Persuasive Essay Homeschooling
Homeschooling has been around a very long time. It has never been a new thing, it just hasn't been as popular as it used to be (Lines, p. 76). With this
topic meaning so much to groups for and against the right for homeschooling and what should be legalized or not, the debate still rages on from local
to even national government entities. Both sides of the argument have valid points to be had, but it is ultimately the choice for the parents. There have
been many different ways to educate children that the decision is difficult for the parents and their children. Although some educators may criticize the
homeschool process by citing a lack of socialization as a problem, parents should consider homeschooling because it is economically beneficial, it
allows for flexibility and customization of curriculum, and enables students to master concepts at their own pace.
First off, people don't really know what homeschooling is to begin with. Simple reason is that it has no public or academic attention. It has gotten so
little attention that it is, in essences, been referred to as the "'quiet revolution'" (Monk, p. 295). Chris Jeub stated it best: "Homeschooling neither
isolates children nor harms their academic growth; it does, however, come close to the true definition of education: the passing down of culture" (Jeub,
p. 50). Another way to describe it is taking school courses through certified institutions, like a public school or university. Some choose for a program
that goes towards a high school degree. Others opt to find someone who is certified to teach (Larsen, p. 92). Back when it first picked up, nobody
really knew what it was. Nowadays, it has become more popular and people now know what it is. Surprising, there is a variety of people that do
homeschooling, from high–income to low–income families. There are some that have doctorates or even a diploma in a general subject. Families with
either one or two parents and differing ethnics and religious or secular inducement choose homeschooling (Ray 2002). They also come to the
conclusion that homeschoolers, for the most part, have free reign when it comes to their homework and school pace that they feel that suits them the
best.
There are many expressed concerns

Persuasive Essay On Homeschooling
Putting kids into homeschooling is not an easy task for parents to take care of. Parents would have to make sure that their kid is receiving the right
education he/she needs. "The parents also may have to file paperwork with the state to explain who is teaching the kid and which subjects are being
covered" ("Homeschooling"). For the traditional way of schooling teachers, counselors, principals are mostly in charge of kids education, but when it
comes to homeschooling, parents and the tutor are in charge of their kid's school. "In fact, more than one million students do it" ("Homeschooling").
According to the quote, that is an unexpectedly big number showing how many kids are homeschooled nowadays.
There are many reasons why parents choose to homeschool their kids. Few of these reasons are to provide their kids with a higher quality education,
to support a learning disabled child and to make their kid's schedule work with the school if the kids are athletes, actor/actress and so on.
First is to provide kids with a higher quality education. "Kids who are homeschooled may benefit from the one–on–one attention. For instance, if you
don't understand something in math, the whole class won't be moving on without you" ("Homeschooling"). According to the quote, It is true that kids
this way understand what they're learning more because it's easier to ask questions in front of one audience which is the tutor. They learn it until they
understand everything steps by step because they're the whole class and they learn at their own pace. Therefore, they receive a higher quality education.
Second, to support a learning disabled child who has difficulty learning with other kids. Public schools have a challenging time working with kids who
battle learning disabilities, leaving them to feel left out, confused and with low self–esteem. In Order to avoid their kids from this problems, parents
choose to homeschool for their child. "When the weight of discouragement and struggle is lifted, one of the first things we see is a change in how kids
see themselves" (Parnell, Jessica). Therefore, parents want a better learning environment for their learning disabled kids and they select homeschooling.
Finally, some kids have a busy

Do you hate having to wake up early to get ready and drive to school? Are you sometimes late to your 1st period of the day? Well if that's you,
maybe public schools aren't for you. You should try homeschool online and forget about being late to your first period ever again. Don't be like the
roosters and be smart. I choose homeschool online and the only thing that I regret is not switching faster. Here are some Pros and cons When you're
deciding which is best for you. The most important factor is the education that you will be receiving. Sometimes is challenging receiving the best
education possible on public schools because of the distractions. If there's no interruptions, then teacher will have no problem teaching and you will
have a pretty dissent education but that's rear. While in online homeschool there's no interruptions and your teacher will have a one on one interaction
with you to make sure that your are learning your lessons. Also, you wouldn't be doing the same thing as other students because is based on each
individual. Base on ("Homeschool World", 2010) a website abouthomeschooling, over 2.4 million students are now learning from home, a 75%
increase since 1999. This shows that every year more people are to switching from public schools to homeschools. Another thing, did you know that
students that decide to do homeschool are doing better in national test than those in public schools? Maybe is because of the minimum interruptions
and more learning, that homeschool online students are out–performing public schools. Another thing that homeschool students are out–performing
public school students are communication, daily living, socialization and maturity. Which helps student on there every day lives. The best part of
online home school is the schedule. The schedule is based on each individual. For example, I work in the mornings and I get out at 5. I get home
and the first thing I do is turned on my laptop and get ready for my next lesson or to revised one of my lessons. The only tricky part of setting your
own schedule is following it. Everything is possible, so, don't let that stop you. In the other hand if you're in a public school, you most likely have to
follow their schedule. School

Homeschooling was first introduced in the 1972. In a case Supreme Court case Wisconsin vs. Yoder they fought over the fact that public schools were
violating their religious beliefs. The court decided to rule in favor of religious freedom, instead of favoring the states who wanted to require public
education for everyone. The ruling that the Supreme Court made did not allow the homeschooled parents to teach the kids however the want. The
government was still allowed to intervene to check the child's mental and physical health (Homeschooling, 2017). The main reason the homeschooling
began was because of religious reason. Parents didn't want public education to be forced onto their child, since it may of went against their religion.
There are even more reasons now to be homeschooled. It would be for religious reasons, or it could be for health reasons. Many parents believe that
when their child is being homeschooled they are getting a better, more personalized education. Although homeschooling is seen as not being a viable

