Reflective Reflection
Gibbs (1998) acknowledges that it is not enough just to perform a task to learn. Once something is learnt it is important to reflect upon that
learning experience otherwise the learning experience may be neglected. Correspondingly with Gibbs, this piece of writing will critically evaluate
key academic sources linked with reflective practice, these include models by Gibbs, Kolb and Schon. One of these reflective models will be used
to provide a critical analysis of my experience on the Study Skills and Employability module. Critical reflection will be included on how I felt during
the module and what I have learnt from the module as well as what I would do next time if I was to repeat the module again. Reflection/ Reflective

Reflection on action occurs after the event/experience has taken place, this way the person is able to sit down and think about what they have just
learnt or done. Reflection on action will involve assessing how successful they were in the task or how much they learnt, they then think about if they
were to change anything in the task would the outcome be any different. This can take place in the form of diaries, journals etc. An example can be a
football coach who has just delivered a 90–minute session to an under 11 age group. They complete the session then sit down read through their plan
and then begin to reflect on what happened and what they could change next time and what the result might be from that change. However, when the
coach delivers the session there may be things they see which they could change at that exact moment, but are afraid to because they want to follow the
plan and reflect after the session. Therefore, there is reflection in action, this involves reflecting whilst the experience is occurring, having to make
decisions to adjust the outcome of the event as it is happening. (Schon, 1991). This can occur when a lecturer is delivering information to their students
and has a task planned next. They can see that the students are not ready for that task and therefore reflects in action and changes what they had
planned for

Reflective Essay On Teamwork
Nowadays, teamwork is an incredibly important part of an organization. As defined in "Fundamental of management", work teams are "groups whose
members work intensely on specific, common goals using there positive synergy, individual and mutual accountability, and complementary skills"
(Robbins, DeCenzo and Coulter, 2015, p.311). To simply understand, every time when we share a specific job with other people, we participate in a
work team. For myself, working in a team bring about many interesting experiences of the way we interact with other members and deal with work to
achieve the last target. Therefore, the chance to cooperate with three other students in my class during the group presentation assignment in last
fortnight has left me numerous significant lessons....show more content...
However, for each time, I always had a new feeling, a new experience because of different colleagues, different styles of work and, especially, different
roles of mine in my team. For this cooperation, I worked with three completely strange people who I had never met before. They were Ngoc, a boy
with the same age as me, Thao, a girl who was one–year older than me, and Quang, the oldest one in my group who was four–year older than me. This
was the first time I had been a leader of the team where I was the youngest person, which really put me under pressure and was one of my most
challenges of connecting team members together. It required me to always move forward and improve my personal qualities more as a leader which
were mentioned in Robbins text book: drive, desire to lead, honesty and integrity, self–confidence, intelligence, job –relevant knowledge and
extraversion (P.Robbins, 2015, p.361). Sometimes, I felt myself so incompetent when I got troubles in arranging works as well as control the
effectiveness and efficiency. However, with the help of my coworkers, I finally overcome those

During this class, the challenge of writing and reading many essays have definitely improve my writing. There are so many details that need to be
considered when crafting a paper. The grammar, neatness, relevance of the content, and the paper formatting are key aspects of the quality of writing.
In the essay it was fairly simple to describe my surroundings, the sound, smell and general structure. When I started thinking of all the things I
remembered from my experience in the ocean, I was able to make a gigantic list of details that I wanted to include in my essay, and I had to do
some editing in order to fit the project guidelines. I wanted to convey how powerful and moving that experience was for me. I also wanted it to have a

Reflective Essay: Dignity and Respect
Reflective essay: Dignity and respect10053603 Introduction The Purpose of this essay is to reflect upon an experience which relates to the chosen
topic of dignity and respect, this was highlighted in my self–assessment (please see appendix) Acknowledging a persons' dignity can contribute to their
sense of good health, well–being and independence. Dignity is an essential element of high quality care and involves aspects such as respect, privacy,
autonomy and self–worth (The Welsh Assembly, 2007) I have decided to use the Gibbs (1998) Reflective cycle for this essay, this framework guides

