My grandmother has been a big influence in who I am today in regards to continuing my education and making progress towards my career goals of
becoming a degreed engineer. Her predictions date back a little over ten–years ago after I began filling the void my grandpa left ever since he passed
away. It all started as I helping my grandma out from repairs around the house to putting new pieces of furniture together. She always said that because
of my mechanical aptitude and a love for airplanes, she always believed that someday I would be an engineer. I always look forward to receiving these
service calls from my grandma as a way of paying her back for the years of positive self–concept she has given me in building a stellar resume. Just
this past Tuesday, I stopped by her apartment to assemble a new trash/recycling cart. As I sat there on her living room floor surrounded by parts and
redlining the instructions, she started our conversation off by reminding me of how my analytical and detail–oriented skills are of what an engineer
would be. I recognize her contribution to my positive self–esteem, which depends heavily on experiences and interactions with people who we feel

My first interview was with, Jennifer she is a married 29 year old, with one child. They have been married for five years. The relationship she is in
seems to fall right into place with the five stages of interpersonal relationships that are in the book: Contact, involvement, intimacy, deterioration, and

They had a child and he is the third party that was being used to replace the attention and affection that she was used to getting from her husband. The
turning point came from and outside source that made the two of them sit down and face some facts about their relationship. The things that were
making her husband uncomfortable from the beginning were now at the forefront of their discussions. It seems that trying to avoid the problem was
causing many more problems in their relationship, now that the problem is out in the open and they have discussed it, the relationship is repaired.
Once they realized the problem and were able to discuss and it in a productive manner everything just kind of worked itself out. They give each other
a lot more affirmations now, with positive feedback, a little humor and a lot less sarcasm they have rediscovered each other and enjoy a much higher
level of intimacy than ever before.
I think it was a very honest interview the answers she gave were very detailed and open. When looking at it from the standpoint of the text and our
notes it all makes a little more sense and relationships all seem so clear cut and easy.
The second interview about a relationship was with Tina who has been in a relationship for about eight months. I can recognize the first four stages in
a relationship but not the repair or dissolution. The relationship goes on despite it just being in limbo from my

I had issues with being intimate, especially PDA because I had never had a boyfriend, let alone held a boy's hand in public. He is the exact
opposite: loves to give and receive hugs, will hold his (girl) best friend's hand in public, gives people kisses on the cheek, and the list goes on. My
discomfort with intimacy and his unwillingness to understand that proved very problematic and caused a lot of strain on our relationship.
According to an article by Carolyn Bernie (2010), "...the presence of intimacy (but not sexual intimacy) was associated with greater perceived
relationship quality..."(Vol. 71, pg 45). Now that I am more comfortable with being intimate, not necessarily sexually intimate, but doing things
like holding hands, and kissing, and more, I realize how important it can be to a relationship, especially to someone who is a naturally intimate
person. However, I did not realize this until long after so back and forth the arguing went until we reached the breaking point and I decided to end
it. Our fight only lasted a few weeks though, as both of us broke down saying we missed each other, and ended up dating again a month later. After
more arguing, a jealous girl lying about him cheating on me, and the buildup of freshman year stress, we broke up again a few weeks before summer.

removing yourself from the emotion and allowing yourself to take a look at the whole picture without becoming overwhelmed and without responding

Interpersonal Relationship : A Important Role
Interpersonal relationship plays a very important role. Exchanging words and information with one another will help better a relationship. Having a
whole lot of buildup can result in constant arguments, not letting one another know if there's a problem or letting them know how they feel about a
certain thing. That's where the trust and honesty start to deteriorate, and when communication goes wrong. Listening to one another and letting each
other know how they feel will prevent that from deteriorating, and that's when trust and honesty start to come back up. If there's a continuation there's
no way of the relationship growing. Trust and honesty must be mutual with each other to sustain the relationship. When the relationship starts to
deteriorate there are clear signs of when it does. One will get bored with the other, start drifting away, dissatisfied, not happy, etc. You will notice all
the common signs, basically how things use to be are not in action anymore. Sometimes you can or cannot save a relationship, depending on both if
they are willing to work it out and focus on the main concern. As in the relationship it cannot just go one way it must go both, there must be two
people involved not just one, if it's only going one way the feeling isn't mutual and there's not much you can do about it if the other person isn't willing
to work on the relationship. That situation leads to ending the relationship. Just remember it take two to make a relationship work. It's not
