Paper On Volunteering
Volunteering is such a self–fulfilling action that a person can carry out in their community. Volunteering in a public or private institution is such a
magnificent stepping stone in life, volunteers learn multiple skills that can be used throughout the rest of their lives. Ever since 2011, my summers
were spent volunteering at the Westland Area Public Library assisting community members register and receive awards for the summer reading
program. This volunteering experience assisted me in acquiring social skills, the ability to work efficiently, and the ability to work with others as a
team. A skill that was acquired while volunteering was having social skills, being able to talk to people, ask questions, answer questions, being polite,
friendly and professional. First of all, since the volunteer work involved signing up community members, us volunteers had to greet them and assist
them register. This activity assisted me realize how important it was to be polite and patient, especially when younger kids wanted to sign up. When
the people that were signing up came up to the desk and talked in a friendly way, everyone present was comfortable and the conversation became...show

Being able to get work done is an essential skill and ability that everyone must have due to the fact that in the future when people have to make a
living they have to be able to meet deadlines and finish a day's work in order to get paid. Not committing errors is also very important, no one would
hire someone that constantly makes mistakes. Someone that makes mistakes creates a bad image for the institution, and it ruins the chance of people
coming back, as a volunteer one must take pride in the institution as if they were a real worker because the institution is providing the individual with a
chance to learn skills that will help them later

Volunteering/Bronze Award
Volunteering as a Girl Scout provides ways to develop leadership skills and giving back to the community that they live in. Girls can volunteer by
themselves or with their troop. By themselves, girls can become a grand friend at a nursing home or assisted living facility by regular visiting to play
games with the residents. They can go no further than their own rooms by going through gently used toys and clothes that they no longer use and give
to a children's organization. They can do errands or even cook for someone in their family or neighborhood that may be facing an illness. As a troop,
girls can bring holiday cheer by caroling at nursing homes, hospitals and other facilities. They can make no sew dog toys, raise funds to buy food and
supplies for an animal shelter. They can also pick up litter in a wildlife area or park and do a beach cleanup.
Volunteering provides great benefits to girls personally and they can earn service hours toward theirschool requirements and Girl Scout awards. It

I have been a Girl Scout for five years. We have volunteered and done community service in many ways. We do annual holiday caroling at a local
assisted living/nursing home and the residents enjoy and look forward to it. We collected soda can tabs and gave them to a local Ronald
McDonald House as a troop. These tabs were able to be recycled in exchange for money and put back into their organization for children and
families. We have also donated gentle used clothes to a local children's organization and Girl Scout cookies to a local foster and adoptive parents
association. Volunteering gives me mixed emotions. To see people in need makes me sad but helping them makes me feel so happy. I love helping
people because I know that I am capable and have something to offer and I am determined to help them. As a troop, I enjoy the time we spend
together giving back and it helps us do

High School Volunteering Essay
Throughout high school, I was involved in many different organizations that were either designed for volunteering or had a volunteering component,
among them: Peer Helpers, a club where juniors and seniors mentored seventh through ninth graders; Youth Service, a club dedicated to volunteering at
school fundraisers and the local Salvation Army; and National Honors Society, through which I volunteered at the nursing home as well as Christmas
festivals. In college, I am part of a club called Volunteers Involved Through Action (VITA). While VITA contains many different core volunteering
activities, the one that I participate in is mentoring at–risk youth at the local Boys and Girls Club once a week for three hours at a time. At the Boys

Volunteering Plan
Volunteering is one of the many ways to give back to a community and the people within it. When a person volunteers it is normally because he or she
wants to repay the community in which he or she currently resides. Not only does it give back to the community, but it also helps establish new
relationships with people within that community. Lending a hand to someone in need is something that should be identified as an important task,
rather than being understood as a burden. Whether it is feeding the homeless people or helping rid the highways of litter, there are many ways to
provide assistance to someone in need. I plan to volunteer at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital as a Unit Buddy and I will develop many benefits such as

It may seem that volunteering is too much work or too time consuming. However, it is not about the volunteer. It is about the person and community
affected by the work. When one volunteers, it should be done out of the goodness of his or her heart, not because of the benefits that result from it.
People should help others who are in need as they would want someone to help them if they were in need. I believe that in order for a community to
thrive, people must help his or her fellow man, regardless of what it is. I look forward to volunteering at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital so I can help
children who are in pain and in need of a