Evaluation A good point that arose from the situation was that Mrs Clarke did not injure herself and that her severe reduced mobility was now
recognised and respected due to this incident. Mrs Clarke seemed to recover quickly from the incident. Although she was initially distressed this
was short lived. There were several bad points that should be acknowledged. Firstly, I think it would have been beneficial if a second opinion from
a qualified member of staff was sought, this possibly would have prevented the situation from occurring. Secondly, Mrs Clarkes' wishes were not
respected, she was in a very vulnerable position and this I felt contributed to her being persuaded to mobilise against her will and better judgement.
Mrs Clarke also ended up in a very awkward and exposed position on the floor and the way in which she was manually handled meant her dignity had
been considerably compromised. Finally, Mrs Clarke was manually lifted back onto the bed which again potentially put her and the staff involved at
further risk of injury. In addition to this, to my knowledge the incident was not reported. Analysis Although it had been mentioned in handover that Mrs
Clarke was confused both Catherine and I were unaware of the reason for this. There are many causes for confusion in older people including, certain
medications, environmental change, illnesses and diseases. Confusion

worker to become complacent. It should be given with information about how the worker can build on their successes.

Reflective Writing:
Facing My Challenges
As I came to English 45, I thought it was going to be a tough class, because it's an accelerated class. An accelerated class tends to be a fast–past class
that covers 2 classes in one. When I got to English 45 I assumed that it wouldn't be tough, although the results were opposites, English 45 gave me
many challenged to face throughout the whole semester. Throughout this semester English 45 has thought me many different techniques to improve
my English and writing. Ever since the first day, I felt confident about everything, although my confidence wasn't always right because I learned that
the grading and essay structure is different. When I got back the first essay that we did, I saw the challenges that I would be facing throughout the
semester, because of each teacher/professor grades differently.
Ater learning what a professor expects on a paper, still left me with doubts about writing a perfect paper, because writing an essay can be written is
many different ways. One challenged that occurred to me throughout the semester, was not being able to write at least a four–page essay. As well as not
knowing the structure, or how a paper is formatted, was also a challenge to me because that was one of the main things a professor looks at in college.
The main challenge that I faced throughout the whole semester was grammar and checking is the whole essay is well written. Grammar was one of the
main issued that I faced through this

Essay On Annotated Bibliographies
When first brainstorming what topic I was going to pick for each annotated bibliography, it took me a while before I settled on a topic for each
essay. While reflecting on my writing process, I came to the conclusion that more time would have definitely benefited my argument for each of
these annotated bibliographies. If I had more time on each of these essays, I would have looked in more databases to try and find a wider variety of
sources to argue each point. Since I can not search across all the databases at once, I picked out what looked to be the best database for each topic.
For example, my public argument is on abortion, so I went straight to the sociology database. My other argument was about blockchain technology, so I
went do my...show more content...
While doing this, I found out that some of the sources were not what I thought they were going to be. For example, one of the sources for my public
argument seemed like it was against abortion, but once I got to the end, I found out that the author was actually for abortion. I had this problem while
writing both of my essays, so I had to go back to the databases to find new sources. I think the most important change I made during the writing
process was changing a few of my sources to ones that would better validate the arguments in each annotated bibliography. After searching within the
database for a while, I was able to find other articles that gave me a wider range of information and statistics to choose from. If I would have not
taken the time to go back and find sources that would better fit my argument, I would have needed to do it later in the writing process of each essay.
Because of this, I went back for both of my annotated bibliographies and replaced some of the sources that I thought were good at first, but after
reading more into them I found that they did not provide me with the evidence I

Reflection : What I Have Learned In The Class
Introduction
What I have learned in this class? It is my first question that I have asked myself. It is my first experience to have a blended class just like FYS
001 at West Coast University. I have never taken the blended course, so I have learned a few interested things with the blended class. First at all, I
have a chance to meet my professor and my classmates in person on the first day of the class. It is an advantage to know whom I am talking to
when I go to the class discussion board. Therefore, I have a feeling just like taking on ground class. The different option is that the class only meets
twice per term. I like the course over all. There are many topics which have been discussed on class discussion board and a lot of related learning
reading assignments. Here, I will briefly go over a few new materials which I have learned so far from the course.
What topics in this course do affect you the most? To answer the question, I am interested in making decision topic. As an individual has to make
decisions daily, the person needs to make a better decision among different options. Making decision can be done by followed some factors and basic
process. First, the individual must identify the problem to analyze the cause. Next, the person needs to search for the reliable information and looks for
the alternative ways. Then, the individual will make the decision and evaluation the outcome (Fred C, 2010). There are many factors which have been
involved in the process.

