Final Solution by Mahesh Dattani
п‚ЇIntroduction:– Final Solutions has taken the issues of the majority communities in different contexts and situations. It talks of the problems of
cultural hegemony, how Hindus had to suffer at the hands of Muslim majority like the characters of Hardika/Daksha in Hussainabad. And how
Muslims like Javed suffer in the set up of the majority Hindu community. This all resulted in communal riots and culminated in disruption of the
normal social life, and thus hampered the progress of the nation. The mob in the play is symbolic of our own hatred and paranoia. Each member of the
mob is an individual, yet they meet into one seething whole as the politicians play on their fears. In this play, the chorus continuously sings sometimes

the way you want without blaming other people for your failure like we did many years ago. Her problems have no meaning for Bobby and Javed
and their problems have no meaning for her. Hardika and Javed are easily excited and are kept in dark about the reality of the things. The death of
Hardika's father at the hands of Muslims is of no concern for Bobby and Javed, and Javed's sister's safety has no meaning for Hardika. Their
experiences are their own. Each of them is trapped in his/her own experiences. Hardika and Javed both have the bitter tastes of the minority
community. Hardika's father was murdered because they were member of the minority Hindu community in Pakistan during Partition and Javed has
become a terrorist because he is from the minority Muslim community in India. Javed explains to Ramnik his reasons for involving himself in
Terrorism and acts of sabotage on the Hindu procession (Rath Yatra). "Anyone sitting at home, sipping tea and reading the newspaper will say that it
is obvious that a minority would never start a riot, we are too afraid that it had to be politically motivated. The selfish and petty politicians still play

Thesis Statement For Teen Suicide
Research Question:
How can teen suicide be prevented?
Thesis Statement:
Even though teen suicide is one of the leading causes of deaths in teenagers, there are many ways it can be prevented.
Summary of Topic:
Suicide is the third leading cause of deaths in adolescents in the United States. Teensuicide is also often referred to as a permanent solution to a
temporary problem. Teens so often are suicidal and attempt suicide as a call for help from others. They have no intention in dying they are just trying
to cry out for help from anyone that will listen. Many reasons cause teen to attempt suicide, varying from bullying to psychological disorders. In fact,
psychological disorders accounts for about 90% of teens who attempt or commit suicide. Teenagers are also at higher risk of suicide when they are

Teen suicide is something that is endless, it will never stop but if everyone was educated on it, it could help prevent deaths. I think with people
provided with statistics and further information can help avoid adolescent suicide attempts. I think most teen suicide cases could be prevent if we
knew the signs to look for and the ways to stop it. I believe parents would feel safer if they knew knowledge on the issue and how to handle it. The
intended audiences for this essay is parents or friends of suicidal teens. This essay is important because, as mentioned earlier, we need to be educated
on suicide to end tons of tragedies. It is also important to be aware of the warning signs to help prevent. This essay is relevant because teen suicide is
a war that happens daily, and will continue to happen, until we take control of the situation and do something to stop it. If family members were
informed of the cause and symptoms leading up to the attempt of suicide, then there is less likely that teenagers would try and commit

Solutions To Problems In Georgia
In Georgia you will find a lake, amazing agricultural land and some pretty amazing mountains. There are many problems in the other thirteen
colonies, but if you come to Georgia we can help solve some of those problems. Many other colonies have very low food and drink supply,
however we have rivers such as the HUGE mississippi river and great agricultural land in Georgia. The river provides fish for food and water to
drink, while the great land can be used to grow tons of crops. Also some of the other colonies have financial problems from not paying debut.
However, here we have many great crops that we can trade for money, which gives us stable money support.

Problems with Wildlife Essay
Problems with Wildlife
It is blatantly obvious that the level of wildlife has been decreasing amazingly over the years. Species of animals and plants are rapidly becoming
endangered or even extinct.
There are many factors that are making this problem a reality. Habitat destruction, hunting, and pollution are the three major factors that are destroying
our wildlife.
The destruction of habitat is the greatest of all threats to wildlife, whether they're rich tropical forests, mangroves, swamps, coral reefs, or your own
local grassland or woods. Most wild plants and animals are so closely adapted to their own particular habitat that they become rare...show more

This enters the shallow sea coral area from nearby rivers and kills the live corals.
People have hunted animals and collected wild plants for thousands of years. In the early days of human evolution, it was necessary to survive. Today,
however, hunting continues mostly as a sport, or in more sinister fashion as illegal poaching for profit. Beautiful shells and some kinds of wild plant,
including cacti, are collected as well.
The large whales were hunted almost to the point of no return for their meat, oil, and fat. In the 1980's most countries halted this activity and whale
population now shows signs of recovery. Dolphins, smaller cousins of the whales, suffer from being snared in fishing nets and many die accidentally
by drowning.
Hunting has had a major impact on large mammals, especially on the open plains and savannas of Africa. Rhinoceroses, elephants, and others are easily
spotted and shot. Elephants are the largest living land mammal and the only remaining representative of the order Proboscides, which during the
Pleistocene period roamed every landmass except Australia and Antarctica. And they are just killed to the point where they are

Problems And Solutions Of California Essay
Problem/Solution
For many years California has been becoming more and more dry. Year to year there is less rainfall and snowpack, which in turn leads to less
available water for residents and farmers in the state. The less water that is available means that the more that one uses, the more they are charged.
This has caused many people to let grass, trees, and other features that require frequent watering die off. The accumulation of dead shrubbery around
many places in California now can be seen as a fire hazard. Others have replaced the grass and trees with succulents or even concrete to reduce the
amount of water that they use in an effort to reduce their water bills. California needs to put forth a greater effort to stop and find a way to fulfil their
water requirements. There are a few different options and directions that California can go about doing this, for example California can regulate
farmers more than they are now and build more desalination plants along the very large coastline.
As far back as 1976 there have been reports that California has been experiencing signs of a drought. Apparently many people did not take notice
to this at all. Many of these people were and are farmers who grow water heavy crops such as almonds. Which take "approximately 1.1 gallons of
water for one almond. Which can be multiplied by a bag of almonds multiplied by 6000 almond farmers in California's central valley at an estimated
600 million pounds of almonds per year". That is an