Homeschooling is not a new concept to the United States, and for many centuries it was the only way for children to get an education. Many of our
founding fathers were homeschooled, proving there is nothing wrong with homeschooling, and to this day it continues to provide children with an
adequate education. Many parents believe that public school is satisfactory. However, they feel that homeschooling is a better option because it provides
a safer environment for their children and more conducive to learning. Homeschooling is an effective method of education as homeschooled students
continue to score high marks on national tests, interact socially with other students in all kinds of activities, achieve success in college, and become

Town leaders were instructed to watch over their neighbors, and if children were persistently neglected an education, they were to be removed from
their homes. In 1647, the General Court of Massachusetts passed a more comprehensive law requiring all towns to provide a school to teach
children. The schools were located around the town so as no children had to travel more than one to two miles to attend school. During that time, a
public school did not necessarily mean free. Some students were required to pay part of the cost by paying tuition, providing wood for the school, or
lodging for the schoolmaster.
Between 1867 and 1918 all states had passed compulsory school attendance laws. By the 1920's, there were two significant Supreme Court decisions
that curtailed the influence of compulsory attendance and would help to legalize the modern home school movement years later (Gatto 2001). In
1923, the Court ruled in Myer vs. Nebraska case that the state's right over education is not absolute and in 1925 the Court, in Pierce vs. Society of
Sisters, said Oregon parents could not be denied their own schools to teach their children (Gatto 2001). By the late 1960's, the rise of the hippie culture
brought back the concept of homeschooling. Hippies rebelled against everything and this included education. The 1970's brought about the Biblical

Thesis Statement On Homeschooling Students
Thesis Statement:Students should not be homeschooled because they do not take standardized tests and do not have certain support systems that
public schools have.
Body Paragraph #1
Topic Sentence: Homeschooling children does not have certain requirements that are necessary in thepublic school district.
Supporting Evidence #1: In the article it say, "Public school students are tested and graded to ensure that they understand the subject matter. For
homeschooled students, however, there are no required subjects and the statute simply speaks in terms of instruction" (Richardson,2013).
Explanation: Homeschooled students should be required to take the subjects just like public schools do. They need to be tested at all times to make
sure they understand what you are teaching them,...show more content...
So we can know our children are getting the proper curriculum. Homeschooled students should know the same thing as our public schools children do.
Also, we need to know how the child works and if they have any progress in all the subjects that the teacher teaches. The teachers can not know how
the child is doing, if there are no tests to show it.
Supporting Evidence #2: But there's more; statics also say, "We need the conversation to change, Coleman said. We're not denying that there are plenty
of abusers in public schools, but we have a system in place to help them. That's something homeschoolers don't have" (Stafford,2015).
Explanation: There is never a time when people go through the hardest times in life. Or want someone to talk to. Public schools provide help for that.
They have counselors for students to talk to. They have programs for students to express their feelings and help them come out there shell. But as for
homeschooling, they do not have systems for that. Homeschooling does not provide counseling for their

Wake up, get dressed, go to school. Monday through Friday 7:30am–2:30pm. Age 7–18 is where most people figure out who they are and what they
want to pursue as a career. But they spend those years being shuffled through the halls from class to class being shown how to do math problems that
they don't understand. Even the electives, such as art expect the children to produce the same image somewhat replicating an assembly line. The most
devastating thing about the school system is the problems they have identifying where they need to separate learning from allowing the person to
gain their own sense of identity. Where the regular school system goes wrong is the steps they take to have the children go through and do the same
thing over and over so they can pass a test and move on to the next process. There has to be another way, without an alternative to the public school
system we would all be the same despite our differences. I believe that homeschooling or unschooling is a more successful way of getting an education
that fits each and every person is some way or another. According to Susan Wise Bauer the American school system is "one size fits all" (1), but in
fact, I believe that it is not every child has a very different style of learning. In fact, every child has a different style of learning and also has different
speeds of comprehending the material they are being taught. Now imagine you are attending a public school in a wealthy community. This community

Homeschooling a child can drastically affect their lives in the future, and put them in a clouded state of mind for seeing what the world is. Schooling
your child from home will hold them back from learning a wide variety of basic skills that can be easily provided in public or private school systems.
Although some see homeschooling as a good way to shelter their children from the world they view as harsh, it is not giving them any chance to gain
common social skills. Social skills cannot be taught to a child, they are something the child must learn from interaction with his or her peers.
Furthermore, homeschool teachers are not required the level of training and experience that a teacher at a public school are required (Hudak). Diversity
is something widely portrayed in school systems; however, homeschooling doesn't allow students to bear witness to the diverse nature found in school
systems.
Homeschooling was once a completely normal thing to do, before the Industrial Revolution, with children learning basic lifetime skills instead of
school work. Any form or education received would be from a family member or a friend. Learning would depend on the busyness of the farming
season for most too, with some family's needing as many working hands as possible. After the industrialization of America, attendance laws had been
put in place that required children to attend some form of school to receive an education. However, it was not required to be a public school; private
schooling and home schooling was also commissioned. After gaining a momentum in the 1960's, a large amount of Christens had started to become
paranoid about the secularization in the public schooling system. Due to the discourage and outlawing of prayer in school, religious families saw
homeschooling as an alternative to giving their children an education while also keeping them from losing their personal values. For these people,
homeschooling was the only option they had available. In the 1980's homeschooling started to become more accepted in the world of education
(Valentine).
Although not becoming officially permitted in all the states until 2012, many students were already participating in homeschooling in the already

Homeschooling refers to the procedure of teaching kids from home instead of sending them to public or private schools. This is when they are
taught by parents, brothers, sisters, a neighborhood friend, or online. Homeschooling is not for everybody and as we will see later the pros and
cons of homeschooling. People say it is good because there is not busy work all the work can be done in a few hours. Then, people say it is bad
because parents or whoever is teaching has to be with the kids all the time in order for them to be able to understand what is being taught to their full
potential. I intend to prove that kids should not be homeschooled because of the time, cost, and socialization.