Reflective Essay Template
My classmates provided me with many great recommendations in order to improve my resume. To be honest, I felt like my resume was poorly
constructed because it was the first time that I created one in my life. I knew that I had a lot to learn, and so I was open to hearing any criticism
from my peers. They provided me with a lot of recommendations, most of which I agreed with. One of my peers recommended that I need to look
up some of the resume templates online in order to find one that looks more professional. I had provided my information on a sheet of paper, but it
didn't really look like a professional resume. So I decided to search on Google for resume templates, and found a great one that I can use. The
template proved to be very great in that it showed me the ways that I am able to improve my resume. I found that there are certain categories I can use,
and I was able to input my information into the template, similar to me filling out a form. This made it much more convenient to create a resume rather
than trying to start one from scratch. Another peer also recommended that I include my work experience, which was...show more content...
This objective is important because it emphasizes who I am as an individual so that the employer will understand my chief aim. My peer
recommended that I make myself seem like an excellent candidate in order to be selected for the job. I somewhat disagree with this perspective
because I feel like it is also important to be honest. It would be wrong to say that I am great at many things in such a way that the employer would
have high expectations of me. This would create a situation in which the employer will be disappointed after realizing that I am not as great as I
made myself appear on my resume. Therefore, it is important to be honest and realistic in the resume to see whether I will be a perfect

I have always been a thinker, however throughout my coursework; I have mainly focused on sharpening my critical analysis skills as psychology
student. It is true that I challenged myself to get into deeper meaning of each of the course as possible in order to understand the meaning and practice
it well. It is often believed that students need to expect that they must graduate with the skills and knowledge necessary for them to get engage in their
professional career (Hughes & Youngson, 2009). I took this statement seriously and tried to cover all the major aspects of my learning. My module

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and
done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the
middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my
essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I
use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing,
and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not
have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it
holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the
importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate
enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

English 101 Reflective Essay
English 101 has been such an adventure. I know that sounds corny, but I just couldn't help myself. When I decided to do a short–term English class, I

existed in this short period of time from post 1 to the multi–modal project. I will list the challenges I experienced which creating the creative project,
what I learned from the beginning of class to the end, and what I need to work on in the future. This English adventure started on post 1 and 2 and
ended at the multi–modal project. When I first did post 1 and 2 ,I was excited because we were incorporating fallacies to our discussions. I
previously learned more about fallacies and ethos, pathos, and logos from a previous communications course and I appreciated the review. I found
that it was challenging to respond properly to posts created by other classmates. My initial response was always to support each and every classmate

I have learned many things throughout the course of the term like how to write an essay and how to improve on essays that I have already
written, how to locate and composite better research through the use of numerous resources found at the campus library, the internet, how to cite
research, examples, and quotations properly within the contents of my research paper as well as document it accurately according to MLA
standards. In this class I have learned to write and format an essay the correct way such as a rhetorical essay and visual analysis and lastly
compositors essay. Through the exploration of the "Subjects and Strategies" textbook, I have learned nine different methods used when writing
an effective essay and how the different writing styles affect the overall theme and tone of the essay when used properly. When I say I learned
how to use research and better sources for my essay on all my essay I had to have some type of detail to help me to complete writing the essay the
correct way for instance I did not know to write or format visual analysis essay but I learned how to and how to research things that can help me
complete my essay. I have also learned that it is always okay to ask someone else to double check your essay because it might be somethings that I
did not catch but another person does. For example, when we do our peer review when my classmate would look over my essay they would point
out run on sentences you repeated words or even somewhere that I forgot to add a period. Also, what I notice when doing the peer review is that
my classmate might think of some more ideas for me to add in my paper to make it better than what it was. Another thing I learned in this english
101 class is about Soaps tone and this actually work when doing the introduction of your essay because it helps you format it correctly and also it
helps you make sure you have the important information in your introduction paragraph so it can help you set up the rest of the body paragraphs.
Lastly, I think when reviewing with my peer review partner and my teacher talking to us that I have been able to write a stronger thesis statement and
also from looking at the worksheet that were passed out. Lastly the thing I

