Aid el-Adha, also known as the "Festival of Sacrifice", is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that commemorates Ibrahim's willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. On this day, animals such as sheep, cows or camels are sacrificed and divided into three parts - one for the family, one for relatives and friends, and one for the poor and needy. The meat from the sacrificed animals is eaten by the family and distributed to others as a symbol of sharing and sacrifice.
