The culture of recording one’s life, from birth till death and from lifestyle to politics is everywhere. This is evident in the number of photos taken each year, with over 1 trillion photos taken each year since 2017- that means the last three years have produced over one third of the total photos ever taken!
2. • As of 2019 more than 1.2 trillion
photos are taken in the world each
year, with many of them ending up on
social media.
• As photography adoption has
globalized, the factors affecting trends
are also various and intertwined.
• Therefore, it is better to look at
consider three trends in photography
from the technology, style and subject
points of view that address the
multiple global factors affecting
photography.

3. Reality was traditionally defined by whatever was detectable in the real
world with our own senses and man-made sensors.
AR and VR have changed the concept of what is “real”, therefore
photography, the art and science of visually capturing “reality” has also
transformed.
360 degree photos, both turntable type used for ecommerce and 3D
panoramas, used to create walkthroughs are changing how we
experience our physical world. New opportunities in research,
construction, education, and eCommerce are getting created.

4. Drone photography adds a third dimension to pictures. This is
appealing for both emotional and utilitarian reasons. As drone prices
drop and govt. regulations standardize drone photography will soar;
Cinemographs are still photos with some video elements added,
creating a striking effect.

5. Photography in 2020 will discard understated pastels and embrace
celebratory vibrant color schemes.
However, compositions will be minimalistic and lighting emphasis will
be on natural light, or use of soft filters to diffuse artificial light to
achieve a natural light look.
In a nod to the changing concepts of what is real, one photographic
style is capturing human-art interactions in a photograph. With the
basic premise that everything in a photograph (prior to manipulation in
post production) is real, it implies that for a living subject to interact
with art, they must both be equally real.
Trend #2- Changing moods getting reflected in stylistic
choices

crop pictures.
Focus will be on creating an unintrusive yet immersive experience by
introducing depth and focus into shots.