Solution Essay On Water Pollution
Pollution Have you ever imagine live in a world where you can go out and breath fresh air? Where can you drink water or swim in the ocean with no
worries of getting any disease? That could be possible if we help our planet and if we reduce the levels of water, air, land, and light pollution. Why
should we care? Now a days, pollution is getting bigger and bigger every day, and we should take care immediately due we do not have other planet
where to live. If we do not do anything, no one will do it. If we destroy our planet, we are destroying ourselves, and we have to remember that most
of our problems are the reflection of our actions. If we compare a way of life that helps the planet in which we live in contrast to the chaotic reality
that we inhabit. To begin with, water pollution is one of the biggest pollution that we are facing and "it is caused by many factors including (but
certainly not limited to): uncontrolled constructions sites, leaking sewer lines, storm water runoff, accidental spills and leaks, improper discharge of
wastes, mining activities, foundries, animal waste, and others." (Water Pollution Solutions | 7 Simple Solutions) But we can try to fic this with one of
these solutions. For example, create a group in your community in order to consciousness in your community, also look for more information and try
to persuade others, and something that all of us can do in our own houses is close the tap when we finish to use the water. When there is a group in a

Problems of education connect to funding, teacher quality and the status of the teaching profession, student academic performance and standardized

Schools, districts, states, and the federal government should be financially accountable to the public, with policymakers accountable to provide the
resources needed to produce positive results. Policies should assist and encourage parents, families, and communities to be actively involved and
engaged in their public schools. These policies should require professional development programs for all educators to include the skills and knowledge
needed for effective parental and community communication and engagement strategies. And finally they should provide incentives or require
employers to grant a reasonable amount of leave for parents to participate in their children's school activities. A qualified, caring, diverse, and stable
workforce in our schools requires a pool of well prepared, highly skilled candidates for all vacancies, quality induction for new teachers with mentoring
services from trained veteran teachers, opportunities for continual improvement and growth for all employees, working conditions in which they can be
successful, and professional compensation and benefits. School funding systems must provide adequate, equitable and sustainable funding. Making
taxes fair and eliminating inefficient and ineffective business subsidies are essential prerequisites to achieving adequacy, equity, and stability in school

and also ways to prevent them. Introduction: Don't you wish we could get away with eating anything and not worry about problems occurring in the

Scaling means scraping off tartar from above and below the gum line. Root planning gets rid of rough spots on the teeth where germs gather and
helps remove as much as bacteria as possible. G.Medications can also be another way to cure it which includes the scaling and root planning
surgically depending on how bad the disease is. II.Another common dental problem one can get is bad breath. A.Bad breath is the most common
in mostly teenagers and early adulthood. It can be a sign of leading to a bigger dental problem or some other kind of sickness in the body. B.Bad
breath may be caused by several things. 1.The kind of food you eat like onions and garlic can cause real bad breath because foods are digested and
absorbed into your bloodstream, they are eventually carried to your lungs and given off in your breath until food has passed down completely
throughout the body. 2.Another way you can get bad breath is by not cleaning your tongue. After eating, all the food is absorbed in your teeth, gums ,
and on the tongue which leads to very bad breath because bacteria is growing beneath all the particles. 3.Bad breath can be a step closer to another
problem in the mouth like minor gum disease, or dry mouth. Saliva is necessary to moisten and cleanse the mouth by neutralizing acids produced by
plaque. Medications are the main side effects that can cause dry

Essay on Wildfires
A wildfire is any instance of uncontrolled burning in grasslands, brush, or woodlands. Wildfires destroy property and valuable natural resources, and
may threaten the lives of people and animals. Wildfires can occur at any time of the year, but usually occur during hot, dry weather. Wildfires are
usually signaled by dense smoke which may fill the air for miles around. The National Weather Service, U.S. Forest Service, and State forestry
agencies combine to give wildfire probability forecasts. Local radio and television stations broadcast information and warnings on local fire conditions.
Wildfires pose an increasing threat to the residential United States. In 1987, 53,000 fires consumed more than two million acres. By October 1988,

On the actual day of the fire, the fire planners will again check such conditions as wind and moisture content in the vegetation. The wind direction
will determine where the fire is started. Fire crews start the burn with a device called a drip torch. A drip torch is a can of fuel with a flame–carrying
wick at the end. When the crewmember tilts the wick toward the ground, a flame streams out and ignites the vegetation. Most of the effort that goes
into a prescribed fire is making sure that it is contained in the boundaries set for the fire. Firefighters and fire suppression equipment are near the site if
the fire grows out of control (www.nps.gov/wica/fir–why.html, pgs. 1–3).
While not all the effects of prescribed burns are known some are very evident. The first of these common effects is that vegetation and fallen dead
material are burned creating an open forest floor. This eliminates any fuel that could contribute to a high intensity fire in the future. When the fire burns
the organic material in the forest, nutrient rich ash is left behind. When the first rain comes, the nutrients in the ash dissolve into the soil for the new
plants to use. This process is called nutrient recycling. These nutrients left in the soil are a good source of food for the young plants that will begin to
grow back. Another outcome of prescribed fire is that new growth begins immediately after the fires have been extinguished. Within

