Throughout the course of a mere few decades, the makeup of the U.S. and its citizens has immensely evolved. Along with colossal diversity, ergo "The
Melting Pot," abolishment of limited lifestyle choices occurred in the twenty–first century, sanctioning infinite opportunities to citizens of any racial
/cultural background. A myriad of options pertaining to religion, education, housing, and employment are now available in America. Despite the

For example, many believe financial status acts as a direct representation of how happy a person is with his or her own life. This, however, rings
entirely untrue. What determines whether or not a person has been successful in the means of reaching happiness is not as simple as being a major
CEO with billions of dollars in the bank. Often, those striving to reach fulfillment through the ownership of fancy cars, designer clothes, and stacks of
cash, will end up being the unhappiest. Provided that, once the previously desired monetary status is met, greed will only propel the pursuer further,
making them desperate to acquire as much material possession as possible. Admittedly, studies recently showed that acquiring a certain amount of
income does indeed buy happiness. However, this study defines "happiness" in terms of living a comfortable life with the ability to pay for basic
needs: education, food, shelter, clothing, and occasional leisure pass–times. This amount of money, however, is not consistent throughout America.
Different economic conditions and cultural standards tend to have an influence in determining the differences between middle–class and poverty.

The United states is viewed as a melting pot where cultures and people from all over the world come together and form communities where there
cultures and lifestyles intermingle. Whether or not their culture survives the americanization that comes along with moving to the "melting pot" is a
different question altogether. Food is one of the main points that allows students to see how integrated the cultures are in their society. Many citizens
do not make the connection and realize that many foods that were introduced to this country years and years ago were by immigrants that traveled to
many areas and brought their traditions and cuisines from their native countries. Things like lifestyle, religion, practices, food, and other issues also are
largely affected by the immigration to the United States.
Most citizens believe that Latino food consists of Taco Bell and are not aware of the rich Latino food options that are available to them in the Richmond
Community in California, U.S.A. The reason being that most citizens are not able to tell the difference between Americanized Latino food and
authentic. Other examples include things like Panda Express, Rumbi, Pizza Hut, Tokyo Joe's, and other restaurant chains that indirectly americanize

In this paper, I will argue that although many believe it is advantageous to teach children colorblindness to race, it is essential for them to recognize
the racial differences in society. America is traditionally known as "the melting pot" because our society encompasses all cultures representing every
country in the world. There is no doubt that race is one of the most central topics in American culture. How do we expect children to disregard the
obscure differences they observe in school, at the playground and in media? Some well–intended parents believe that their children should no longer

I want you to close your eyes for a minute. Now think about an average American. Think about what is their race. Are they short or tall? What about
their gender or age? Were they born in America? Or are they an immigrant?
Individuals from all over the globe travel to America to escape religious persecution, economic problems, and to have a chance at moving up in the
social ladder. All of the different races from all over the world migrate to one common place, America. In some cases, immigrants are welcomed by
Americans, and in other cases, we see immigrants as a threat to our livelihood. From the 19th century to today, this same idea has been repeated many
times. A melting pot theory describes a hypothetical explanation for a country's ethnic groups engaging in a process of acculturation. On the other hand,
a salad bowl theory describes an explanation for ethnic groups not conforming to mainstream culture. When it comes to a melting pot theory, all of the
cultures blend together perfectly while there is little space for cultural diversity. In a salad bowl, cultures do not mix even though they are in the

The Melting Pot America is known as the land of the free and a place full of opportunity, which is what attracts the forty million foreigners that reside
in the United States today. When the first settlers came to America from Europe, they came to start a new world and a new country together. Even

These Americans want to keep their culture unmixed with other ethnic groups. For instance, White Americans once segregated African Americans. Not
only are African Americans segregated, but other races are segregated as well. Daniel Thames, a author from the Washington News states, "But yet, you
witness this persistence of segregation [in all races], the fragmentation, all these fights over resources, this finger–pointing. You would have to be blind
not to see it" (Thames 2). It seems although there are indeed immigrants from other countries, that actually makes competition for resources (such as
jobs) for Americans harder. Therefore, some Americans are not interested in seeing another immigrants' culture. In fact, some Americans may dislike
immigrants for taking resources from them. . Metaphorically, this represents Americans trying to put a lid over the melting pot, so that no races enter

It is absolutely necessary that the people of this nation grasp the cultural, ethnic and religious differences of the people that make up this nation and of
the surrounding nations. America since 1908 has been called The Melting Pot, a place where people from diverse backgrounds can come and

A Good Example Of The Melting Pot Theory
More times than not when immigrants come to a new country they will look for places and spaces where their friends and family live. These places
known as ethnic enclaves are "areas of cities where immigrants of the same ethnic background congregate to create social and economic opportunities
for themselves" (Chen 221). In other words when people from the same culture live in the same area of a city they tend to stick together and work with
each other; they also tend to have their own enclave economy as immigrants hire each other and create jobs for themselves. A perfect example of an
ethnic enclave is Little Havana in Miami, Florida. Cuban immigrant settled in Miami and instead of wasting time in the secondary labor market, they
created their own firms and hired new fellow immigrants creating their own labor market. The melting pot theory is "a metaphor that implies the
melting of cultures and intermarriage for ethnicities; a cultural assimilation of immigrants into one new land" (United States Bureau of the Census 1). A
good example of the melting pot theory is the country of Colombia; a melting pot of races and ethnicities. The population is derived from three