If you want the best education for your children you have to pay the most and research says it is over $900 per child to get the best education so they
will be on the same level as kids in public schools. You have to havehomeschooling in your budget or your going to be financially in debt.
Lastly, you may say socializing is not that important but without socializing kids will have a higher chance of them running into trouble either
with the juvenile or adult legal system, also cause them to have aggressive or violent behavior because they are not use to talking to people
outside their household and cause depression because they do not have any friends or anybody to hang out with. But, If home schooled, they may
be at a disadvantage of the chance to form friendships which will cause them suffer socially. The lack of socialization may affect them in later
stages of life. Then if kids do not socialize with other kids they will not learn things like patience because you have to have experience with dealing
with all types of people to be able to have patience also they will have a hard time making friends when they are done with school and move on to
college or just moving out of their parents house and this where depression plays a part because they will eventually become lonely not having any
socializing skills.

ВЁHomeschooling is a middle ground for parents who do not want their children in public school, but do not want to or cannot pay the price of private

handful of them go to college. Homeschooling was originally for students with disabilities, but is no longer used solely for that purpose. Although
homeschooling may be central to a busy child's life, it should be eliminated because it minimizes the range of information in daily lessons, strains
relationships between students and teachers, and eradicates social skills.

Stated in an article on Shmoop, "you'll [parents] be adding teacher, guidance counselor, and principal. Even if you take the most carefree unschooling
approach possible, at some point along the way, you will likely have to act in one or all of these roles to help your child learn a new concept or
make a decision about her future." This undoubtedly proves that children should attend school and not homeschool as it can ruin relations for them
and future generations in their family. This why you should never homeschool any children regardless of their issues. In yet another article written
by Sagari Gongala she states, "When you choose to homeschool, you are doubling up as a teacher. So you are going to spend all your waking time
with the child on a school day. Public schools allow you to be just a "mom"." Another valid point of why children should not be homeschooled is
because it not only helps the kids to gain social skills, but it gives parents a period of time to relax. Which definitely proves why children should
never homeschool since it can truly affect how kids will behave, as well as their confidence. Public school helps alleviate tension between students and
teachers while also allowing students the freedom of friendship and

homeschooling is not the best option, or would somehow set a child apart from a child who attends a traditional school? Many people do believe this

Homeschooling can be an absolutely wonderful experience, but that comes with a price. You have to ask yourself "is it worth it?" Most
homeschooled students and parents would happily tell you yes. What an honest person would tell you is that it is the best experience, but it comes
with a "price". The cons of homeschooling are far less than the pros. Some of the cons are: child being misunderstood by peers, lack of exposure to
everyday events, less friends due to not being in a social setting on a daily basis, less opportunities for organized sports such as school teams, less
freedom for mother and child, and lack of support from peers and co–op groups (Spooner, 2016). The following will discuss how these are not exactly
cons, and could be viewed as pros instead.
There is no limit to a child's success when it comes to homeschooling. They are not limited to just core subjects. They follow no particular curriculum
or set pace, they learn about real life through real things, take real test that will help them through real situations, and can begin grades that are far
beyond their age. You will learn there really are no cons to homeschooling, if homeschooling is a good option for your family.

For the first 230 years of our history, parents, not the government, were in charge. Competence in reading, writing, and arithmetic was nearly universal
at the time of the American Revolution. But by the mid–nineteenth century, a band of reformers led by Horace Mann of Massachusetts replaced our
founding, free–market education system with a system of state–run education, with compulsory attendance and standardized curriculum. (Forstmann,
2001) Homeschooling has been around for a long time and is not going anywhere. It continues to increase as the year's pass, and it's not slowing down.
Many pioneers have fought for homeschooling, and new ones continue to surface. While the public education continues to downplay homeschooling,
home educators continue to flourish in many ways by performing academically and becoming professionals in their field of study. The reasons parents
chose to homeschool for religious reasons, low standard in public schools, academic advancement, and a safer environment. From my own experience
with homeschooling, its beneficial for a variety of reasons. One reason would be one on one teaching according to the child's learning style. When you
compare this method to the public sector, children are receiving constant tutorial help from their parents. Receiving tutorial help doesn't mean that the
child will not know how to perform without assistance but prepares the child to study on their own and master the scope and sequence of studying. A

Homeschooling is not for everyone and cannot be taken lightly. There are many different reasons why families would rather homeschool instead of
sending their children to public schools. According to parents.com, Jamie Martin wrote an article on What IsHomeschooling? Martin goes on to state

Parents who homeschool are still paying a portion of that $10,000 expense (Investopedia, 2012). One study found that the average homeschooled
student outperformed the average public–school student by roughly 30 percentile points.
There is a process that the parents will need to go through if they do decide to homeschool. Parents should do their research to make sure they are able
and prepared to homeschool their children. Each state has their requirements for homeschooling, and most families pay for the studies themselves. In
certain areas, enrollment in a state–based program is optional. If that is the case, "then the state pays for specific resources in exchange for the
homeschool meeting certain requirements to remain in the program" (Martin, n.d). If the child is already in public or private school and the parent
decides to homeschool. The parent would need to write a letter of withdrawal that has to be given to the school principal or the local superintendent.
Martin also went on to state that, "families that homeschool often combine certain subjects that do not necessarily grade or age–specific, such as
history, literature, and the arts." An example that was used is that, "children of various ages might study the same historical time together, and then be
given assignments that reflect particular age and ability" (Martin, n.d). The largest drawback of homeschooling is that kids lack in socialization when
they enter into college. "Studies have