Reflective Essay
Introduction
People often spend at least few minutes every day before the mirror.
Why do you stand before a mirror? What do you see when you look at the mirror? 'You', right?
Technically speaking we stand before a mirror to analyze ourselves by looking at our own reflection in the mirror.
The same can be said about the reflective compositions. A reflective composition is the result of introspection into past experiences or memorable
events in our lives.
We introspect into these memorable events and reflect over them with regards the emotions and influences they have left in our lives.
In simple words a reflective essay is a piece of 'you' being presented in words.
What is Reflection?
In a reflective composition you really need to...show more content...
It analyzes and shows the reader the significance of a particular event or experience and its credibility and universal application.
Synthesis
A reflective essay expresses how do the components of your experience relate or react in the given situation, how similar experiences and interactions
introduced changes in your outlook, what have you learned from your experience etc.
Evaluation
A reflective essay should evaluate your experience. It shows your attitude towards the subject, your degree of subjectivity, how it affected you, what
you accept or reject, how the experience will help you to perceive or act differently in the future etc.
IT IS PURPOSEFUL
A reflective essay is not merely scribbling some thoughts that come up in your mind. It has a definitive purpose that you want to accomplish – to learn,
to improve, to demonstrate an insight through your essay.
IT IS FORMAL
Of course, a reflective essay is personal, reflective and based on experience and observations but at the same time the style of presentation should be
standardized. One has to use the standard format for preparing a reflective essay.
STRUCTURE OF A REFLECTIVE ESSAY
A reflective essay is a form of writing that examines and observes the individual experience. When writing a reflective essay, it is important to use
descriptive language.
Reflective essays are based upon your own experiences, so it is expected that you write about yourself, your ideas and your opinions. As a result, it is

I have had various positive experiences with writing before this class. In eighth grade, I was introduced to new writing styles including journal

evolve my writing into something more precise and insightful. Freshman year, I took the Essentials of English course. I felt very open in this course
in the sense that I was exposed to a diversity of writing genres. This allowed me to craft a sophisticated writing style throughout the school year. I

influential language centered around a specific topic. For example, the review I wrote about the iMac All–in–One was my favorite piece. I have
background in computer technology since my dad is an engineer, so this topic in particular was interesting to write about. I feel that my voice was
professional and I had an in–depth analysis with supporting facts which made this piece one of my strongest. This was a new genre for me, so I feel
that because I was passionate about this subject, my writing

