9. CURRENT RATIO
The current ratio compares all of a company’s current assets to its current liabilities.
These are usually defined as assets that are cash or will be turned into cash in a year or less and
liabilities that will be paid in a year or less.
The current ratio helps investors understand more about a company’s ability to cover its short-
term debt with its current assets and make apples-to-apples comparisons with its competitors and
peers.
Weaknesses of the current ratio include the difficulty of comparing the measure across industry
groups, the overgeneralization of the specific asset and liability balances, and the lack of trending
information.

11. ECONOMICS FOR MANAGERS
MARKET ANALYSIS OF INFOSYS
Features of Monopolistic Competition:
LARGE NUMBER OF SELLERS:
In IT market there are a total of 31,922(in 2019) registered Information Technology (IT) companies
functioning in the country, with Delhi and Maharashtra having the maximum number of IT firms, so
from this we can say that INFOSYS comes under competitive firm.
PRODUCT DIFFERENTIATION:
Being a leader in one products and services, BFSI (Banking, Finance, Security and Insurance).
Similarly other companies like WIPRO are leaders in telecom..
Proving extended support and consultancy after developing a product. Infosys has opened several
consulting partnerships abroad to achieve this.
More than 75% revenue comes from maintenance and support activities of new developed products as
well as the legacy systems.
One differentiators which I can think which makes all similar services providing IT companies in
India is their values which runs them. Infosys is much concerned about customer delight.
12. Freedom of Entry and Exit:
There are numerous firms waiting to enter the IT market each with its own "unique" product / services or in
pursue of positive profits, but due to lack of expertise employees, inability to spend higher amount in initial
period (for services like IT sector it requires firms to provide buyers first with services to attract more
consumers, and buyers also ask for services first because the buyers are less likely to spend often in services
like IT.) So, like this they often unable to cover its costs and leave the market.
Non-Price Competition:
Firms under monopolistic competition like INFOSYS compete in a number of ways to attract customers i.e.
Infosys uses to provide free maintenance to eligible customer. They use both Price Competition (competing
with other firms by reducing price of the product/services) and Non-Price Competition to promote their sales
13. MANAGERIAL COMMUNICATION
A ‘Written Communication’ means the sending of messages, orders or instructions in writing through letters,
circulars, manuals, reports, telegrams, office memos, bulletins, etc.
It is a formal method of communication and is less flexible. A written document preserved properly becomes a
permanent record for future reference.
It can also be used as legal evidence. It is time-consuming, costly and unsuitable for confidential and emergent
communication.
Written communication, to be effective, should be clear, complete, concise, correct, and courteous.

15. ORGANISATION BEHAVIOUR
CONFLICTS MANAGEMENT RESOLUTION IN INFOSYS:
With an employee strength of 2.92 Lakhs counting and employees coming from diversified background;
Politics and conflicts are bound to happen. Even though there are committees which ensure that the
functioning or organization should be smooth, fair and transparent, there are some incidents which still occur.
Committees like GRB (Grievance Redressal Body), HEAR (Hearing Employees And Resolving), Anti-Sexual
Harassment Initiatives (ASHI) etc. are available throughout the tenure of an employee to help them.
But sometimes these committees fail to address the political issues as just like the courts, these committees too
work on the basis of proofs. Also, at times politics played by employees especially by Senior Management
may unnoticed; this may by mistake rather by ignorance. Recently a lot of unethical behaviour on small is
observed amongst the employees and it goes unnoticed as employees hide behind their superiors or some use
their powers to conceal these activities. Employees who are the victims of this types of behaviours either quit
their jobs or try to raise their voice and fight for rights. Some pass, some fail but in the end all learn the harsh
lessons taught by the corporates.
16. BUSINESS ETHICS AND CORPORATE GOVERNANCE
CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY POLICY OF INFOSYS LIMITED
17. HEALTHCARE
Destitute Care Centre – AIIMS Partnership:
Cancer patients often have to look for temporary shelters along with family members who accompany them at
the National Cancer Institute (NCI) of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jhajjar, Haryana. To
support such patients and their families, the Infosys Foundation collaborated with the hospital to build an 800-
bed Dharamshala inside the campus.
EDUCATION
Avanti Fellows Partnership – A problem that STEMs from inequality:
Avanti Fellows started in 2010, has been to help students from marginalised communities studying in
government schools, to achieve stable, high-paying careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and
Mathematics). The non-profit has helped 40,000 students achieve their dreams of good quality education in
the last 8 years. The partnership has helped underprivileged students get access to quality STEM education
and achieve their dreams of getting admission to the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and National
Institute of Technology (NITs). The grant has also helped the team add medical coaching classes into the
program, which has allowed students to sit for the NEET examination and reach the best government-run
medical colleges. The Infosys – Avanti Fellows partnership has helped over 1,000 students to get access to
quality STEM education.

23. BUSINESS STATISTICS
TYPES OF CHARTS AND GRAPHS IN BUSINESS STATISTICS:
The four basic graphs used in statistics include Histogram, Bar graph, Frequency Polygon
and Pie charts. These are explained here in brief.
Histogram
A histogram chart displays the frequency of discrete and continuous data in a data set using connected
rectangular bars. Here, the number of observations that fall into a predefined class interval represented by a
rectangular bar.
24. Bar Graph
Bar graphs are the pictorial representation of grouped data in vertical or horizontal rectangular bars, where the
length of bars is proportional to the measure of data. The chart’s horizontal axis represents categorical data,
whereas the chart’s vertical axis defines discrete data.
Frequency Polygon
A graph in which line segments connecting the dots depict a frequency distribution. Construction starts with
histograms. Class midpoints on x-axis & frequency on y- axis. Dot is plotted for frequency values at midpoint
of each class interval. Same information as gathered in histogram.
25. Pie Chart
A pie chart used to represent the numerical proportions of a dataset. This graph involves dividing a circle into
various sectors, where each sector represents the proportion of a particular element as a whole. This is also called
a circle chart or circle graph.
Some of the screenshots of graphs used in Infosys are attached here:
