2015 – Founder & Director Prakriti Initiatives (PI), Bhopal
I am co-founder and member of Board of Directors of the firm Prakriti Initiatives (PI), which actively
promotes Natural/Autonomous learning. PI would lend our hands to interested schools and individuals to
create natural learning environment by creating different educational centers – Tinkering LAB. The LAB
is a signature initiative of PI, provides a space for students to explore their ideas freely.
https://www.facebook.com/Prakriti.Initiatives?fref=ts
2011 – 2015 Founder & Director ANDS, Bhopal
I have conceptualized and started a non-conventional school, named Anand Niketan Democratic School
(ANDS), attempted to develop the democratic education model to achieve inclusion in schools and create
an innovative replica for education at Pre-school and elementary level.
ANDS is a fresh new experiment in redefining early education and achieve inclusion by creating democratic
environment. It strives to give space to children to learn and grow in an environment of trust,
responsibilities and freedom. Relaxing the subject and grade based divisions, the school works through
thematic rooms with a variety of resources, activities that let a student do according to their interest and
learn at their pace and skilled faculty available to suggest them various consequences of the activities they
are active in, only if they ask for. Children and adult (some places including parents) participate in school
processes and various decisions making.

National Teacher's Sciences Conference -2003
organized by Gawaliar Science Centre & NCSTC
Presented a study paper on
Examination system of HSTP
9-12 Sep 2003
2008 – 2011 Research Associate Eklavya, Bhopal
I rejoined Eklavya in 2008 as a part of Mathematics Research Team. This research team has taken up the
responsibility to propose educational reforms in the school math curriculum. I had conducted a rigorous
individual action research project in Hoshangabad. After the study I shifted to Bhopal to co-ordinate the
Math and Science Education activities for Eklavya.
Research – I have conducted a qualitative study (Action Research) on teaching-place value in middle school
grade 6. The research paper selected for poster presentation in Episteme-4 (Fourth international conference
to review research on Science, Technology and Mathematics Education)
Resource person – I had been giving inputs as academic resource person to various Government/private
agencies, working towards improving quality education in school throughout India such as training for
Regional Institute of Education (Bhopal), Rajya Shiksha Kendra and its Schools (Bhopal, Dewas,
Hoshangabad), Kendiya Vidyalay Sangathan Bhopal Region,
Academic Orientation and capacity building for ‘Room to Read’ and ‘World Vision’ etc in Bhopal, CARE
(Bhuj Gujarat, Madhubani Bihar), Eklavya - Pitara (Patna, Bihar) etc.
Science Kit Production – I am a part of development of a comprehensive science kit for middle school. We
had conceptualized the kit and gradually develop it a compact and handy kit box. I had facilitated designing
and procurement of the materials, developed training module for the teacher to use the kit.
2006 – 2007 Science/Math Teacher Sahyadri School, Pune
I had left Eklavya and went for teaching at Sahyadri, an international residential school run by Krishnamurti
Foundation of India (KFI).
I can broadly categorize my work as below.
 Child-centric Process - I generally avoided demonstration of experiments. Children worked in groups.
Every child got a chance to take an active part in doing experiments and thinking in each group. This
group-based study facilitated peer learning in the classroom.
 Activity based method - My main motive was to give children exposure to the scientific process and
the content was treated as a base to support this scientific enquiry. Below is a list of the scientific
temper & skills present in teaching methodology used in the classroom.
- Exploring the environment & local resources - Questioning
- Guided as well as random observation - Articulating (oral and written)
- Organizing data and finding conclusions - Experimental skill
- Positive attitude to criticism or questioning - Rigor
 I have documented most of my classroom practices in detail. Some of these have been published in
educational journals in the form of articles, published in the education Journals.
 Science/Math club activities – I anchored the science club and helped other science/math clubs such as
cosmos club, nature walk, math puzzle, etc. Many science models such as kaleidoscope, microscope,
telescope, periscope, chemical cell, etc were created during these activities with the children.
1998 – 2006 Research Associate Eklavya, Hoshangabad
I had worked in an action research project with Eklavya (an Institute of Educational Research/ Innovative
Action in Science Education) for 6-7 years. Eklavya is a well-known non-profit organization (NGO) that has
done pioneer work in the field of Education.
Hoshangabad Science Teaching Programme (HSTP) was most famous and appreciated program of Eklavya
that was run in collaboration with the state government of Madhya Pradesh in about 1000 schools. HSTP
developed a science curriculum based workbook along with various other components to improve science
teaching in middle schools. This curriculum was based on child-centered class room practice, learning by
doing, encouraging children to observe and ask questions and discover answers on their own. The
workbook content & pedagogy was evolved by a large number of resource persons associated with HSTP
over the period of 30 years.
My work experience at Eklavya and HSTP into following categories
 Research and Material Development
1. Text Book Revision Process – I was involved in the development of material in textbooks (Eklavya’s
workbooks). I was responsible for preparation of tools and testing by direct teaching, silent
observation.