The Importance of Volunteerism Essay
In social science, economists argue that people act in their personal best interest; in contrast, volunteers willingly share their talents and provide
services to others with no obligation or any incentive for personal gain. Volunteers have made significant contributions to charitable, educational, and
worthwhile causes within a small community to foreign countries with no boundaries. Undeniably, the exchange of thoughts and experiences are
extended through the volunteer process. With flexibility in time and summer vacations, university students are a large majority in the volunteer force

Unquestionably QDC had been a mediator to my temporary liberation from the demanding academic work deadlines and hectic exam schedules. In
addition to my involvement on campus, I spent my sophomore summer as a volunteer in Kenya. During this trip I had the privilege to meet new friends
around the world, exchanged thoughts on social issues with others, and witnessed the exotic African culture. Indeed, involvement in volunteerism and
additional activities provide a source of stress relief, expand connections to people with common interest, and enhance the memories of the university
student life. A larger sense of community is encouraged from student volunteers and their contribution in their extracurricular activities. My roles as a
university student volunteer in the medical field had leaded me into a more caring person with high intention to contribute to the society for a better
overall being in the district. At the Kingston General Hospital, I put in efforts to interact with a diverse group of patients from children to seniors by
providing meal assistance, company, and care. In addition, I tried to reach out to the minor disability group in the Kingston community by dedicating
every Monday mornings at downtown Kingston H'art Studio to assist Down syndrome adults with learning of literacy and coping with changes in their
lives. Furthermore, my travelling abroad to Kenya in summer 2008 with a group of university students were planned to assist the process of improving

"Volunteers are not paid; not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless."– Sherry Anderson (Volunteering Quotes: Finest Quotes). On
average, when people think about community service, they assume that volunteering is just 'hours we need to be able to graduate' and that is it.
Community service is more than just hours; community service is based on the acts performed by someone with the purpose of helping or bringing
benefits to his or her community. People frequently compare community service as a punishment since it is often offered to small–time offenders as an
alternative to fines or jail time. However, community service is the vital force to many communities since they depend on the service made by the

Volunteering in your community helps solve many dilemmas in your community that descend through the eyes of government and social agencies
(Everything you ever wanted to know about volunteering). Discussing about volunteering to teenagers should be the first step for a better life, since
teenagers are the future of tomorrow and they will leave a mark from yesterday. Volunteering has been such an important matter, that schools in many
countries around the world established that 12th grade students will need certain hours of community service in order to graduate. But the frequent
answers all the schools are getting are "Why do I need to volunteer? I have better things to do!" What people are forgetting is that each one of them is
part of a community, a community that is not perfect and that the government sometimes forgets about their problems or needs, because obviously the
government needs to take care of other things that require more attention. People are not only helping others, they are also helping themselves
(Volunteering). Volunteering is not a new subject now, but people did not perceive it before because as time goes by, volunteering is becoming more
and more popular since each year more people volunteer. Volunteering began around the early 19th century since America was experimenting with the
Great Awakening. The Great Awakening was a period in which the importance of the church was slowly dying and instead the

Volunteering "Where there is charity and wisdom, there is neither fear nor ignorance."
Volunteering is an experience everyone should have at least once in their life. By showing kindness, I was impacted in a way, which I was not
expecting. Kindness is a universal language, understood in each country, comprehended through all boundaries. No acts of kindness are disregarded.
By showing compassion and kindness, not only does it affect another person, but it will reflect into your unique characteristics and behaviours. It
instils a positive mindset and allows us to spread the message. Volunteering is defined as, "a person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or

It honestly was not an inconvenience, and provided with the opportunity again, I would jump at the chance. Truthfully, visiting Freemason's home
made my day.
For the second visit to the elderly home, I was paired with three men, and two of my peers. We discussed their lives and ours, over an extremely
intricate puzzle. It was great to talk to someone that was not my age, and was wise beyond their years. One man talked about his job as an engineer,
and asked about what career path we were considering pursuing. Slightly before our departure from the home, one man show us a picture of his
deceased wife from his wallet. As he told us about her, through his trembling voice, you could tell the immense love he felt for her, and the pain he was
in. We thanked him for feeling strong enough to share it with us, and since then he's stayed imprinted on my memory. It was a beautiful story, and
my heart felt warm afterwards. The food bank was one of my favourite STRIVE afternoons. We were introduced to the initiative and their message,
and immediately got to work. We had certain foods requirements for each box and needed to work efficiently in order to complete the assigned
tasks. While packing the boxes, I could reflect on the change we were making in those families lives. They relied on this food, and I couldn't help but
feel like I was directly contributing to their lives. I may not have seen them or even known them, but I knew I was helping,

