We are a leading “independent” provider of digital video brand advertising solutions facilitating targeted
digital video advertising. Our proprietary data-science driven technologies enable advertisers to reach
attentive, brand receptive audiences across a wide range of Internet-connected devices at scale.
YuMe (NYSE: YUME) is headquartered in Redwood City, CA with European headquarters in London and
nine additional offices worldwide. Chennai houses a major portion of our R&D activities. Besides R&D,
Chennai is also home to several operations related to Ad delivery, management & support for advertisers
& publishers.
What we do??
Before we get to what we do, I’d like to quickly give a background on the kind of advertising we do. Let’s
consider an example of Jet Airways wanting to run a marketing Campaign. Traditionally they could run 2,
or more, kinds of advertising. For the topic of interest, let’s stick with 2 kinds:
a) They normally could run an ad similar to the one that they run on TV, that has some very cool & Jazzy
creatives and sends a message that Jetairways is the Coolest, Safest airline in town with the best on time
record. These ads have no “call to actions” (i.e.) the ads do not ask you to click on anything. The whole
idea of such Campaigns is to send a message to the audience about Jet airways as a brand, how great
they are, and when you have travel plans in the future, the first airline you would consider would be Jet
Airways. These campaigns are called Brand messaging or Brand Advertising.
b) Jet airways would also run a different type of advertising. In this case they would show an ad creative
& would want the viewer to click on something (call to action), that could take them to a website, for
example, where they could get a coupon for ticket if they traveled tomorrow. These are called
Performance ads. There are a bunch of folks fighting for these types. Google being a big player here.
We focus on (a). Majority of the advertising that our direct sales team brings in falls in the type (a). This is
what we mean by Brand advertising. These are the kind of ads that gets shown on TVs. Earlier on, when
Brand advertisers wanted to send brand messages they could reach a large audience that pay attention &
are receptive to their brand message by just advertising on Television. Those days there were just a few
channels & people took the time to sit around TV as a family and watch these few channels. But now
there is an explosion of content channels & television shows. Also, today (at least in the US), because of
device fragmentation & proliferation of various handheld devices, advertisers cannot reach an attentive
audience because even when they watch TV they are distracted with all these devices.
YuMe is in the business of trying to solve this problem of content & device fragmentation and help Brand
advertisers find attentive & receptive audience at scale to deliver their brand message. We at YuMe use
smart technologies to connect different partners and components in video advertisement with an end-to-
end solution, that helps publishers, content owners, App developers & device manufactures better
monetize their inventory, and brand advertisers achieve the brand lift that they are looking for.We have
developed a robust Multi-Screen Video Advertising Platform for Brands and Agencies