Homeschooling causes students to miss out on social events that typical students experience and creates issues for their families and future education.
Homeschooled students do not get a conventional high school experience, and they miss out having a sense of school pride and social events such as
football games and pep rallies. The lack of connection with peers can cause loneliness as well. Homeschooling may cause strain on family
relationships and financial problems if the family does not monitor it. Homeschooled students may also not receive the proper rigor needed to succeed
in college or in a conventional classroom setting if he or she wishes to continued their education. They may also lack the skills necessary to succeed in

Homeschool families must adjust to financial changes when making the transition to homeschooling. A household with two working parents turns into
a household with only one working parent. Less money coming in to the household may create financial strain for the family, which in turn can result
in one parent resenting the other. Also, at times the cost of homeschooling and supplies leads to a bigger financial burden. Paying for books and
schooling while receiving less money poses many issues if the family does not prepare for this. Homeschooling sometimes blurs the lines between
parent and teacher and as a result may strain the relationship between the parent and the child. The child may find it hard to confide in his or her
parents because of the skewed line between authority figure or teacher and adult. In some cases homeschooling may strain the relationship between the
parent and the child by not allowing for necessary time away from family. Homeschooling can lead to financial stress and strained relationships between

If you have children, would you like your children to attend both public and private school? Or do you choose to do homeschooling? Although it is
seemed to be less important for us, it could be questionable for every parent, needless to say for for all children. It is because the growth of
homeschooling. According to specific statistics conducted by Jeremy Redford from National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), there is the fact
that the homeschooling rate has kept increasing. The survey conducted by U.S. Department of Education since 1999, has collected national data to
evaluate the number of homeschooled students who ages 5 through 17 with a grade equivalent of kindergarten through grade 12 in the United States.
Followed the statistics, it is showed that the number of homeschooled students are clear increased from 850,000 in 1999 to 1,773,000 in 2012. (Jeremy
Redford, 2017) It means that homeschooling rate for national students had kept increasing from 1.7 to 3.4 in same year with the above number.
Numerically, it could be seemed tiny statistical value. However, when we focus on the increasing trend, it is enough to explain the reason why we need
to pay attention to homeschooling system. Nonetheless, it is less effective for children's personal intellectual and spiritual growth to take
homeschooling, instead of institutional education system.
Firstly, it is hard that homeschooling could help children's personal intellectual growth. The reason is that homeschooling

Many students around the world are transferring from public and private schools into their own homes. Homeschooling has not been very popular in
the past until about last year and since then they have not slowed down. Now many people may argue that homeschooling is the worst thing that you
could do to your child, others may argue that it is one of the best things to happen for your kid. Parents stress all the time and for their sake
homeschooling may not be the best way to go. All over the world students are switching to homeschooling and the numbers are not slowing down.
Now parents may think that homeschooling is the best way to go, but that may not always be the case. They may think that they might be able to take
on the education themselves but what they do not understand is the process that is used to give their child a proper education. There are many legal
aspects that goes into homeschooling, along with having to be their teacher and parent. Now this might have been taken into consideration beforehand
and that great, but they might forget another important factor that they are taking away from their kids. That would be social skills. Whenever a kid
goes into homeschooling they slowly start to lose their social skills and either become socially awkward, or they cannot even function in a large group
of people. Do not get me wrong homeschooling has a lot of benefits as well. Since there is not any standardized testing it helps out a lot for both them
and the parents. What is great about it is that the students can choose what they want to learn so that way it would better suit them when they grow up
and they already have experience in that practice. Another great thing about homeschooling is that the student will not have the problem of never
having free time either to themselves or with their family members. "[H]omeschoolers spend more time in their communities and have meaningful
interactions with a wider variety of people than traditionally schooled children typically do." (McReynolds 40) So there are many different arguments
over whether homeschooling is good or bad. Now to talk about education. The education that one needs is very important and what is the use of it if the

(Ray, Brian D). Home education has it's pros and cons, but for me, and a lot of others, the things that homeschooled students are missing out on are
sufficiently outweighing the benefits. Having been homeschooled kindergarten through seventh grade, and going to public school eighth through
twelfth, I have a pretty good perspective on both and the dynamic difference between them.
Homeschoolers are missing out on the social part of education. I, as a student, enjoyed the switch to public school solely because the number of
friendships I formed with classmates increased rapidly. Homeschooling a kid can take away from memories that are so valuable to him or her growing
up. More importantly, Homeschooling can be expensive for parents. Not just money but time too. The cost of books and curriculum all come from the
parents wallet. For parents, having a full time job can make the challenging task of homeschooling essentially impossible. To make the process that
much harder, parents have to deal with constant interrogation as to why they are homeschooling. "Studies suggest that families have to justify it to
family members, repeatedly." (English, Rebecca).
There is a good reason that only 3.4% of the entire school population in the U.S. is homeschooled. (Smith, Michael). That reason is the overbearing
workload that is brought about to parents that choose the home education route for their kids.
So why do parents burden themselves with the headache of homeschooling? "When the topic comes up in conversation, people often cite studies
showing that homeschoolers score higher on standardized tests" (Dewar, Gwen). Yet most often the reasons for homeschooling their kid wasn't even
for educational purposes, but instead to "transmit the values, beliefs, and worldview of the parents rather than those of a public school system" (Ray,
Brian). A huge benefit for parents is knowing their kid is in a safe learning