Reflective Reflection

  • 1. Reflective Reflection Gibbs (1998) acknowledges that it is not enough just to perform a task to learn. Once something is learnt it is important to reflect upon that learning experience otherwise the learning experience may be neglected. Correspondingly with Gibbs, this piece of writing will critically evaluate key academic sources linked with reflective practice, these include models by Gibbs, Kolb and Schon. One of these reflective models will be used to provide a critical analysis of my experience on the Study Skills and Employability module. Critical reflection will be included on how I felt during the module and what I have learnt from the module as well as what I would do next time if I was to repeat the module again. Reflection/ Reflective practice...show more content... Reflection on action occurs after the event/experience has taken place, this way the person is able to sit down and think about what they have just learnt or done. Reflection on action will involve assessing how successful they were in the task or how much they learnt, they then think about if they were to change anything in the task would the outcome be any different. This can take place in the form of diaries, journals etc. An example can be a football coach who has just delivered a 90–minute session to an under 11 age group. They complete the session then sit down read through their plan and then begin to reflect on what happened and what they could change next time and what the result might be from that change. However, when the coach delivers the session there may be things they see which they could change at that exact moment, but are afraid to because they want to follow the plan and reflect after the session. Therefore, there is reflection in action, this involves reflecting whilst the experience is occurring, having to make decisions to adjust the outcome of the event as it is happening. (Schon, 1991). This can occur when a lecturer is delivering information to their students and has a task planned next. They can see that the students are not ready for that task and therefore reflects in action and changes what they had planned for Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Reflective Essay On Teamwork Nowadays, teamwork is an incredibly important part of an organization. As defined in "Fundamental of management", work teams are "groups whose members work intensely on specific, common goals using there positive synergy, individual and mutual accountability, and complementary skills" (Robbins, DeCenzo and Coulter, 2015, p.311). To simply understand, every time when we share a specific job with other people, we participate in a work team. For myself, working in a team bring about many interesting experiences of the way we interact with other members and deal with work to achieve the last target. Therefore, the chance to cooperate with three other students in my class during the group presentation assignment in last fortnight has left me numerous significant lessons....show more content... However, for each time, I always had a new feeling, a new experience because of different colleagues, different styles of work and, especially, different roles of mine in my team. For this cooperation, I worked with three completely strange people who I had never met before. They were Ngoc, a boy with the same age as me, Thao, a girl who was one–year older than me, and Quang, the oldest one in my group who was four–year older than me. This was the first time I had been a leader of the team where I was the youngest person, which really put me under pressure and was one of my most challenges of connecting team members together. It required me to always move forward and improve my personal qualities more as a leader which were mentioned in Robbins text book: drive, desire to lead, honesty and integrity, self–confidence, intelligence, job –relevant knowledge and extraversion (P.Robbins, 2015, p.361). Sometimes, I felt myself so incompetent when I got troubles in arranging works as well as control the effectiveness and efficiency. The grammar, neatness, relevance of the content, and the paper formatting are key aspects of the quality of writing. In the essay it was fairly simple to describe my surroundings, the sound, smell and general structure. When I started thinking of all the things I remembered from my experience in the ocean, I was able to make a gigantic list of details that I wanted to include in my essay, and I had to do some editing in order to fit the project guidelines. • 4. Reflective Essay: Dignity and Respect Reflective essay: Dignity and respect10053603 Introduction The Purpose of this essay is to reflect upon an experience which relates to the chosen topic of dignity and respect, this was highlighted in my self–assessment (please see appendix) Acknowledging a persons' dignity can contribute to their sense of good health, well–being and independence. Dignity is an essential element of high quality care and involves aspects such as respect, privacy, autonomy and self–worth (The Welsh Assembly, 2007) I have decided to use the Gibbs (1998) Reflective cycle for this essay, this framework guides you through a cycle of questions in order to provide guidance and structure when reflecting on an event or situation. Evaluation A good point that arose from the situation was that Mrs Clarke did not injure herself and that her severe reduced mobility was now recognised and respected due to this incident. Mrs Clarke seemed to recover quickly from the incident. Although she was initially distressed this was short lived. There were several bad points that should be acknowledged. Firstly, I think it would have been beneficial if a second opinion from a qualified member of staff was sought, this possibly would have prevented the situation from occurring. Secondly, Mrs Clarkes' wishes were not respected, she was in a very vulnerable position and this I felt contributed to her being persuaded to mobilise against her will and better judgement. Mrs Clarke also ended up in a very awkward and exposed position on the floor and the way in which she was manually handled meant her dignity had been considerably compromised. Finally, Mrs Clarke was manually lifted back onto the bed which again potentially put her and the staff involved at further risk of injury. In addition to this, to my knowledge the incident was not reported. Analysis Although it had been mentioned in handover that Mrs Clarke was confused both Catherine and I were unaware of the reason for this. There are many causes for confusion in older people including, certain medications, environmental change, illnesses and diseases. Confusion Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 7. Reflective Writing: Facing My Challenges As I came to English 45, I thought it was going to be a tough class, because it's an accelerated class. An accelerated class tends to be a fast–past class that covers 2 classes in one. When I got to English 45 I assumed that it wouldn't be tough, although the results were opposites, English 45 gave me many challenged to face throughout the whole semester. Throughout this semester English 45 has thought me many different techniques to improve my English and writing. Ever since the first day, I felt confident about everything, although my confidence wasn't always right because I learned that the grading and essay structure is different. When I got back the first essay that we did, I saw the challenges that I would be facing throughout the semester, because of each teacher/professor grades differently. Ater learning what a professor expects on a paper, still left me with doubts about writing a perfect paper, because writing an essay can be written is many different ways. One challenged that occurred to me throughout the semester, was not being able to write at least a four–page essay. As well as not knowing the structure, or how a paper is formatted, was also a challenge to me because that was one of the main things a professor looks at in college. The main challenge that I faced throughout the whole semester was grammar and checking is the whole essay is well written. • 8. Essay On Annotated Bibliographies When first brainstorming what topic I was going to pick for each annotated bibliography, it took me a while before I settled on a topic for each essay. While reflecting on my writing process, I came