Violence In Media And Media Violence
With technology becoming more advanced every year the public is becoming increasingly concerned with the link between the violence in media and
actual violence between humans. However, this topic has not only gained interest by the public but researchers are intrigued by the connection as well.
One of the subdivisions associated with media is, gaming culture. Yet, its association with developingviolence among the youth and young adults has
not been touched upon by many researchers. Although, the few who have looked into the violence within the realm of gaming have found many
connections involving variables such as age, race, ethnicity, gender, personality, and acts of violence.
In the study, Exposure to Media Violence and Other Correlates of Aggressive Behavior in Preschool Children; researchers, Perez and Daly, looked
into whether violence in media such as television and video games affected how children behaved or how they got along with others during play time.
In order to conduct this research they selected seven preschools. After the parents who wished to have their child participate gave consent there was
officially a sample size of 70 children (32 female, 38 male). Then to create a control the researchers survey and rated the classroom environment, the
teachers, the parents, and the children's ability to be self–regulatory. As a result, researchers found that children who were highly self–regulatory were
more physically violent and those who had low self–regulation

'Energy Story And Conducting Solutions'
In the articles "Energy Story" and "Conducting Solutions", as well as the video, "Hands–On Science with Squishy Circuits", they all have similar
purposes. The first article's purpose was to teach people how electricity and energy works. The second article informs people about how different
solutions can create electric currents. In addition, the video's purpose was to persuade people to do hands on science with their children while teaching
them how Play–Doh is a circuit. They all have different purposes, but they all have the same topic for their purposes, electricity.
In paragraph eleven of "Energy Story" it explains how electrons can work. The author states "Electrons can be made to move from one atom to another."
and continues to "When...show more content...
In paragraph two, it states "Pure water contains very few ions, so it does not conduct electricity well. When table salt is dissolved in water, the solution
conducts very well, because the solutions contain ions.". In paragraph four, it explains how laundry ammonia can conduct electricity. It states "When
ammonia dissolves in water, it reacts with the water and forms a few ions.". In conclusion, paragraph five explains more about how ammonia can cause
electricity when it is put into a solution with vinegar.
In the video, "Hands–On Science with Squishy Circuits", Anne Marie Thomas does a TED talk about Play–Doh circuits. She explains how she teaches
her daughter about electricity by making homemade Play–Doh. At 1:42, she demonstrates with an LED light, Play–Doh that contains salt, Play–Doh
that contains sugar, and batteries. She splits the salty Play–Doh in two and connects them with the batteries. To conclude, she sticks the LED light in
both of the "squishy circuits" and it turns on.
From reading and watching the articles and video, I learned a lot about electricity. Their purposes were different but still had a connection which
helped me learn more and more about my topic. Since they were all diverse within the same topic, I got to learn not just about how electricity works,
but how different solutions can form energy and how different, everyday things can make

Problem and Solution of Global Warming
Global warming is the observed increase in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and oceans. Higher temperatures threaten dangerous
consequences: drought, disease, floods, and lost ecosystems. From sweltering heat to rising seas, global warming's effects have already begun. Many
people still believe that since the earth is so big, human beings cannot possibly have any major impact on the way the planet operates. The truth is we
have grown so numerous and our technologies have become so powerful that we are now capable of having a significant influence on many parts of
the earth's environment (Gore 22). Without the help of the human race, and the listening ears of our politicians, we are going to leave this extreme
crisis to the...show more content...
Another solution, and possibly the first step for the world to work together to reduce global warming, is to put energy efficient, renewable energy, and
vehicle technology solutions in place at a federal level. California has been the only state to step up to the plate. In August 2006, the California state
legislature passed the landmark Global Warming Solutions Act which mandates that the state'sgreenhouse gas emissions be rolled back to 1990 levels
by 2020 (The Vote Heard around the World 1). This first
–in–the–nation law puts a cap on gas emissions from power plants, refineries, and
manufacturing plants. Since the United States currently produces 70 percent of its electricity from fossil fuels and only two percent from renewable
resources, it is certain that by converting into more efficient and renewable energy it would significantly reduce our emissions of heat–trapping gases.
Solutions for global warming include big changes, but they also include little things people can do everyday. My proposal is to simply get the word
out to everyone. Teaching children in school and people at home how to implement steps on helping solve global warming is very important in today's
world. One thing everyone can do is simply reduce emissions from your home energy use by using energy–efficient lighting and appliances, insulating
your house, conserving hot water, and turning off lights and computers when you're finished with them. It's

Self Driving Cars Essay
Self–driving cars are beneficial because they're going to improve the safety and reduce traffic in our society. According to Urmson, Chris and

Vehicle crashes are one of the main reasons many people die in their first half of life than any other cause. There are many different benefits that these
self–driving vehicles will offer that will cause change and prosperity in safe traveling and traffic flow. Driving will become safer with fewer mistakes

always take a second to absurd what is going on before making a sudden action. Last but not least always keep a safe distance just in case to be safe.
The solution to reduce in traffic jams is self–driving cars. These cars can follow more closely packed at higher speeds and as a result this saves time
and reduces the need for more roads to be built. This is due to the intercar communication between self–driving cars that allow intelligent convoying.
According to Will Knight's "A simple wireless technology promises to make driving much safer" the technology that allows these cars to communicate
is called car–to–car or vehicle–to–vehicle communication. This intercar communication lets cars broadcast their position, speed, steering–wheel
position, brake status, and other data to other vehicles within a few hundred meters. The information given to the other cars can be used to build a
detailed picture of what's going on around them, uncovering trouble that even the best driver, or the best sensor system could miss or fail to anticipate.
Communication between the cars would make traveling smoother they

Teen Suicide: A Growing Problem Essay
'Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.';
Teen suicide as an extremely complex tragedy, that unfortunately happens all the time throughout the United States. There are friends, parents, and
peers that are facing the misfortune of losing a young, close, loved one to suicide. Most people don't realize that adolescent suicide is common. They
don't want to believe how often this occurs in the secure environment found in the small towns of America, as well as in its largest cities.
Suicide is the third leading cause of death for 15 to 24 year olds, and the sixth leading cause for 5 to 14 year olds. Suicide accounts for twelve percent