Persuasive Essay Homeschooling

  • 1. Persuasive Essay Homeschooling Homeschooling has been around a very long time. It has never been a new thing, it just hasn't been as popular as it used to be (Lines, p. 76). With this topic meaning so much to groups for and against the right for homeschooling and what should be legalized or not, the debate still rages on from local to even national government entities. Both sides of the argument have valid points to be had, but it is ultimately the choice for the parents. There have been many different ways to educate children that the decision is difficult for the parents and their children. Although some educators may criticize the homeschool process by citing a lack of socialization as a problem, parents should consider homeschooling because it is economically beneficial, it allows for flexibility and customization of curriculum, and enables students to master concepts at their own pace. First off, people don't really know what homeschooling is to begin with. Simple reason is that it has no public or academic attention. It has gotten so little attention that it is, in essences, been referred to as the "'quiet revolution'" (Monk, p. 295). Chris Jeub stated it best: "Homeschooling neither isolates children nor harms their academic growth; it does, however, come close to the true definition of education: the passing down of culture" (Jeub, p. 50). Another way to describe it is taking school courses through certified institutions, like a public school or university. Some choose for a program that goes towards a high school degree. Others opt to find someone who is certified to teach (Larsen, p. 92). Back when it first picked up, nobody really knew what it was. Nowadays, it has become more popular and people now know what it is. Surprising, there is a variety of people that do homeschooling, from high–income to low–income families. There are some that have doctorates or even a diploma in a general subject. Families with either one or two parents and differing ethnics and religious or secular inducement choose homeschooling (Ray 2002). They also come to the conclusion that homeschoolers, for the most part, have free reign when it comes to their homework and school pace that they feel that suits them the best. There are many expressed concerns Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Persuasive Essay On Homeschooling Putting kids into homeschooling is not an easy task for parents to take care of. Parents would have to make sure that their kid is receiving the right education he/she needs. "The parents also may have to file paperwork with the state to explain who is teaching the kid and which subjects are being covered" ("Homeschooling"). For the traditional way of schooling teachers, counselors, principals are mostly in charge of kids education, but when it comes to homeschooling, parents and the tutor are in charge of their kid's school. "In fact, more than one million students do it" ("Homeschooling"). According to the quote, that is an unexpectedly big number showing how many kids are homeschooled nowadays. There are many reasons why parents choose to homeschool their kids. Few of these reasons are to provide their kids with a higher quality education, to support a learning disabled child and to make their kid's schedule work with the school if the kids are athletes, actor/actress and so on. First is to provide kids with a higher quality education. "Kids who are homeschooled may benefit from the one–on–one attention. For instance, if you don't understand something in math, the whole class won't be moving on without you" ("Homeschooling"). According to the quote, It is true that kids this way understand what they're learning more because it's easier to ask questions in front of one audience which is the tutor. They learn it until they understand everything steps by step because they're the whole class and they learn at their own pace. Therefore, they receive a higher quality education. Second, to support a learning disabled child who has difficulty learning with other kids. Public schools have a challenging time working with kids who battle learning disabilities, leaving them to feel left out, confused and with low self–esteem. In Order to avoid their kids from this problems, parents choose to homeschool for their child. "When the weight of discouragement and struggle is lifted, one of the first things we see is a change in how kids see themselves" (Parnell, Jessica). Therefore, parents want a better learning environment for their learning disabled kids and they select homeschooling. Finally, some kids have a busy Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Homeschool Do you hate having to wake up early to get ready and drive to school? Are you sometimes late to your 1st period of the day? Well if that's you, maybe public schools aren't for you. You should try homeschool online and forget about being late to your first period ever again. Don't be like the roosters and be smart. I choose homeschool online and the only thing that I regret is not switching faster. Here are some Pros and cons When you're deciding which is best for you. The most important factor is the education that you will be receiving. Sometimes is challenging receiving the best education possible on public schools because of the distractions. If there's no interruptions, then teacher will have no problem teaching and you will have a pretty dissent education but that's rear. While in online homeschool there's no interruptions and your teacher will have a one on one interaction with you to make sure that your are learning your lessons. Also, you wouldn't be doing the same thing as other students because is based on each individual. Base on ("Homeschool World", 2010) a website abouthomeschooling, over 2.4 million students are now learning from home, a 75% increase since 1999. This shows that every year more people are to switching from public schools to homeschools. Another thing, did you know that students that decide to do homeschool are doing better in national test than those in public schools? Maybe is because of the minimum interruptions and more learning, that homeschool online students are out–performing public schools. Another thing that homeschool students are out–performing public school students are communication, daily living, socialization and maturity. Which helps student on there every day lives. The best part of online home school is the schedule. The schedule is based on each individual. For example, I work in the mornings and I get out at 5. I get home and the first thing I do is turned on my laptop and get ready for my next lesson or to revised one of my lessons. The only tricky part of setting your own schedule is following it. Everything is possible, so, don't let that stop you. In the other hand if you're in a public school, you