children in
preparation
for school
There are many ways that a child can be supported by the people
around them with relation to preparing for the school transition:
Stories/ books – you can use story time to help children in preparation
for school by using stories related to transitioning and school, to make
the transition less daunting,
Songs and videos – using songs and videos to help children transition
into school will help them as they will be able to visualize the
transition from using the videos, making it an easier transition,
Activities – Working with your child to complete activities relating to
school transitioning will help them to prepare for the change, doing
things such as, sharing, lining up, serving meals and practicing
independence, will assist them with the transition.
Overall supporting the needs of your child – ensuring that a child can
deal with the emotions they may be facing, by explaining the process
making it less daunting.