? Put his/her affairs in order—for example, give away favorite possessions, clean his/her room, throw away important belongings, etc.
? Become suddenly cheerful after a period of depression.
There are many misconceptions about suicide. These are also known as myths of suicide. For some reason people tend to think that adolescents who
talk about suicide are not serious about doing it. This is untrue, it has been proven that almost all suicidal teens have at one point verbally or
nonverbally, told someone about their considering suicide. This leads to another myth, that suicide happens without warning. For the same reason as
the myth, adolescents aren't serious about it, suicide usually occurs with at least one warning. Some other myths are once an adolescent is suicidal, he

will not make and additional attempt (adolescent who actually made the attempt); Adolescents who commit suicide always leave notes (only a small

places. America should take banning smoking more serious. Anti–smoking laws can also be used to regulate cigarette advertising by tobacco
companies. In South Africa for instance, cigarette advertising is banned Most people who smoke hardly have any idea of the end result of their
smoking habit. Information of the smoking must be made widely available especially to teen smokers. More smoking solutions would also include
massive stop smoking campaigns via TV, radio, internet, billboards, SMS and over medium can also be effective in communicating the stop smoking

Education Debt: The Problem and Solutions Essay
With the ever–increasing tuition and ever–tighten federal student aid, the number of students relying on student loan to fund a college education hits a

sources is the use of different rhetorical appeals. Most of the authors use a combination of logos and ethos, and some use a combination of logos and
pathos. It seems that they all share the same goal that they want to improve the student loan program and make college education affordable. I also
found some web sources that have a divergent view. For example, "Debt Burden: Repaying Student Debt", a report written by American Council on
Education, the only higher education organization that represents presidents and chancellors of all types of U.S. accredited, degree–granting
institutions. This report describes the borrowing and repayment experiences of 1992/93 and 1999/2000 bachelor's degree recipients one year after

Rough Draft Essay
A "rough draft" is something someone writes with the express purpose of getting their ideas out on paper. Expectedly, more often than not, people will
write multiple drafts before writing their final, in an effort to get to their best paper. I was, of course, introduced to the phenomenon that is the rough
draft in middle school. Interestingly, whenever I attempted to write a rough draft, my thoughts would become muddled and slowly but surely, I was
left with nothing to write. Hardly after being introduced to the rough draft than I jettisoned it; in fact, it is because of that dismissal that has prompted
me to adopt a different method. My alternative method is a rather simple one: I ruminate on a particular topic with the purpose of gathering...show more

The first step is something I like to call, The Royal Rumble of Ideas. The path in which my paper will follow as well as my thoughts and ideas are
formed from the first process. The way in which it does this, is by requiring the writer to apply an abundant amount of focus on one particular area;
whereas, the typical strategy, asks for the writer to just write (cue eye roll). If I am to construct a story, I must utilize this step. En passant, I might
add, the crux of the former element is very much similar to the latter, as well as in the way in which it works. The commonality to which I am
referring, is rumination. The simplicity of it is bemusing, especially considering it's efficiency, but I will describe that later. The way this is utilized, is
by requiring the writer to mull over what they will write next. For example: When I am writing, regardless of the type of paper, I will deeply
contemplate what my next sentence will be and how it will be phrased. Incidentally, in English class, I will often be seen staring into the ether, as if I
am on a psychotropic drug. There is, however, a reason behind this seemingly sinister image. As I described, rumination is crucial in my writing
process: In order to produce a sentence, or a paragraph for that matter, I must distill information from that contemplation. (See, it even