most likely have to follow their schedule. School Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Persuasive Essay On Homeschooling Homeschooling was first introduced in the 1972. In a case Supreme Court case Wisconsin vs. Yoder they fought over the fact that public schools were violating their religious beliefs. The court decided to rule in favor of religious freedom, instead of favoring the states who wanted to require public education for everyone. The ruling that the Supreme Court made did not allow the homeschooled parents to teach the kids however the want. The government was still allowed to intervene to check the child's mental and physical health (Homeschooling, 2017). The main reason the homeschooling began was because of religious reason. Parents didn't want public education to be forced onto their child, since it may of went against their religion. There are even more reasons now to be homeschooled. It would be for religious reasons, or it could be for health reasons. Many parents believe that when their child is being homeschooled they are getting a better, more personalized education. Although homeschooling is seen as not being a viable alternative for public school,it should be. Students who are homeschooled have more skills, and receive a better education in primary school. This will help them greatly once they graduate high school, and go onto college, and even in the workforce. HIghschooling should be a more prominent option for all students. Although proponents say that homeschooling doesn't properly prepare children for the future, homeschooling allows children to have a more Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Persuasive Essay On Homeschooling Homeschooling is not a new concept to the United States, and for many centuries it was the only way for children to get an education. Many of our founding fathers were homeschooled, proving there is nothing wrong with homeschooling, and to this day it continues to provide children with an adequate education. Many parents believe that public school is satisfactory. However, they feel that homeschooling is a better option because it provides a safer environment for their children and more conducive to learning. Homeschooling is an effective method of education as homeschooled students continue to score high marks on national tests, interact socially with other students in all kinds of activities, achieve success in college, and become ...show more content... Town leaders were instructed to watch over their neighbors, and if children were persistently neglected an education, they were to be removed from their homes. In 1647, the General Court of Massachusetts passed a more comprehensive law requiring all towns to provide a school to teach children. The schools were located around the town so as no children had to travel more than one to two miles to attend school. During that time, a public school did not necessarily mean free. Some students were required to pay part of the cost by paying tuition, providing wood for the school, or lodging for the schoolmaster. Between 1867 and 1918 all states had passed compulsory school attendance laws. By the 1920's, there were two significant Supreme Court decisions that curtailed the influence of compulsory attendance and would help to legalize the modern home school movement years later (Gatto 2001). In 1923, the Court ruled in Myer vs. Nebraska case that the state's right over education is not absolute and in 1925 the Court, in Pierce vs. Society of Sisters, said Oregon parents could not be denied their own schools to teach their children (Gatto 2001). By the late 1960's, the rise of the hippie culture brought back the concept of homeschooling. Hippies rebelled against everything and this included education. The 1970's brought about the Biblical Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Thesis Statement On Homeschooling Students Thesis Statement:Students should not be homeschooled because they do not take standardized tests and do not have certain support systems that public schools have. Body Paragraph #1 Topic Sentence: Homeschooling children does not have certain requirements that are necessary in thepublic school district. Supporting Evidence #1: In the article it say, "Public school students are tested and graded to ensure that they understand the subject matter. For homeschooled students, however, there are no required subjects and the statute simply speaks in terms of instruction" (Richardson,2013). Explanation: Homeschooled students should be required to take the subjects just like public schools do. They need to be tested at all times to make sure they understand what you are teaching them,...show more content... So we can know our children are getting the proper curriculum. Homeschooled students should know the same thing as our public schools children do. Also, we need to know how the child works and if they have any progress in all the subjects that the teacher teaches. The teachers can not know how the child is doing, if there are no tests to show it. Supporting Evidence #2: But there's more; statics also say, "We need the conversation to change, Coleman said. We're not denying that there are plenty of abusers in public schools, but we have a system in place to help them. That's something homeschoolers don't have" (Stafford,2015). Explanation: There is never a time when people go through the hardest times in life. Or want someone to talk to. Public schools provide help for that. They have counselors for students to talk to. They have programs for students to express their feelings and help them come out there shell. But as for homeschooling, they do not have systems for that. Homeschooling does not provide counseling for their Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The main controversy of this case was whether an Amish parent could teach their children they way they wanted to based on their religion. The court decided to rule in favor of religious freedom instead of favoring the states who wanted to require public education for everyone. • 8. Persuasive Essay On Homeschooling Wake up, get dressed, go to school. Monday through Friday 7:30am–2:30pm. Age 7–18 is where most people figure out who they are and what they want to pursue as a career. But they spend those years being shuffled through the halls from class to class being shown how to do math problems that they don't understand. Even the electives, such as art expect the children to produce the same image somewhat replicating an assembly line. The most devastating thing about the school system is the problems they have identifying where they need to separate learning from allowing the person to gain their own sense of identity. Where the regular school system goes wrong is the steps they take to have the children go through and do the same thing over and over so