilised by the other side. For example, a popular
story goes that the chiefs at Apple fed employees with different pieces of
information about a fictional product called Asteroid and waited to see which
information got leaked.