to the conclusion that more time would have definitely benefited my argument for each of these annotated bibliographies. If I had more time on each of these essays, I would have looked in more databases to try and find a wider variety of sources to argue each point. Since I can not search across all the databases at once, I picked out what looked to be the best database for each topic. For example, my public argument is on abortion, so I went straight to the sociology database. My other argument was about blockchain technology, so I went do my...show more content... While doing this, I found out that some of the sources were not what I thought they were going to be. For example, one of the sources for my public argument seemed like it was against abortion, but once I got to the end, I found out that the author was actually for abortion. I had this problem while writing both of my essays, so I had to go back to the databases to find new sources. I think the most important change I made during the writing process was changing a few of my sources to ones that would better validate the arguments in each annotated bibliography. After searching within the database for a while, I was able to find other articles that gave me a wider range of information and statistics to choose from. If I would have not taken the time to go back and find sources that would better fit my argument, I would have needed to do it later in the writing process of each essay. Because of this, I went back for both of my annotated bibliographies and replaced some of the sources that I thought were good at first, but after reading more into them I found that they did not provide me with the evidence I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Reflection : What I Have Learned In The Class Introduction What I have learned in this class? It is my first question that I have asked myself. It is my first experience to have a blended class just like FYS 001 at West Coast University. I have never taken the blended course, so I have learned a few interested things with the blended class. First at all, I have a chance to meet my professor and my classmates in person on the first day of the class. It is an advantage to know whom I am talking to when I go to the class discussion board. Therefore, I have a feeling just like taking on ground class. The different option is that the class only meets twice per term. I like the course over all. There are many topics which have been discussed on class discussion board and a lot of related learning reading assignments. Here, I will briefly go over a few new materials which I have learned so far from the course. What topics in this course do affect you the most? To answer the question, I am interested in making decision topic. As an individual has to make decisions daily, the person needs to make a better decision among different options. Making decision can be done by followed some factors and basic process. First, the individual must identify the problem to analyze the cause. Next, the person needs to search for the reliable information and looks for the alternative ways. Then, the individual will make the decision and evaluation the outcome (Fred C, 2010). There are many factors which have been involved in the process. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Reflective Essay Template My classmates provided me with many great recommendations in order to improve my resume. To be honest, I felt like my resume was poorly constructed because it was the first time that I created one in my life. I knew that I had a lot to learn, and so I was open to hearing any criticism from my peers. They provided me with a lot of recommendations, most of which I agreed with. One of my peers recommended that I need to look up some of the resume templates online in order to find one that looks more professional. I had provided my information on a sheet of paper, but it didn't really look like a professional resume. So I decided to search on Google for resume templates, and found a great one that I can use. The template proved to be very great in that it showed me the ways that I am able to improve my resume. I found that there are certain categories I can use, and I was able to input my information into the template, similar to me filling out a form. This made it much more convenient to create a resume rather than trying to start one from scratch. Another peer also recommended that I include my work experience, which was...show more content... My peer recommended that I make myself seem like an excellent candidate in order to be selected for the job. I somewhat disagree with this perspective because I feel like it is also important to be honest. It would be wrong to say that I am great at many things in such a way that the employer would have high expectations of me. This would create a situation in which the employer will be disappointed after realizing that I am not as great as I made myself appear on my resume. • 14. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. When I decided to do a short–term English class, I thought it would be fun and challenging; My expectations were correct. As I write this reflection, I look back on the topics and assignments that existed in this short period of time from post 1 to the multi–modal project. I will list the challenges I experienced which creating the creative project, what I learned from the beginning of class to the end, and what I need to work on in the future. This English adventure started on post 1 and 2 and ended at the multi–modal project. When I first did post 1 and 2 ,I was excited because we were incorporating fallacies to our discussions. I previously learned more about fallacies and ethos, pathos, and logos from a previous communications course and I appreciated the review. I found that it was challenging to respond properly to posts created by other classmates. My initial response was always to support each and every classmate by telling them that they did an awesome job. I had trouble analyzing their work without agreeing with every claim. Reflective Essay Reflection I have learned many things throughout the course of the term like how to write an essay and how to improve on essays that I have already written, how to locate and composite better research through the use of numerous resources found at the campus library, the internet, how to cite research, examples, and quotations properly within the contents of my research paper as well as document it accurately according to MLA standards. In this class I have learned to write and format an essay the correct way such as a rhetorical essay and visual analysis and lastly compositors essay. Through the exploration of the "Subjects and Strategies" textbook, I have learned nine different methods used when writing an effective essay and how the different writing styles affect the overall theme and tone of the essay when used properly. When I say I learned how to use research and better sources for my essay on all my essay I had to have some type of detail to help me to complete writing the essay the correct way for instance I did not know to write or format visual analysis essay but I learned how to and how to research things that can help me complete my essay. I have also learned that it is always okay to ask someone else to double check your essay because it might be somethings that I did not catch but another person does. For example, when we do our peer review when my classmate would look over my essay they would point out run on sentences you repeated words or even somewhere that I forgot to add a period. Also, what I notice when doing the peer review is that my classmate might think of some more ideas for me to add in my paper to make it better than what it was. Another thing I learned in this english 101 class is about Soaps tone and this actually work when doing the introduction of your essay because it helps you format it correctly and also it helps you make sure you have the important information in your introduction paragraph so it can help you set up the rest of the body paragraphs. Technically speaking we stand before a mirror to analyze ourselves by looking at our own reflection in the mirror. The same can be said about the reflective compositions. A reflective composition is the result of introspection into past experiences or memorable events in our lives.