they can pass a test and move on to the next process. There has to be another way, without an alternative to the public school system we would all be the same despite our differences. I believe that homeschooling or unschooling is a more successful way of getting an education that fits each and every person is some way or another. According to Susan Wise Bauer the American school system is "one size fits all" (1), but in fact, I believe that it is not every child has a very different style of learning. In fact, every child has a different style of learning and also has different speeds of comprehending the material they are being taught. Now imagine you are attending a public school in a wealthy community. This community also Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Persuasive Essay On Homeschooling Homeschooling a child can drastically affect their lives in the future, and put them in a clouded state of mind for seeing what the world is. Schooling your child from home will hold them back from learning a wide variety of basic skills that can be easily provided in public or private school systems. Although some see homeschooling as a good way to shelter their children from the world they view as harsh, it is not giving them any chance to gain common social skills. Social skills cannot be taught to a child, they are something the child must learn from interaction with his or her peers. Furthermore, homeschool teachers are not required the level of training and experience that a teacher at a public school are required (Hudak). Diversity is something widely portrayed in school systems; however, homeschooling doesn't allow students to bear witness to the diverse nature found in school systems. Homeschooling was once a completely normal thing to do, before the Industrial Revolution, with children learning basic lifetime skills instead of school work. Any form or education received would be from a family member or a friend. Learning would depend on the busyness of the farming season for most too, with some family's needing as many working hands as possible. After the industrialization of America, attendance laws had been put in place that required children to attend some form of school to receive an education. However, it was not required to be a public school; private schooling and home schooling was also commissioned. After gaining a momentum in the 1960's, a large amount of Christens had started to become paranoid about the secularization in the public schooling system. Due to the discourage and outlawing of prayer in school, religious families saw homeschooling as an alternative to giving their children an education while also keeping them from losing their personal values. For these people, homeschooling was the only option they had available. In the 1980's homeschooling started to become more accepted in the world of education (Valentine). Although not becoming officially permitted in all the states until 2012, many students were already participating in homeschooling in the already permitted states Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Persuasive Essay On Homeschooling Homeschooling refers to the procedure of teaching kids from home instead of sending them to public or private schools. This is when they are taught by parents, brothers, sisters, a neighborhood friend, or online. Homeschooling is not for everybody and as we will see later the pros and cons of homeschooling. People say it is good because there is not busy work all the work can be done in a few hours. Then, people say it is bad because parents or whoever is teaching has to be with the kids all the time in order for them to be able to understand what is being taught to their full potential. Lastly, you may say socializing is not that important but without socializing kids will have a higher chance of them running into trouble either with the juvenile or adult legal system, also cause them to have aggressive or violent behavior because they are not use to talking to people outside their household and cause depression because they do not have any friends or anybody to hang out with. But, If home schooled, they may be at a disadvantage of the chance to form friendships which will cause them suffer socially. The lack of socialization may affect them in later stages of life. Then if kids do not socialize with other kids they will not learn things like patience because you have to have experience with dealing with all types of people to be able to have patience also they will have a hard time making friends when they are done with school and move on to college or just moving out of their parents house and this where depression plays a part because they will eventually become lonely not having any socializing skills. • 11. Speech On Homeschooling ВЁHomeschooling is a middle ground for parents who do not want their children in public school, but do not want to or cannot pay the price of private or charter schoolsВЁ (The City Writes). There are approximately 2.2 million students in the U.S. that are being homeschooled, of that number only a handful of them go to college. Homeschooling was originally for students with disabilities, but is no longer used solely for that purpose. Although homeschooling may be central to a busy child's life, it should be eliminated because it minimizes the range of information in daily lessons, strains relationships between students and teachers, and eradicates social skills. Despite the fact homeschooling gives families the freedom of planning it absolutely...show more content... Stated in an article on Shmoop, "you'll [parents] be adding teacher, guidance counselor, and principal. Even if you take the most carefree unschooling approach possible, at some point along the way, you will likely have to act in one or all of these roles to help your child learn a new concept or make a decision about her future." This undoubtedly proves that children should attend school and not homeschool as it can ruin relations for them and future generations in their family. This why you should never homeschool any children regardless of their issues. In yet another article written by Sagari Gongala she states, "When you choose to homeschool, you are doubling up as a teacher. So you are going to spend all your waking time with the child on a school day. Public schools allow you to be just a "mom"." Another valid point of why children should not be homeschooled is because it not only helps the kids to gain social skills, but it gives parents a period of time to relax. Which definitely proves why children should never homeschool since it can truly affect how kids will behave, as well as their confidence. Public school helps alleviate tension between students and teachers while also allowing students the freedom of friendship and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