Volunteer Force Essay
I am an asset to the volunteer force because I have realized what it means to become an adult. It is challenging myself by stepping out of my comfort
zone and wondering how can I become a better person before asking others to change. Since I have made this revelation, I have started seeing
everything with new eyes. I am much more grateful for what I have and I am eager to share my thoughts and time with the world. While there are
multiple ways of practicing what I preach, this volunteering opportunity will be by far the most effective. Instead of spending my summers on myself, I
will dedicate the time to others. I must admit that a year ago, the thought of applying to such a prestigious volunteer organization would have never
crossed my mind

Persuasive Essay On Mandatory Volunteering
Would you consider volunteering a passion? Will you consider volunteering more if you knew it was for your grade? "One very specific reason to tie
volunteer work to education is that teen volunteers are more likely to succeed academically than teens who don't volunteer" (Paragraph 5). To help a
teen to be good for society, schools should make volunteering mandatory. Mandatory volunteering is seen as a good thing for teens because theyВґre
helping the community. However, volunteering is when you decide to do something good to help someone out of the kindness of your heart but most
teens don't want to and don't even think about it. When it comes to mandatory volunteering for teenagers, the argument goes for volunteering the Point
article, "Give Teens Some Work to Do! It's Good for Them and Everyone Else" by the Studysync Curriculum because of its effective use of research
and quoting professional organizations.
The article "Give Teens Some Work to Do! It's Good for Them and Everyone Else" by the Studysync Curriculum is the most convincing because it
uses the argumentative strategies: effective research and quoting professional organizations. Firstly, an example of a strategy that makes this article
more convincing us the effective research the article provides. " Finally, the United Way says that volunteering improves people's health and helps to
make a difference in someone's life" (Paragraph 4). In other words, it is better if the volunteer hours are part of teens school curriculum. This makes a
convincing argument because it states the research they found and also includes a professional organization which proves someone professional
proved it . This helps to make the argument convincing because most people will rely on professional statements and if they are proven by someone
that did the research and studies it which means they know a lot about that.Additionally, another strategy that makes this article persuasive is the article
quoting professional organizations. "Back in 2005 , a collaborative study conducted by the corporation for National and Community Service and the
U.S Census Bureau revealed that students who do better in school are most likely to be volunteers ВЁ (Paragraph 5). In other words

I Want To Be A Volunteer Essay
I believe that kindness and compassion are like a domino sequence. Once a person does a nice thing to someone else, the next person will also try
to do something nice, and a chain of good actions that will cross neighborhoods, cities maybe even travel around the globe. Since I was a kid
nothing pleasures me more than helping others. I've always knew that I wanted to be a volunteer, just like my mom always knew she wanted to be a
doctor (and now she is an amazing one). I made my definitive decision of becoming a volunteer when I was 6 years old. Every year I collected
clothes and toys and took them to an orphanage. That time it was around Christmas and my mom let me stay and give the toys to the children. I never

They tough me not just history or science, which is also important, they tough me something else. They gave me life lessons, every one of then left a
mark and changed my way of thinking forever. My grandparents included, since they were both teachers, although I never met them, the memory of
how much they loved and respected every single person, and the fact that the students and coworker from where they taught named a building after
them inspires me to seek through learning more than just facts and mathematical formulas. They inspire me to use it as a tool to do something good in
the world and inspire others to do the same. So in the spirit of this eternal pursuit of knowledge I think that a Traditional college is the right choice
for what I want. I am really curious and there are several things I would like to learn along with college. Since I have a reasonable class rank and the
will to learn a Traditional college seems the appropriate fit for me. My plan in life is to be a volunteer, and I have to face it there are no colleges that
teache volunteering or a specific set of goals that I can follow. But I also think it is important to think ahed. If someday I wish to settle down, perhaps
start a family, a good degree and a career wouldn't be bad.And although I can't really get a degree on volunteering, I think getting one in children's
psychology will help me play an even more active and important role as a volunteer in