Final Solution By Mahesh Dattani

  • 1. Final Solution by Mahesh Dattani п‚ЇIntroduction:– Final Solutions has taken the issues of the majority communities in different contexts and situations. It talks of the problems of cultural hegemony, how Hindus had to suffer at the hands of Muslim majority like the characters of Hardika/Daksha in Hussainabad. And how Muslims like Javed suffer in the set up of the majority Hindu community. This all resulted in communal riots and culminated in disruption of the normal social life, and thus hampered the progress of the nation. The mob in the play is symbolic of our own hatred and paranoia. Each member of the mob is an individual, yet they meet into one seething whole as the politicians play on their fears. In this play, the chorus continuously sings sometimes under the...show more content... When she is alone with the boys, she asks them to leave India and go to Pakistan for good, as she still doubts the commitment of Muslims to the nation. Hardika : Have you ever thought of going to Pakistan? Bobby : No Hardika : Why not? Javed: I prefer Dubai Hardika : There you can live the way you want without blaming other people for your failure like we did many years ago. Her problems have no meaning for Bobby and Javed and their problems have no meaning for her. Hardika and Javed are easily excited and are kept in dark about the reality of the things. The death of Hardika's father at the hands of Muslims is of no concern for Bobby and Javed, and Javed's sister's safety has no meaning for Hardika. Their experiences are their own. Each of them is trapped in his/her own experiences. Hardika and Javed both have the bitter tastes of the minority community. Hardika's father was murdered because they were member of the minority Hindu community in Pakistan during Partition and Javed has become a terrorist because he is from the minority Muslim community in India. Javed explains to Ramnik his reasons for involving himself in Terrorism and acts of sabotage on the Hindu procession (Rath Yatra). "Anyone sitting at home, sipping tea and reading the newspaper will say that it is obvious that a minority would never start a riot, we are too afraid that it had to be politically motivated. The selfish and petty politicians still play with the emotions of the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Thesis Statement For Teen Suicide Research Question: How can teen suicide be prevented? Thesis Statement: Even though teen suicide is one of the leading causes of deaths in teenagers, there are many ways it can be prevented. Summary of Topic: Suicide is the third leading cause of deaths in adolescents in the United States. Teensuicide is also often referred to as a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Teens so often are suicidal and attempt suicide as a call for help from others. They have no intention in dying they are just trying to cry out for help from anyone that will listen. Many reasons cause teen to attempt suicide, varying from bullying to psychological disorders. In fact, psychological disorders accounts for about 90% of teens who attempt or commit suicide. Teenagers are also at higher risk of suicide when they are under...show more content... Teen suicide is something that is endless, it will never stop but if everyone was educated on it, it could help prevent deaths. I think with people provided with statistics and further information can help avoid adolescent suicide attempts. I think most teen suicide cases could be prevent if we knew the signs to look for and the ways to stop it. I believe parents would feel safer if they knew knowledge on the issue and how to handle it. The intended audiences for this essay is parents or friends of suicidal teens. This essay is important because, as mentioned earlier, we need to be educated on suicide to end tons of tragedies. It is also important to be aware of the warning signs to help prevent. This essay is relevant because teen suicide is a war that happens daily, and will continue to happen, until we take control of the situation and do something to stop it. If family members were informed of the cause and symptoms leading up to the attempt of suicide, then there is less likely that teenagers would try and commit Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Solutions To Problems In Georgia In Georgia you will find a lake, amazing agricultural land and some pretty amazing mountains. There are many problems in the other thirteen colonies, but if you come to Georgia we can help solve some of those problems. The river provides fish for food and water to drink, while the great land can be used to grow tons of crops. Also some of the other colonies have financial problems from not paying debut. However, here we have many great crops that we can trade for money, which gives us stable money support. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Problems with Wildlife Essay Problems with Wildlife It is blatantly obvious that the level of wildlife has been decreasing amazingly over the years. Species of animals and plants are rapidly becoming endangered or even extinct. There are many factors that are making this problem a reality. Habitat destruction, hunting, and pollution are the three major factors that are destroying our wildlife. The destruction of habitat is the greatest of all threats to wildlife, whether they're rich tropical forests, mangroves, swamps, coral reefs, or your own local grassland or woods. Most wild plants and animals are so closely adapted to their own particular habitat that they become rare...show more content... This enters the shallow sea coral area from nearby rivers and kills the live corals. People have hunted animals and collected wild plants for thousands of years. In the early days of human evolution, it was necessary to survive. Today, however, hunting continues mostly as a sport, or in more sinister fashion as illegal poaching for profit. Beautiful shells and some kinds of wild plant, including cacti, are collected as well. The large whales were hunted almost to the point of no return for their meat, oil, and fat. In the 1980's most countries halted this activity and whale population now shows signs of recovery. Dolphins, smaller cousins of the whales, suffer from being snared in fishing nets and many die accidentally by drowning. Hunting has had a major impact on large mammals, especially on the open plains and savannas of Africa. Rhinoceroses, elephants, and others are easily spotted and shot. Elephants are the largest living land mammal and the only remaining representative of the order Proboscides, which during the Pleistocene period roamed every landmass except Australia and Antarctica. And they are just killed to the point where they are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Problems And Solutions Of California Essay Problem/Solution For many years California has been becoming more and more dry. Year to year there is less rainfall and snowpack, which in turn leads to less available water for residents and farmers in the state. The less water that is available means that the more that one uses, the more they are charged. This has caused many people to let grass, trees, and other features that require frequent watering die off. The accumulation of dead shrubbery around many places in California now can be seen as a fire hazard. Others have replaced the grass and trees with succulents or even concrete to reduce the amount of water that they use in an effort to reduce their water bills. California needs to put forth a greater effort to stop and find a way to fulfil their water requirements. There are a few different options and directions that California can go about doing this, for example California can regulate farmers more than they are now and build more desalination plants along the very large coastline. As far back as 1976 there have been reports that California has been experiencing signs of a drought. Apparently many people did not take notice to this at all. Many of these people were and are farmers who grow water heavy crops such as almonds. Which take "approximately 1.1 gallons of water for one almond. Which can be multiplied by a bag of almonds multiplied by 6000 almond farmers in California's central valley at an estimated 600 million pounds of almonds per year". That is an Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Solution Essay On Water Pollution Pollution Have you ever imagine live in a world