(Positive)
• there are thousands of advertisements created every year, and most of
them leave a certain impact, intentionally or unintentionally, in the minds
of the public. There are many advertisements which have a positive
impact on the minds of people, such as the advertisement campaign of
“TATA Tea” with its tagline “jaago re” which is considerably encouraging to
the public, as it has a positive message to “awaken” the people of India
towards their real aims and duties.
• P & G advertisement campaign also
positive impact on the society, as it donates a portion of the sales earned
to an NGO named “shiksha”. This provokes a sense of awareness and care
among the masses. Even the advertisements of certain financial firms
serve to be useful to the society, as they make the public understand how
certain important and useful financial matters work. Such advertisements
include that of LIC, Manappuram gold loan, Bank advertisements, the
recent ad campaign by SEBI, etc.
(negative)
• various advertisements lead to the social evils that are prominent in the
nation. The worst example is treatment of women. The way women are
projected in the advertisements nowadays has led to certain disastrous
stereotypes.You must have seen a Vitrified Tiles advertisement, with a lady
shown lying on the tiles. Basically, there is no need for that lady to
advertise the tiles!! But still, just to grab more and more attention, such
tactics are used in advertising. If women are ill-treated in the society
today, much of it is due to such advertisements! Just for the sake of
boosting the sales, the dignity of a gender is put to stake!
• You must have seen all the advertisements of “AXE” deodorants It is the
worst example of how women are used to mislead the public towards the
product to be sold. There are many more such examples of
advertisements, like those of Set Wet, Denver, Wild Stone, Fast track, Fair
and Handsome, Gillette etc which project women merely as a symbol of
seduction, to attract more customers towards the product.
conclusion
• Thus, the advertisements largely affect the society –
both positively and negatively, and also the society
affects the advertisements being made in the
country, up to a certain extent. However, as responsible
citizens of India, we should feel free to express our
thoughts for or against any such advertisement that we
find misleading or undesirable, and try to improve the
condition of our society with little, but with the best
we can do! Anyways, we can never escape from this
effect of advertisements. We will keep on changing the
advertisements they make, and the advertisements
they make, will keep on changing us………..

  • 1. Effects (Positive) • there are thousands of advertisements created every year, and most of them leave a certain impact, intentionally or unintentionally, in the minds of the public. There are many advertisements which have a positive impact on the minds of people, such as the advertisement campaign of “TATA Tea” with its tagline “jaago re” which is considerably encouraging to the public, as it has a positive message to “awaken” the people of India towards their real aims and duties. • P & G advertisement campaign also positive impact on the society, as it donates a portion of the sales earned to an NGO named “shiksha”. This provokes a sense of awareness and care among the masses. Even the advertisements of certain financial firms serve to be useful to the society, as they make the public understand how certain important and useful financial matters work. Such advertisements include that of LIC, Manappuram gold loan, Bank advertisements, the recent ad campaign by SEBI, etc.
  • 2. (negative) • various advertisements lead to the social evils that are prominent in the nation. The worst example is treatment of women. The way women are projected in the advertisements nowadays has led to certain disastrous stereotypes.You must have seen a Vitrified Tiles advertisement, with a lady shown lying on the tiles. Basically, there is no need for that lady to advertise the tiles!! But still, just to grab more and more attention, such tactics are used in advertising. If women are ill-treated in the society today, much of it is due to such advertisements! Just for the sake of boosting the sales, the dignity of a gender is put to stake! • You must have seen all the advertisements of “AXE” deodorants It is the worst example of how women are used to mislead the public towards the product to be sold. There are many more such examples of advertisements, like those of Set Wet, Denver, Wild Stone, Fast track, Fair and Handsome, Gillette etc which project women merely as a symbol of seduction, to attract more customers towards the product.
  • 3. conclusion • Thus, the advertisements largely affect the society – both positively and negatively, and also the society affects the advertisements being made in the country, up to a certain extent. However, as responsible citizens of India, we should feel free to express our thoughts for or against any such advertisement that we find misleading or undesirable, and try to improve the condition of our society with little, but with the best we can do! Anyways, we can never escape from this effect of advertisements. We will keep on changing the advertisements they make, and the advertisements they make, will keep on changing us………..