Volunteering and its Affect on My Life Volunteering has deeply scorched life changing experiences in my life. During my experience as a volunteer,
I volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer based organization that constructs, and renovates homes for people that
were recently in a natural disaster, deeply in need, and for people who are in need of a stable place to live without being scared of being evicted.
While volunteering for Habitat for Humanity I have learned vast amounts of valuable knowledge about how what I do affects the people I help,
construction experience, safety, attitudes, and social skills. Not only have I learned how I affect other people, but I have also noticed that volunteering

Gallup is explaining how volunteering can cost some in the beginning, but in turn can produce more money than imagined. In my case volunteering
cost me time, and money but volunteering ultimately gave me valuable work experience, and also a potential career path. While trying to benefit
another I have benefitted myself in the process. Not only did I learn skills in construction, I learned lessons in safety that will continue to benefit me
though my entire life.
During my volunteering I also learned safety experience that I can use in my daily life. Habitat for Humanity also states, " While most Habitat housing
is new, some of our local affiliates rehabilitate older housing...this practice may expose construction workers and homeowners to lead from lead–based
paint" ("Habitat for Humanity"). Hands on experience while I was volunteering taught me about the dangers that could come from renovating older
homes. Rigorous training has taught me how to be safe in this work environment. I can hold this safety experience for the rest of my life and apply it
to any job I consider pursuing in the future. The article "Teens Who Make a Difference"George Gallup states how Amondo Redmond has made his
town more safe due to his volunteering: Amondo Redmond grew up in a tough, crime–ridden neighborhood in Flint, Michigan .When he was 6 years

Speech About Volunteering
"The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others", very true words written by Mahatma Gandhi. Volunteering has always
been something I loved doing. When a teacher needed help, I was the first to raise my hand. If someone needed their kid watched, I was the girl for
the job. However, one particular instance always stuck with me. My story starts out like most other stories, my FFA Advisor, Mr. Kuster signed us up
to pack buddy packs for kids around Missouri at the Missouri State Fair. The event had a cute name, "Food Insecurity Day", and we got T–shirts and a
Scavenger Hunt to complete. When "Food Insecurity Day" rolled around, myself and other FFA Members from around the state gathered around to
listen to how what we were doing was really making a difference. Of course, you always hear about the difference you are going to make, but
sometimes it can be hard to believe. The day went fast. We washed our hands quickly and put on hair nets. We packed multiple items for the children,
such as cereal bars, peanut bars, and fruit cups. We packed over 50,000 meals that day! Then I went on to have fun with my friends and did not really
think about it anymore. School started next week. My new cheer coach had asked if anyone would be interested in volunteering their time to help the
middle school squad learning the cheers. Being Varsity Cheer Co–Captain, I was more than happy to oblige. It was a no–brainer to help out because
cheer is one of my favorite

During the seminars we learned a lot about the volunteering needed in the Sartell and St. Cloud areas. Volunteering within in the communities will
not only make the organization a better place, but volunteering also will make the community and you, as person, better. They volunteering will be
different for each person depending on what location you go. I personally chose Saint Francis as my first choice, because I could be in an
elementary classroom. That really stuck out to me because I am leaning towards going to college for becoming a elementary teacher. My second
choice was then SMS, because I would still be able to get experience within in a school, and I was also very interested to see how I would like being in

Confidentiality is a very important concept to understand and practice, while volunteering. Confidentiality is when you keep things to yourself, and
you will be help responsible to know private information and to not share what you have been told. This is very important because when you are
working with kids you do not know what their story is and if you do, you do not know who they could be related to. So you need to keep anything
they say to you or that you find out to yourself, because that is private information. Unless, if the student is in danger at their home you should be able
talk to the teacher about what is going on. If there is something you think the teacher should know make sure to bring it up to them, but no one else.

