TRAINING PROGRAM
• Panchayat members of Rajasthan were
imparted training on basic management skills
by a training Institute located in UP in January,
2008.
• Panchayat members included women as well
• Training included basic managerial skills like:
• finance,
• corporate governance,
• communication
• decision-making skill
TRAINING PROGRAM
• 2 weeks training
• Delivered in Hindi
• Run in all the 36 districts of Rajasthan
EVALUATION OF
TRAINING PROGRAM
• Done after 8 months
• Done by institute in Udaipur
• Objective was to find effectiveness of training
• Various aspects of training were evaluated on a
5 point scale like:
• Training facility
• Training content
• Faculty members' effectiveness etc.
• Individual interactions found out huge
enthusiasm among all
EVALUATION OF
TRAINING PROGRAM
• Inability of many (majorly women) to
read/write Hindi resulted in lack of
understanding of the training content.
• Now, recommendation to the government
for future training programs are to be
given.
Q. Should the women folk be given separate
training program from their male
counterparts?
Ans.
• According to 73rd Constitutional Amendment,
1/3rd reservation of women came into effect
to increase women’s participation.
• This calls for equality in the system.
• Substantial number of women are already
under traditional Ghunghats.
• Providing separate training would further
build up the barriers of working together.
Q. Should the training program be imparted in
local language and for this trainers from UP be
trained the local Rajasthani language?
Ans.
• The group of trainers should include
Rajasthani locals with knowledge of program.
• This would help the participants to
understand and interact comfortably with
the trainers.
• This would increase effectiveness of the
program among the participants.
Q. Ideally what should be the most relevant
training content and training method for the
Gram Panchayat? What should be ideal
duration of the training program?
Ans.
The training content should also include:
• Interpersonal skills
• Teamwork skills
• Delegation skills
• Knowledge of Planning

training content and training method for the
Gram Panchayat? What should be ideal
duration of the training program?
Ans.
The training method should not only be
confined to lecture method but also some
interactive sessions to increase the interest of
participants like-
• Conducting Audio-Visual Classes
• Conducting Role Plays & interactive games
• Providing them with hypothetical situations
Q. Ideally what should be the most relevant
training content and training method for the
Gram Panchayat? What should be ideal
duration of the training program?
Ans.
• The duration of the should be kept 2 weeks
itself, as longer duration would lead to loss of
interest among the participants.
• Moreover, there should be evaluation by the
same trainers after the training program in
order to assess the effectiveness of the
program.
