- The Instructional Materials layer of TutorStack is the repository of learning materials and assets given to students to support their learning for a given module. Lecturers can upload a wide range of content types, create interactive learning experiences, embed video and create a rich experience for students. Lecturers can easily organise content by week number or by topic, manage students on a module, view their participation, track engagement with learning materials and much more, all within Moodle.
- For students there can be confusion over where they should expect to receive communications from lecturers, email, Moodle Messages, announcements, forums, some even use Whatsapp and other platforms. Clear communication is a key component online and blended learning. Learning is a social experience and creating a sense of community is another important facet, especially when students are spending less time on the physical campus. We recommend using Teams as our community platform where lecturers and students can get to know each other, build trust and feel comfortable asking and answering each other’s questions in the same way they would on campus. Teams will be a one-stop-shop for instant, media rich, lecturer to student and student to student communications for all academic matters.
- There are a wide range of assessment methods available in Moodle including activities such as H5P, discussion forums, file submission, multiple choice quizzes, Turnitin and others. The logging and reports available in Moodle provide robust traceability and accountability of student engagement, activity access and assignment submission. Moodle also provides a rich environment for feedback and the grading of assessments. Lecturers can provide text, audio and video feedback to students. The gradebook facility allows students to quickly access this feedback.
- WIT now has an institutional license for Zoom providing advanced features for all staff and students in the institute. Zoom is integrated into Moodle to allow you schedule and create meetings from within your module. Recordings for those meetings will then appear in context in the module where the meeting was created. Only participants on the module will have access to these recordings. Zoom provides a rich and easy to use set of features for live classes. Lecturers can share their screens and individual applications in Zoom. Only the lecturer can control the virtual classroom, they can mute other users, give students permission to share their screen and see up to 49 participants on the screen. We encourage staff to use Zoom in Dual Screen mode so that they can see their students and their content at the same time. Virtual Office