Most students are required to do a certain amount of community service or volunteer hours. "Community service is one of the most popular
extracurricular activities for high school students to do in their free time". (Barge,"How Many Volunteers Do You Need for College"). Volunteering
can help students show the colleges they want to attend that they are a positive candidate for their college. Most students who volunteer are good
citizens and leaders, volunteering can show this to admission officers. One popular type of volunteering is fundraising to raise money for a cause. If an
individual participates in fundraising they can show colleges that they are responsible enough to handle money and be productive in a business
environment. Above all, volunteering causes students to be able to place a certain amount of hours on their resume the effect can be a college

My first experience with volunteering was chaos. I decided to volunteer for PM Academy because it was working with young kids. The first day I
was a little nervous because I didn't know what to expect from the kids. I walked into the classroom and over to the corner of the room to introduce
myself to Sue, the director of PM Academy. She told me that I would be working with the second grade students. She gave me a packet of worksheets
for the kids to work on and pointed me to the table where my class would be sitting. Sue told me to go ahead and sit at my table and she would bring
the students over. I was sitting at the table, looking at the worksheets when I saw Sue approaching me with four girls following close behind. They
all sat down at the table and I quickly noticed one thing; they did not want to sit close to me. This was the first speed bump. I passed out the
worksheets that Sue had given to me earlier and told them if they needed any help to just ask. I watched them work on the worksheets but every
time I tried to help one of the girls, she would scoot away. After cracking a few jokes to ease the tensions they began to accept my help even though
I have boy coodies. At the end of the day I felt like I had made a good impression on the kids and things should go even better next time.