where you can go out and breath fresh air? Where can you drink water or swim in the ocean with no worries of getting any disease? That could be possible if we help our planet and if we reduce the levels of water, air, land, and light pollution. Why should we care? Now a days, pollution is getting bigger and bigger every day, and we should take care immediately due we do not have other planet where to live. If we do not do anything, no one will do it. If we destroy our planet, we are destroying ourselves, and we have to remember that most of our problems are the reflection of our actions. If we compare a way of life that helps the planet in which we live in contrast to the chaotic reality that we inhabit. To begin with, water pollution is one of the biggest pollution that we are facing and "it is caused by many factors including (but certainly not limited to): uncontrolled constructions sites, leaking sewer lines, storm water runoff, accidental spills and leaks, improper discharge of wastes, mining activities, foundries, animal waste, and others." (Water Pollution Solutions | 7 Simple Solutions) But we can try to fic this with one of these solutions. For example, create a group in your community in order to consciousness in your community, also look for more information and try to persuade others, and something that all of us can do in our own houses is close the tap when we finish to use the water. When there is a group in a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Problems of education connect to funding, teacher quality and the status of the teaching profession, student academic performance and standardized testing, racial imbalances, and equal educational opportunity. The lack of parental involvement seems to be a problem for education also. Parental involvement in their child's education makes them feel good about themselves. They usually have higher grades; higher test scores on standardized tests, classroom assessments and at arrive at school all the time. It is important to have quality teachers that care about the students and that encourage parents on how important it is to be involved with their child's education. The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) law took effect in 2002; it has had a broad ...show more content... Schools, districts, states, and the federal government should be financially accountable to the public, with policymakers accountable to provide the resources needed to produce positive results. Policies should assist and encourage parents, families, and communities to be actively involved and engaged in their public schools. These policies should require professional development programs for all educators to include the skills and knowledge needed for effective parental and community communication and engagement strategies. And finally they should provide incentives or require employers to grant a reasonable amount of leave for parents to participate in their children's school activities. A qualified, caring, diverse, and stable workforce in our schools requires a pool of well prepared, highly skilled candidates for all vacancies, quality induction for new teachers with mentoring services from trained veteran teachers, opportunities for continual improvement and growth for all employees, working conditions in which they can be successful, and professional compensation and benefits. School funding systems must provide adequate, equitable and sustainable funding. Making taxes fair and eliminating inefficient and ineffective business subsidies are essential prerequisites to achieving adequacy, equity, and stability in school funding. • 8. Dental Problems Topic– Dental problems and how to prevent them Specific Purpose: To inform the class about the 3 most common dental problems and how they can be prevented Thesis Statement: I am going to tell you about the 3 most common dental problems which are gum disease, bad breath, and mouth ulcers and also ways to prevent them. Introduction: Don't you wish we could get away with eating anything and not worry about problems occurring in the mouth like cavities which then lead to getting fillings, your gums turning black from smoking or doing tobacco and so on? I wish that was possible. Dental problems can happen to anyone, anytime. They can be environmental and genetic. People can get them by not taking care of their mouth or also if someone in...show more content... Scaling means scraping off tartar from above and below the gum line. Root planning gets rid of rough spots on the teeth where germs gather and helps remove as much as bacteria as possible. G.Medications can also be another way to cure it which includes the scaling and root planning surgically depending on how bad the disease is. II.Another common dental problem one can get is bad breath. A.Bad breath is the most common in mostly teenagers and early adulthood. It can be a sign of leading to a bigger dental problem or some other kind of sickness in the body. B.Bad breath may be caused by several things. 1.The kind of food you eat like onions and garlic can cause real bad breath because foods are digested and absorbed into your bloodstream, they are eventually carried to your lungs and given off in your breath until food has passed down completely throughout the body. 2.Another way you can get bad breath is by not cleaning your tongue. After eating, all the food is absorbed in your teeth, gums , and on the tongue which leads to very bad breath because bacteria is growing beneath all the particles. 3.Bad breath can be a step closer to another problem in the mouth like minor gum disease, or dry mouth. Saliva is necessary to moisten and cleanse the mouth by neutralizing acids produced by plaque. Medications are the main side effects that can cause dry Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Essay on Wildfires A wildfire is any instance of uncontrolled burning in grasslands, brush, or woodlands. Wildfires destroy property and valuable natural resources, and may threaten the lives of people and animals. Wildfires can occur at any time of the year, but usually occur during hot, dry weather. Wildfires are usually signaled by dense smoke which may fill the air for miles around. The National Weather Service, U.S. Forest Service, and State forestry agencies combine to give wildfire probability forecasts. Local radio and television stations broadcast information and warnings on local fire conditions. Wildfires pose an increasing threat to the residential United States. In 1987, 53,000 fires consumed more than two million acres. By October 1988, almost...show more content... On the actual day of the fire, the fire planners will again check such conditions as wind and moisture content in the vegetation. The wind direction will determine where the fire is started. Fire crews start the burn with a device called a drip torch. A drip torch is a can of fuel with a flame–carrying wick at the end. When the crewmember tilts the wick toward the ground, a flame streams out and ignites the vegetation. Most of the effort that goes into a prescribed fire is making sure that it is contained in the boundaries set for the fire. Firefighters and fire suppression equipment are near the site if the fire grows out of control (www.nps.gov/wica/fir–why.html, pgs. 1–3). While not all the effects of prescribed burns are known some are very evident. The first of these common effects is that vegetation and fallen dead material are burned creating an open forest floor. This eliminates any fuel that could contribute to a high intensity fire in the future. When the fire burns the organic material in the forest, nutrient rich ash is left behind. When the first rain comes, the nutrients in the ash dissolve into the soil for the new plants to use. This process is called nutrient recycling. These nutrients left in the soil are a good source of food for the young plants that will begin to grow back. Another outcome of prescribed fire is that new growth begins immediately after the fires have been extinguished. Within Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Violence In Media And Media Violence With technology becoming more advanced every year the public is becoming increasingly concerned with the link between the violence in media and actual violence between humans. However, this topic has not only gained interest by the public but researchers are intrigued by the connection as well. One of the subdivisions associated with media is, gaming culture. Yet, its association with developingviolence among the youth and young adults has not been touched upon by many researchers. Although, the few who have looked into the violence within the realm of gaming have found many connections involving variables such as age, race, ethnicity, gender, personality, and acts of violence. In the study, Exposure to Media Violence and Other Correlates of Aggressive Behavior in Preschool Children; researchers, Perez and Daly, looked into whether violence in media such as television and video games affected how children behaved or how they got along with others during play time. In order to conduct this research they selected seven preschools. After the parents who wished to have their child participate gave consent there was officially a sample size of 70 children (32 female, 38 male). Then to create a control the researchers survey and rated the classroom environment, the teachers, the parents, and the children's ability to be self–regulatory. 