"Homeschooled students are weird and do not know how to play like other kids". Have you ever been one to think homeschooling is not the best option, or would somehow set a child apart from a child who attends a traditional school? Many people do believe this or have been taught this very thing, but research has shown those two statements to be false and the opposite of the facts. Half of the United States do NOT require homeschooled students to be vaccinated, or show proof of such, according to the Coalition for Responsible Home Education (Klein, 2015). Homeschooling can be an absolutely wonderful experience, but that comes with a price. You have to ask yourself "is it worth it?" Most homeschooled students and parents would happily tell you yes. What an honest person would tell you is that it is the best experience, but it comes with a "price". The cons of homeschooling are far less than the pros. Some of the cons are: child being misunderstood by peers, lack of exposure to everyday events, less friends due to not being in a social setting on a daily basis, less opportunities for organized sports such as school teams, less freedom for mother and child, and lack of support from peers and co–op groups (Spooner, 2016). The following will discuss how these are not exactly cons, and could be viewed as pros instead. There is no limit to a child's success when it comes to homeschooling. They are not limited to just core subjects. They follow no particular curriculum or set pace, they learn about real life through real things, take real test that will help them through real situations, and can begin grades that are far beyond their age. You will learn there really are no cons to homeschooling, if homeschooling is a good option for your family. Technology has made huge Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. For the first 230 years of our history, parents, not the government, were in charge. Competence in reading, writing, and arithmetic was nearly universal at the time of the American Revolution. But by the mid–nineteenth century, a band of reformers led by Horace Mann of Massachusetts replaced our founding, free–market education system with a system of state–run education, with compulsory attendance and standardized curriculum. (Forstmann, 2001) Homeschooling has been around for a long time and is not going anywhere. It continues to increase as the year's pass, and it's not slowing down. Many pioneers have fought for homeschooling, and new ones continue to surface. While the public education continues to downplay homeschooling, home educators continue to flourish in many ways by performing academically and becoming professionals in their field of study. The reasons parents chose to homeschool for religious reasons, low standard in public schools, academic advancement, and a safer environment. From my own experience with homeschooling, its beneficial for a variety of reasons. One reason would be one on one teaching according to the child's learning style. When you compare this method to the public sector, children are receiving constant tutorial help from their parents. Receiving tutorial help doesn't mean that the child will not know how to perform without assistance but prepares the child to study on their own and master the scope and sequence of studying. In both articles, the parents have different reasons for why they are choosing to homeschool instead of keeping their children in public or private schools. Homeschooling is not for everyone and cannot be taken lightly. There are many different reasons why families would rather homeschool instead of sending their children to public schools. One study found that the average homeschooled student outperformed the average public–school student by roughly 30 percentile points. There is a process that the parents will need to go through if they do decide to homeschool. Parents should do their research to make sure they are able and prepared to homeschool their children. Each state has their requirements for homeschooling, and most families pay for the studies themselves. In certain areas, enrollment in a state–based program is optional. If that is the case, "then the state pays for specific resources in exchange for the homeschool meeting certain requirements to remain in the program" (Martin, n.d). If the child is already in public or private school and the parent decides to homeschool. The parent would need to write a letter of withdrawal that has to be given to the school principal or the local superintendent. Martin also went on to state that, "families that homeschool often combine certain subjects that do not necessarily grade or age–specific, such as history, literature, and the arts." An example that was used is that, "children of various ages might study the same historical time together, and then be given assignments that reflect particular age and ability" (Martin, n.d). Also, at times the cost of homeschooling and supplies leads to a bigger financial burden. Paying for books and schooling while receiving less money poses many issues if the family does not prepare for this. Homeschooling sometimes blurs the lines between parent and teacher and as a result may strain the relationship between the parent and the child. • 18. Persuasive Essay On Homeschooling If you have children, would you like your children to attend both public and private school? Or do you choose to do homeschooling? Although it is seemed to be less important for us, it could be questionable for every parent, needless to say for for all children. It is because the growth of homeschooling. According to specific statistics conducted by Jeremy Redford from National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), there is the fact that the homeschooling rate has kept increasing. The survey conducted by U.S. Department of Education since 1999, has collected national data to evaluate the number of homeschooled students who ages 5 through 17 with a grade equivalent of kindergarten through grade 12 in the United States. Followed the statistics, it is showed that the number of homeschooled students are clear increased from 850,000 in 1999 to 1,773,000 in 2012. (Jeremy Redford, 2017) It means that homeschooling rate for national students had kept increasing from 1.7 to 3.4 in same year with the above number. Numerically, it could be seemed tiny statistical value. However, when we focus on the increasing trend, it is enough to explain the reason why we need to pay attention to homeschooling system. Nonetheless, it is less effective for children's personal intellectual and spiritual growth to take homeschooling, instead of institutional education system. Firstly, it is hard that homeschooling could help children's personal intellectual growth. The reason is that homeschooling Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Persuasive Essay On Homeschooling Many students around the world are transferring from public and private schools into their own homes. Homeschooling has not been very popular in the past until about last year and since then they have not slowed down. Now many people may argue that homeschooling is the worst thing that you could do to your child, others may argue that it is one of the best things to happen for your kid. Parents stress all the time and for their sake homeschooling may not be the best way to go. All over the world students are switching to homeschooling and the numbers are not slowing down. Now parents may think that homeschooling is the best way to go, but that may not always be the case. They may think that they might be able to take on the education themselves but what they do not understand is the process that is used to give their child a proper education. There are many legal aspects that goes into homeschooling, along with having to be their teacher and parent. Now this might have been taken into consideration beforehand and that great, but they might forget another important factor that they are taking away from their kids. That would be social skills. Whenever a kid goes into homeschooling they slowly start to lose their social skills and either become socially awkward, or they cannot even function in a large group of people. Do not get me wrong homeschooling has a lot of benefits as well. Since there is not any standardized testing it helps out a lot for both them and the parents. What is great about it is that the students can choose what they want to learn so that way it would better suit them when they grow up and they already have experience in that practice. Another great thing about homeschooling is that the student will not have the problem of never having free time either to themselves or with their family members. "[H]omeschoolers spend more time in their communities and have meaningful interactions with a wider variety of people than traditionally schooled children typically do." (McReynolds 40) So there are many different arguments over whether homeschooling is good or bad. Now to talk about education. The education that one needs is very important and what is the use of it if the student will not question Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Persuasive Essay On Homeschooling Stay Home For Education A tremendous decision a parent or guardian has to make once their child is of age is whether to put him or her in a public school or school them at home. Homeschooling is slowly growing in the US "from nealy nonexistent in the 1970s to roughly two million students in grades K to 12 by 2009" (Ray, Brian D). Home education has it's pros and cons, but for me, and a lot of others, the things that homeschooled students are missing out on are sufficiently outweighing the benefits. Having been homeschooled kindergarten through seventh grade, and going to public school eighth through twelfth, I have a pretty good perspective on both and the dynamic difference between them. Homeschoolers are missing out on the social part of education. I, as a student, enjoyed the switch to public school solely because the number of friendships I formed with classmates increased rapidly. Homeschooling a kid can take away from memories that are so valuable to him or her growing up. More importantly, Homeschooling can be expensive for parents. Not just money but time too. The cost of books and curriculum all come from the parents wallet. For parents, having a full time job can make the challenging task of homeschooling essentially impossible. To make the process that much harder, parents have to deal with constant interrogation as to why they are homeschooling. "Studies suggest that families have to justify it to family members, repeatedly." (English, Rebecca). There is a good reason that only 3.4% of the entire school population in the U.S. is homeschooled. (Smith, Michael). That reason is the overbearing workload that is brought about to parents that choose the home education route for their kids. So why do parents burden themselves with the headache of homeschooling? "When the topic comes up in conversation, people often cite studies showing that homeschoolers score higher on standardized tests" (Dewar, Gwen). Yet most often the reasons for homeschooling their kid wasn't even for educational purposes, but instead to "transmit the values, beliefs, and worldview of the parents rather than those of a public school system" (Ray, Brian). A huge benefit for parents is knowing their kid is in a safe learning Get more content on HelpWriting.net