2. Developed field-tested module on science topics which is a collection of easy and do-able
experiments at home, based on scientific methods.
3. Desk review of textbook based on experiences in science education with Eklavya.
4. SAWALIRAM a fictitious character who respond to children’s curiosity via personalize letter. It was
a component of HSTP to provide direct help in the classroom teaching.
 Role as a Teacher’s Capacity enhance – There were many teacher enrichment platforms in HSTP. I had
actively participated in Preparation, Conducting sessions and Documentation.
 Role as a Resource Person – Eklavya works as resource agency as well. I had visited various educational
institutes to support their educational initiatives across India.
 Publication – Member of editorial team of children’s magazine “UDAN”. Review and comment on
various academic articles for publication.
1. Worked with -
 Intensive work with rural & urban schools (personally visited around 500 schools during to
support the HST Programme).
 Worked with children and teachers (mostly on academic issues)

The LAB is a signature initiative of PI, provides a space for students to explore their ideas freely. https://www.facebook.com/Prakriti.Initiatives?fref=ts 2011 – 2015 Founder & Director ANDS, Bhopal I have conceptualized and started a non-conventional school, named Anand Niketan Democratic School (ANDS), attempted to develop the democratic education model to achieve inclusion in schools and create an innovative replica for education at Pre-school and elementary level. ANDS is a fresh new experiment in redefining early education and achieve inclusion by creating democratic environment. It strives to give space to children to learn and grow in an environment of trust, responsibilities and freedom. Relaxing the subject and grade based divisions, the school works through thematic rooms with a variety of resources, activities that let a student do according to their interest and learn at their pace and skilled faculty available to suggest them various consequences of the activities they are active in, only if they ask for. • 4. 2008 – 2011 Research Associate Eklavya, Bhopal I rejoined Eklavya in 2008 as a part of Mathematics Research Team. This research team has taken up the responsibility to propose educational reforms in the school math curriculum. I had conducted a rigorous individual action research project in Hoshangabad. After the study I shifted to Bhopal to co-ordinate the Math and Science Education activities for Eklavya. Research – I have conducted a qualitative study (Action Research) on teaching-place value in middle school grade 6. The research paper selected for poster presentation in Episteme-4 (Fourth international conference to review research on Science, Technology and Mathematics Education) Resource person – I had been giving inputs as academic resource person to various Government/private agencies, working towards improving quality education in school throughout India such as training for Regional Institute of Education (Bhopal), Rajya Shiksha Kendra and its Schools (Bhopal, Dewas, Hoshangabad), Kendiya Vidyalay Sangathan Bhopal Region, Academic Orientation and capacity building for ‘Room to Read’ and ‘World Vision’ etc in Bhopal, CARE (Bhuj Gujarat, Madhubani Bihar), Eklavya - Pitara (Patna, Bihar) etc. Science Kit Production – I am a part of development of a comprehensive science kit for middle school. We had conceptualized the kit and gradually develop it a compact and handy kit box. I had facilitated designing and procurement of the materials, developed training module for the teacher to use the kit. 2006 – 2007 Science/Math Teacher Sahyadri School, Pune I had left Eklavya and went for teaching at Sahyadri, an international residential school run by Krishnamurti Foundation of India (KFI). I can broadly categorize my work as below.  Child-centric Process - I generally avoided demonstration of experiments. Children worked in groups. Every child got a chance to take an active part in doing experiments and thinking in each group. This group-based study facilitated peer learning in the classroom.  Activity based method - My main motive was to give children exposure to the scientific process and the content was treated as a base to support this scientific enquiry. Below is a list of the scientific temper & skills present in teaching methodology used in the classroom. - Exploring the environment & local resources - Questioning - Guided as well as random observation - Articulating (oral and written) - Organizing data and finding conclusions - Experimental skill - Positive attitude to criticism or questioning - Rigor  I have documented most of my classroom practices in detail. Some of these have been published in educational journals in the form of articles, published in the education Journals.  Science/Math club activities – I anchored the science club and helped other science/math clubs such as cosmos club, nature walk, math puzzle, etc. Many science models such as kaleidoscope, microscope, telescope, periscope, chemical cell, etc were created during these activities with the children. 1998 – 2006 Research Associate Eklavya, Hoshangabad I had worked in an action research project with Eklavya (an Institute of Educational Research/ Innovative Action in Science Education) for 6-7 years. Eklavya is a well-known non-profit organization (NGO) that has done pioneer work in the field of Education. Hoshangabad Science Teaching Programme (HSTP) was most famous and appreciated program of Eklavya that was run in collaboration with the state government of Madhya Pradesh in about 1000 schools. HSTP developed a science curriculum based workbook along with various other components to improve science teaching in middle schools. This curriculum was based on child-centered class room practice, learning by doing, encouraging children to observe and ask questions and discover answers on their own. The workbook content & pedagogy was evolved by a large number of resource persons associated with HSTP over the period of 30 years.