'Energy Story And Conducting Solutions' In the articles "Energy Story" and "Conducting Solutions", as well as the video, "Hands–On Science with Squishy Circuits", they all have similar purposes. The first article's purpose was to teach people how electricity and energy works. The second article informs people about how different solutions can create electric currents. In addition, the video's purpose was to persuade people to do hands on science with their children while teaching them how Play–Doh is a circuit. They all have different purposes, but they all have the same topic for their purposes, electricity. In paragraph eleven of "Energy Story" it explains how electrons can work. The author states "Electrons can be made to move from one atom to another." and continues to "When...show more content... In paragraph two, it states "Pure water contains very few ions, so it does not conduct electricity well. When table salt is dissolved in water, the solution conducts very well, because the solutions contain ions.". In paragraph four, it explains how laundry ammonia can conduct electricity. It states "When ammonia dissolves in water, it reacts with the water and forms a few ions.". In conclusion, paragraph five explains more about how ammonia can cause electricity when it is put into a solution with vinegar. In the video, "Hands–On Science with Squishy Circuits", Anne Marie Thomas does a TED talk about Play–Doh circuits. She explains how she teaches her daughter about electricity by making homemade Play–Doh. At 1:42, she demonstrates with an LED light, Play–Doh that contains salt, Play–Doh that contains sugar, and batteries. She splits the salty Play–Doh in two and connects them with the batteries. To conclude, she sticks the LED light in both of the "squishy circuits" and it turns on. From reading and watching the articles and video, I learned a lot about electricity. Their purposes were different but still had a connection which helped me learn more and more about my topic. Since they were all diverse within the same topic, I got to learn not just about how electricity works, but how different solutions can form energy and how different, everyday things can make Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Problem and Solution of Global Warming Global warming is the observed increase in the average temperature of the Earth's atmosphere and oceans. Higher temperatures threaten dangerous consequences: drought, disease, floods, and lost ecosystems. From sweltering heat to rising seas, global warming's effects have already begun. Many people still believe that since the earth is so big, human beings cannot possibly have any major impact on the way the planet operates. The truth is we have grown so numerous and our technologies have become so powerful that we are now capable of having a significant influence on many parts of the earth's environment (Gore 22). Without the help of the human race, and the listening ears of our politicians, we are going to leave this extreme crisis to the...show more content... Another solution, and possibly the first step for the world to work together to reduce global warming, is to put energy efficient, renewable energy, and vehicle technology solutions in place at a federal level. California has been the only state to step up to the plate. In August 2006, the California state legislature passed the landmark Global Warming Solutions Act which mandates that the state'sgreenhouse gas emissions be rolled back to 1990 levels by 2020 (The Vote Heard around the World 1). This first –in–the–nation law puts a cap on gas emissions from power plants, refineries, and manufacturing plants. Since the United States currently produces 70 percent of its electricity from fossil fuels and only two percent from renewable resources, it is certain that by converting into more efficient and renewable energy it would significantly reduce our emissions of heat–trapping gases. Solutions for global warming include big changes, but they also include little things people can do everyday. My proposal is to simply get the word out to everyone. Teaching children in school and people at home how to implement steps on helping solve global warming is very important in today's world. One thing everyone can do is simply reduce emissions from your home energy use by using energy–efficient lighting and appliances, insulating your house, conserving hot water, and turning off lights and computers when you're finished with them. • 13. Self Driving Cars Essay Self–driving cars are beneficial because they're going to improve the safety and reduce traffic in our society. According to Urmson, Chris and Whittaker, "each year more than 1.2 million people die in traffic accidents" (66) with this information we can we see there is a need for change. Vehicle crashes are one of the main reasons many people die in their first half of life than any other cause. There are many different benefits that these self–driving vehicles will offer that will cause change and prosperity in safe traveling and traffic flow. Driving will become safer with fewer mistakes made, reduce in traffic jams, and also these computer–operated automobiles will eliminate incidents involving alcohol and fatigue. Although...show more content... Knowing the difference between what's supposed to happen and what is happening can save your life. Things that you can take into consideration to help you anticipate the action of other drivers is for one watch other drivers and not just their cars. Also watch for turn signals but do not trust them, always take a second to absurd what is going on before making a sudden action. Last but not least always keep a safe distance just in case to be safe. The solution to reduce in traffic jams is self–driving cars. These cars can follow more closely packed at higher speeds and as a result this saves time and reduces the need for more roads to be built. This is due to the intercar communication between self–driving cars that allow intelligent convoying. According to Will Knight's "A simple wireless technology promises to make driving much safer" the technology that allows these cars to communicate is called car–to–car or vehicle–to–vehicle communication. This intercar communication lets cars broadcast their position, speed, steering–wheel position, brake status, and other data to other vehicles within a few hundred meters. The information given to the other cars can be used to build a detailed picture of what's going on around them, uncovering trouble that even the best driver, or the best sensor system could miss or fail to anticipate. Communication between the cars would make traveling smoother they Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Teen Suicide: A Growing Problem Essay 'Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.'; Teen suicide as an extremely complex tragedy, that unfortunately happens all the time throughout the United States. There are friends, parents, and peers that are facing the misfortune of losing a young, close, loved one to suicide. Most people don't realize that adolescent suicide is common. They don't want to believe how often this occurs in the secure environment found in the small towns of America, as well as in its largest cities. Put his/her affairs in order—for example, give away favorite possessions, clean his/her room, throw away important belongings, etc. ? Become suddenly cheerful after a period of depression. There are many misconceptions