Paper On Volunteering

  • 1. Paper On Volunteering Volunteering is such a self–fulfilling action that a person can carry out in their community. Volunteering in a public or private institution is such a magnificent stepping stone in life, volunteers learn multiple skills that can be used throughout the rest of their lives. Ever since 2011, my summers were spent volunteering at the Westland Area Public Library assisting community members register and receive awards for the summer reading program. This volunteering experience assisted me in acquiring social skills, the ability to work efficiently, and the ability to work with others as a team. A skill that was acquired while volunteering was having social skills, being able to talk to people, ask questions, answer questions, being polite, friendly and professional. First of all, since the volunteer work involved signing up community members, us volunteers had to greet them and assist them register. This activity assisted me realize how important it was to be polite and patient, especially when younger kids wanted to sign up. When the people that were signing up came up to the desk and talked in a friendly way, everyone present was comfortable and the conversation became...show more content... Being able to get work done is an essential skill and ability that everyone must have due to the fact that in the future when people have to make a living they have to be able to meet deadlines and finish a day's work in order to get paid. Not committing errors is also very important, no one would hire someone that constantly makes mistakes. Someone that makes mistakes creates a bad image for the institution, and it ruins the chance of people coming back, as a volunteer one must take pride in the institution as if they were a real worker because the institution is providing the individual with a chance to learn skills that will help them later Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. College Essay On Volunteering Volunteering/Bronze Award Volunteering as a Girl Scout provides ways to develop leadership skills and giving back to the community that they live in. Girls can volunteer by themselves or with their troop. By themselves, girls can become a grand friend at a nursing home or assisted living facility by regular visiting to play games with the residents. They can go no further than their own rooms by going through gently used toys and clothes that they no longer use and give to a children's organization. They can do errands or even cook for someone in their family or neighborhood that may be facing an illness. As a troop, girls can bring holiday cheer by caroling at nursing homes, hospitals and other facilities. They can make no sew dog toys, raise funds to buy food and supplies for an animal shelter. They can also pick up litter in a wildlife area or park and do a beach cleanup. Volunteering provides great benefits to girls personally and they can earn service hours toward theirschool requirements and Girl Scout awards. It provides...show more content... I have been a Girl Scout for five years. We have volunteered and done community service in many ways. We do annual holiday caroling at a local assisted living/nursing home and the residents enjoy and look forward to it. We collected soda can tabs and gave them to a local Ronald McDonald House as a troop. These tabs were able to be recycled in exchange for money and put back into their organization for children and families. We have also donated gentle used clothes to a local children's organization and Girl Scout cookies to a local foster and adoptive parents association. Volunteering gives me mixed emotions. To see people in need makes me sad but helping them makes me feel so happy. I love helping people because I know that I am capable and have something to offer and I am determined to help them. As a troop, I enjoy the time we spend together giving back and it helps us do Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. High School Volunteering Essay Throughout high school, I was involved in many different organizations that were either designed for volunteering or had a volunteering component, among them: Peer Helpers, a club where juniors and seniors mentored seventh through ninth graders; Youth Service, a club dedicated to volunteering at school fundraisers and the local Salvation Army; and National Honors Society, through which I volunteered at the nursing home as well as Christmas festivals. In college, I am part of a club called Volunteers Involved Through Action (VITA). While VITA contains many different core volunteering activities, the one that I participate in is mentoring at–risk youth at the local Boys and Girls Club once a week for three hours at a time. At the Boys and Girls Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Volunteering Plan Volunteering is one of the many ways to give back to a community and the people within it. When a person volunteers it is normally because he or she wants to repay the community in which he or she currently resides. Not only does it give back to the community, but it also helps establish new relationships with people within that community. Lending a hand to someone in need is something that should be identified as an important task, rather than being understood as a burden. Whether it is feeding the homeless people or helping rid the highways of litter, there are many ways to provide assistance to someone in need. I plan to volunteer at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital as a Unit Buddy and I will develop many benefits such as better social skills...show more content... It may seem that volunteering is too much work or too time consuming. However, it is not about the volunteer. It is about the person and community affected by the work. When one volunteers, it should be done out of the goodness of his or her heart, not because of the benefits that result from it. People should help others who are in need as they would want someone to help them if they were in need. I believe that in order for a community to thrive, people must help his or her fellow man, regardless of what it is. I look forward to volunteering at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital so I can help children who are in pain and in need of a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. The Importance of Volunteerism Essay In social science, economists argue that people act in their personal best interest; in contrast, volunteers willingly share their talents and provide services to others with no obligation or any incentive for personal gain. Volunteers have made significant contributions to charitable, educational, and worthwhile causes within a small community to foreign countries with no boundaries. Undeniably, the exchange of thoughts and experiences are extended through the volunteer process. With flexibility in time and summer vacations, university students are a large majority in the volunteer force around the world The involvement in volunteerism and extracurricular activities are not only beneficial to both the individual student and to the...show more content... Unquestionably QDC had been a mediator to my temporary liberation from the demanding academic work deadlines and hectic exam schedules. In addition to my involvement on campus, I spent my sophomore summer as a volunteer in Kenya. During this trip I had the privilege to meet new friends around the world, exchanged thoughts on social issues with others, and witnessed the exotic African culture. Indeed, involvement in volunteerism and additional activities provide a source of stress relief, expand connections to people with common interest, and enhance the memories of the university student life. A larger sense of community is encouraged from student volunteers and their contribution in their extracurricular activities. My roles as a university student volunteer in the medical field had leaded me into a more caring person with high intention to contribute to the society for a better overall being in the district. At the Kingston General Hospital, I put in efforts to interact with a diverse group of patients from children to seniors by providing meal assistance, company, and care. In addition, I tried to reach out to the minor disability group in the Kingston community by dedicating every Monday mornings at downtown Kingston H'art Studio to assist Down syndrome adults with learning of literacy and coping with changes in their lives. Furthermore, my travelling abroad to Kenya in summer 2008 with a group of university students were planned to assist the process of improving Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. "Volunteers are not paid; not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless."– Sherry Anderson (Volunteering Quotes: Finest Quotes). On average, when people think about community service, they assume that volunteering is just 'hours we need to be able to graduate' and that is it. Community service is more than just hours; community service is based on the acts performed by someone with the purpose of helping or bringing benefits to his or her community. People frequently compare community service as a punishment since it is often offered to small–time offenders as an alternative to fines or jail time. However, community service is the vital force to many communities since they depend on the service made by the volunteers...show more content... Volunteering in your community helps solve many dilemmas in your community that descend through the eyes of government and social agencies (Everything you ever wanted to know about volunteering). Discussing about volunteering to teenagers should be the first step for a better life, since teenagers are the future of tomorrow and they will leave a mark from yesterday. Volunteering has been such an important matter, that schools in many countries around the world established that 12th grade students will need certain hours of community service in order to graduate. But the frequent answers all the schools are getting are "Why do I need to volunteer? I have better things to do!" What people are forgetting is that each one of them is part of a community, a community that is not perfect and that the government sometimes forgets about their problems or needs, because obviously the government needs to take care of other things that require more attention. People are not only helping others, they are also helping themselves (Volunteering). Volunteering is not a new subject now, but people did not perceive it before because as time goes by, volunteering is becoming more and more popular since each year more people volunteer. Volunteering began around the early 19th century since America was experimenting with the Great Awakening. The Great Awakening was a period in which the importance of the church was slowly dying and instead the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Speech On Volunteering Volunteering "Where there is charity and wisdom, there is neither fear nor ignorance." Volunteering is an experience everyone should have at least once in their life. By showing kindness, I was impacted in a way, which I was not expecting. Kindness is a universal language, understood in each country, comprehended through all boundaries. No acts of kindness are disregarded. By showing compassion and kindness, not only does it affect another person, but it will reflect into your unique characteristics and behaviours. It instils a positive mindset and allows us to spread the message. Volunteering is defined as, "a person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task." (Oxford Dictionary, n.d.) In my opinion,...show more content... It honestly was not an inconvenience, and provided with the opportunity again, I would jump at the chance. Truthfully, visiting Freemason's home made my day. For the second visit to the elderly home, I was paired with three men, and two of my peers. We discussed their lives and ours, over an extremely intricate puzzle. It was great to talk to someone that was not my age, and was wise beyond their years. One man talked about his job as an engineer, and asked about what career path we were considering pursuing. Slightly before our departure from the home, one man show us a picture of his deceased wife from his wallet. As he told us about her, through his trembling voice, you could tell the immense love he felt for her, and the pain he was in. We thanked him for feeling strong enough to share it with us, and since then he's stayed imprinted on my memory. It was a beautiful story, and my heart felt warm afterwards. The food bank was one of my favourite STRIVE afternoons. We were introduced to the initiative and their message, and immediately got to work. We had certain foods requirements for each box and needed to work efficiently in order to complete the assigned tasks. While packing the boxes, I could reflect on the change we were making in those families lives. They relied on this food, and I couldn't help but feel like I was directly contributing to their lives. • 8. Volunteer Force Essay I am an asset to the volunteer force because I have realized what it means to become an adult. It is challenging myself by stepping out of my comfort zone and wondering how can I become a better person before asking others to change. Since I have made this revelation, I have started seeing everything with new eyes. I am much more grateful for what I have and I am eager to share my thoughts and time with the world. While there are multiple ways of practicing what I preach, this volunteering opportunity will be by far the most effective. Instead of spending my summers on myself, I will dedicate the time to others. I must admit that a year ago, the thought of applying to such a prestigious volunteer organization would have never crossed my mind Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Persuasive Essay On Mandatory Volunteering Would you consider volunteering a passion? Will you consider volunteering more if you knew it was for your grade? "One very specific reason to tie volunteer work to education is that teen volunteers are more likely to succeed academically than teens who don't volunteer" (Paragraph 5). To help a teen to be good for society, schools should make volunteering mandatory. Mandatory volunteering is seen as a good thing for teens because theyВґre helping the community. However, volunteering is when you decide to do something good to help someone out of the kindness of your heart but most teens don't want to and don't even think about it. When it comes to mandatory volunteering for teenagers, the argument goes for volunteering the Point article, "Give Teens Some Work to Do! It's Good for Them and Everyone Else" by the Studysync Curriculum because of its effective use of research and quoting professional organizations. The article "Give Teens Some Work to Do! It's Good for Them and Everyone Else" by the Studysync Curriculum is the most convincing because it uses the argumentative strategies: effective research and