about suicide. These are also known as myths of suicide. For some reason people tend to think that adolescents who talk about suicide are not serious about doing it. This is untrue, it has been proven that almost all suicidal teens have at one point verbally or nonverbally, told someone about their considering suicide. This leads to another myth, that suicide happens without warning. For the same reason as the myth, adolescents aren't serious about it, suicide usually occurs with at least one warning. Some other myths are once an adolescent is suicidal, he /she must always and forever be considered suicidal (adolescent who once considered suicide) ; if an adolescent attempts suicide and survives, he/she will not make and additional attempt (adolescent who actually made the attempt); Adolescents who commit suicide always leave notes (only a small percentage actually leave notes); Most adolescent suicides Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Problem/Solution Essay This Has To Stop! Each year in America, at least 400,000 Americans lose their lives to cigarettes. This is at least one out of every five Americans. This epidemic is growing on a daily basis. Smoking can damage your body tremendously. Smoking can damage your lungs, brain, and heart. Smoking is a problem not only for human beings, but for America as a whole. Smoking pollutes the air. Cigarettes are made from 4,000 different chemical compounds and 400 toxic substances. Smoking is also bad for America because of "second–hand smoke". We roam around in a universe polluted by smoke. This is why smoking cigarettes is a problem. Smokers need to realize that they are not only damaging themselves, but the others around them as ...show more content... The benefits of quitting smoking are great. When you quit you will realize that your general health improves. How can we help people stop smoking? Many solutions could be put into effect. The price for cigarettes should be more expensive and nicotine patches, medicines, chewing gum, and electronic cigarettes should be less expensive. Many countries are controlling smoking by banning smoking in bars, restaurants, hotels, and many other places. America should take banning smoking more serious. Anti–smoking laws can also be used to regulate cigarette advertising by tobacco companies. In South Africa for instance, cigarette advertising is banned Most people who smoke hardly have any idea of the end result of their smoking habit. Information of the smoking must be made widely available especially to teen smokers. More smoking solutions would also include massive stop smoking campaigns via TV, radio, internet, billboards, SMS and over medium can also be effective in communicating the stop smoking message. Other methods especially to do with teens would be for parents and guardians, schools, and other authorities to spend more time with the young people to understand their behavioral patterns. This would help to quickly identify changes induced by tobacco smoking. I truly feel that these solutions could change the amount of smokers in America. Last but least, smoking needs to stop. In a problem –solution paper, the solutions should be new to the reader. To write myresearch problem–solution essay I followed three steps: researching, writing, and documenting. To start my research process I determined the problem, and then began researching for solutions. The problem I chose was registration at Normandale, and the common issue of classes filling up too fast. My thesis statement stated the problem of class registration at Normandale, and then introduced the four possible solutions; this gave the reader a brief summary of what to expect. To organize my body paragraphs, I wrote out my first topic sentence to define the problem, and then followed with four topic sentences for my four solutions. Finally, I rewrote my thesis so I could restate it in my conclusion. After organizing the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, I was ready to write my first draft. The purpose of my introduction was to interest the reader, and give them a brief background on the essay. The introductory paragraphs consisted of a hook, background information on the problem and why it is occurring, and then my thesis statement. My essay started with a direct quote I discovered when researching. I then explained the importance of the quote, and followed with my thesis. Also, I used correct MLA format when citing the direct quote in my paper. It's important to cite all sources correctly otherwise it will be penalized as plagiarism. Once my introduction was complete, I began writing the body paragraphs. The main purpose of my body paragraphs were to explain and support my thesis. • 17. Education Debt: The Problem and Solutions Essay With the ever–increasing tuition and ever–tighten federal student aid, the number of students relying on student loan to fund a college education hits a historical peak. According to a survey conducted by an independent and nonprofit organization, two–thirds of college seniors graduated with loans in 2010, and each of them carried an average of $25,250 in debt. (Reed et. al., par. 2). Through the Internet and online database I find the most recent report and statistics on education debt. Most of the online sources I have searched, including CQ Researcher, Opposing Viewpionts, government and nonprofit organizations, acknowledge that students are increasingly shouldering high levels of debt to finance college education. The difference in the sources is the use of different rhetorical appeals. Most of the authors use a combination of logos and ethos, and some use a combination of logos and pathos. It seems that they all share the same goal that they want to improve the student loan program and make college education affordable. I also found some web sources that have a divergent view. For example, "Debt Burden: Repaying Student Debt", a report written by American Council on Education, the only higher education organization that represents presidents and chancellors of all types of U.S. accredited, degree–granting institutions. This report describes the borrowing and repayment experiences of 1992/93 and 1999/2000 bachelor's degree recipients one year after graduation. The author believed that student loan debt did not have discernible impact on graduate one year later. • 18. Rough Draft Essay A "rough draft" is something someone writes with the express purpose of getting their ideas out on paper. Expectedly, more often than not, people will write multiple drafts before writing their final, in an effort to get to their best paper. I was, of course, introduced to the phenomenon that is the rough draft in middle school. Interestingly, whenever I attempted to write a rough draft, my thoughts would become muddled and slowly but surely, I was left with nothing to write. Hardly after being introduced to the rough draft than I jettisoned it; in fact, it is because of that dismissal that has prompted me to adopt a different method. My alternative method is a rather simple one: I ruminate on a particular topic with the purpose of gathering...show more content... The first step is something I like to call, The Royal Rumble of Ideas. The path in which my paper will follow as well as my thoughts and ideas are formed from the first process. The way in which it does this, is by requiring the writer to apply an abundant amount of focus on one particular area; whereas, the typical strategy, asks for the writer to just write (cue eye roll). If I am to construct a story, I must utilize this step. En passant, I might add, the crux of the former element is very much similar to the latter, as well as in the way in which it works. The commonality to which I am referring, is rumination. The simplicity of it is bemusing, especially considering it's efficiency, but I will describe that later. The way this is utilized, is by requiring the writer to mull over what they will write next. For example: When I am writing, regardless of the type of paper, I will deeply contemplate what my next sentence will be and how it will be phrased. Incidentally, in English class, I will often be seen staring into the ether, as if I am on a psychotropic drug. There is, however, a reason behind this seemingly sinister image. As I described, rumination is crucial in my writing process: In order to produce a sentence, or a paragraph for that matter, I must distill information from that contemplation.