quoting professional organizations. Firstly, an example of a strategy that makes this article more convincing us the effective research the article provides. " Finally, the United Way says that volunteering improves people's health and helps to make a difference in someone's life" (Paragraph 4). In other words, it is better if the volunteer hours are part of teens school curriculum. This makes a convincing argument because it states the research they found and also includes a professional organization which proves someone professional proved it . This helps to make the argument convincing because most people will rely on professional statements and if they are proven by someone that did the research and studies it which means they know a lot about that.Additionally, another strategy that makes this article persuasive is the article quoting professional organizations. "Back in 2005 , a collaborative study conducted by the corporation for National and Community Service and the U.S Census Bureau revealed that students who do better in school are most likely to be volunteers ВЁ (Paragraph 5). • 10. I Want To Be A Volunteer Essay I believe that kindness and compassion are like a domino sequence. Once a person does a nice thing to someone else, the next person will also try to do something nice, and a chain of good actions that will cross neighborhoods, cities maybe even travel around the globe. Since I was a kid nothing pleasures me more than helping others. I've always knew that I wanted to be a volunteer, just like my mom always knew she wanted to be a doctor (and now she is an amazing one). I made my definitive decision of becoming a volunteer when I was 6 years old. Every year I collected clothes and toys and took them to an orphanage. That time it was around Christmas and my mom let me stay and give the toys to the children. I never forgot the genuine happiness...show more content... They tough me not just history or science, which is also important, they tough me something else. They gave me life lessons, every one of then left a mark and changed my way of thinking forever. My grandparents included, since they were both teachers, although I never met them, the memory of how much they loved and respected every single person, and the fact that the students and coworker from where they taught named a building after them inspires me to seek through learning more than just facts and mathematical formulas. They inspire me to use it as a tool to do something good in the world and inspire others to do the same. So in the spirit of this eternal pursuit of knowledge I think that a Traditional college is the right choice for what I want. I am really curious and there are several things I would like to learn along with college. Since I have a reasonable class rank and the will to learn a Traditional college seems the appropriate fit for me. My plan in life is to be a volunteer, and I have to face it there are no colleges that teache volunteering or a specific set of goals that I can follow. But I also think it is important to think ahed. If someday I wish to settle down, perhaps start a family, a good degree and a career wouldn't be bad.And although I can't really get a degree on volunteering, I think getting one in children's psychology will help me play an even more active and important role as a volunteer in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Essay On Volunteering Volunteering and its Affect on My Life Volunteering has deeply scorched life changing experiences in my life. During my experience as a volunteer, I volunteered for Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer based organization that constructs, and renovates homes for people that were recently in a natural disaster, deeply in need, and for people who are in need of a stable place to live without being scared of being evicted. While volunteering for Habitat for Humanity I have learned vast amounts of valuable knowledge about how what I do affects the people I help, construction experience, safety, attitudes, and social skills. Not only have I learned how I affect other people, but I have also noticed that volunteering has had...show more content... Gallup is explaining how volunteering can cost some in the beginning, but in turn can produce more money than imagined. In my case volunteering cost me time, and money but volunteering ultimately gave me valuable work experience, and also a potential career path. While trying to benefit another I have benefitted myself in the process. Not only did I learn skills in construction, I learned lessons in safety that will continue to benefit me though my entire life. During my volunteering I also learned safety experience that I can use in my daily life. Habitat for Humanity also states, " While most Habitat housing is new, some of our local affiliates rehabilitate older housing...this practice may expose construction workers and homeowners to lead from lead–based paint" ("Habitat for Humanity"). Hands on experience while I was volunteering taught me about the dangers that could come from renovating older homes. Rigorous training has taught me how to be safe in this work environment. I can hold this safety experience for the rest of my life and apply it to any job I consider pursuing in the future. • 12. Speech About Volunteering "The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others", very true words written by Mahatma Gandhi. Volunteering has always been something I loved doing. When a teacher needed help, I was the first to raise my hand. If someone needed their kid watched, I was the girl for the job. However, one particular instance always stuck with me. My story starts out like most other stories, my FFA Advisor, Mr. Kuster signed us up to pack buddy packs for kids around Missouri at the Missouri State Fair. The event had a cute name, "Food Insecurity Day", and we got T–shirts and a Scavenger Hunt to complete. When "Food Insecurity Day" rolled around, myself and other FFA Members from around the state gathered around to listen to how what we were doing was really making a difference. Of course, you always hear about the difference you are going to make, but sometimes it can be hard to believe. The day went fast. We washed our hands quickly and put on hair nets. We packed multiple items for the children, such as cereal bars, peanut bars, and fruit cups. We packed over 50,000 meals that day! Then I went on to have fun with my friends and did not really think about it anymore. School started next week. My new cheer coach had asked if anyone would be interested in volunteering their time to help the middle school squad learning the cheers. Being Varsity Cheer Co–Captain, I was more than happy to oblige. It was a no–brainer to help out because cheer is one of my favorite Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Volunteering Journal Entry Journal entry 1 During the seminars we learned a lot about the volunteering needed in the Sartell and St. Cloud areas. Volunteering within in the communities will not only make the organization a better place, but volunteering also will make the community and you, as person, better. They volunteering will be different for each person depending on what location you go. I personally chose Saint Francis as my first choice, because I could be in an elementary classroom. That really stuck out to me because I am leaning towards going to college for becoming a elementary teacher. The first day I was a little nervous because I didn't know what to expect from the kids.
