Personal Narrative- Life as a Journey Essay
Personal Narrative– Life as a Journey
The journey of life follows a predetermined pattern; we evolve from needing influence and guidance to finally reaching that point where our lives are
up to us. I consider myself very lucky up to this point in my journey. Some people become sidetracked and wind up on a far different course than
initially planned, but the detours I made have only assisted in embellishing the individual instead of devouring it.
According to Freud a person's most important period to grow personality ranges from birth to six years. In that span my biggest influences came from
my family. When I think of that time before kindergarten, the single most important person to my development was my grandmother Carmen. She

I hadn't shown up to bowling that morning so he called my house then came to the hospital. Nobody made him come to see me so quickly but he
did. I will never forget the look in his face as he stared down at me. Hopefully every young person can look at two loving parents for guidance and help.
I know how fortunate it is that I live with both of my natural parents, and that they both want the best for me. My parents embedded the values I
cherish today into my spirit: the difference between right and wrong, the correct way to deal with anger, the importance of dedication and hard work
in life. Those seem like cliques yet society refuses to hold those basic principles sacred anymore. I consider it an honor and privilege to have parents
with common sense and self–worth.
Other things have also affected the path I continue on today. Music certainly opened doors and unfounded emotions. Playing the saxophone,
conducting, and even composing allowed this aestheticism to flow out from the depths of my being. Without becoming an artist I certainly would not
understand my potential or the self–discipline reaching a particular goal entails. Listening to poetry and music has helped to forge the Rick of today.
The sonnets of William Shakespeare and symphonies of Beethoven express desires and feelings that I have yet to even discover. Without those outlets
to describe the indescribable, I would probably be a more isolated and confused person than I am today.
Now that I have

Personal Development Essay
Many people work very hard in their life but they do not seem to be able to achieve something worthwhile (Personal Goal Setting, 2013). Successful
people on the other hand, know what they want and create plans to help them achieve these goals. They will establish a step by step plan, and will
continue to follow that plan until their goal is achieved. These people tend to be proactive rather than be reactive. Personal planning is really important
because it helps you not only to achieve your goals but to tell you how you can achieve them. Without a personal plan, it will be hard to attain any
objectives you want to complete. Whether it is a short–term goal or a long–term goal, there must be a strategy on how to reach it. Having goals at

Or you may want to have a positive monthly cash flow of $500 dollars to be put in the savings account, so then you will need to plan on how you
should lower your expenses to reach the monthly cash flow you want.
Goal setting is therefore really important in our everyday personal life. However in my case, I have difficulty managing my time for schoolwork and
personal finances.
For schoolwork, I always finish my schoolwork in the last minute or study right before quizzes or tests. A reason for this may be due to I never
planned a schedule for how and when will I study for a test or for a project. I usually forget about having a test or is just lazy to start studying for it.
This is why when I start studying the night before the test or exam, I have a hard time trying to figure what should I study first and what I should
study last. Then, a lot of time is wasted on deciding how I should start studying. I usually tend to wait for things such as exams and schoolwork to
appear before addressing them.
In order to be better at personal planning and become more successful, a specific strategy must be implemented relating to goal–setting and time
management. Studying for exams require a lot of time and hard work to achieve good grades. The first task to do if you want to be successful at
school is to set a goal about getting good grades. Without this goal,

Many students have had their own personal journeys into college. People experienced inspirations on their journey, whether it`s from a family
member, mentor, educator or a personal event that occurred in their lives. In my journey into college I`ve been encouraged by many experiences in
my life that has brought me to where I'm today. Various people have been a big part of my journey, giving me the encouragement I needed when I
wanted to throw in the towel. For example, my mother, my educator Ms. Tynes and even my friends spoke life into when I thought school wasn't meant
for me. My first steps while starting my journey to college started when my mother had a serious discussion with me about my behavior in school. In

Michael M. Krop Senior High I began to realize how much commitment had to be put into graduating high school. I felt that studying, homework,
assessments, etc. was too much to bare. Once I reached my sophomore year in high school I was contemplating of dropping out of high school.
Not knowing how much potential I had to become a scholar student. I met one of the kindest hearted teacher Ms. Tynes. After being my teacher
for two semesters she surprisingly saw potential in me even though I did not care about school or her class at all. She called my mother one day
and told her, "I would like to take your son out to lunch and have a talk with him." My mother gave her permission to do so, and after class she
took me to Chili's and I began to see how cool she was as a person. After we were done eating, she began to ask me about my attitude towards school
and why was it so negative. At that moment, I felt like leaving the restaurant but I didn't want to make today a waste for her. After telling her that I
felt that school was too much for me she asked me, "What do you want to be when you grow up Brandon ." I told her I wanted to become a funeral
director. She then told me, "Well if you want to become a funeral director, you have to be willing to work your butt off and show that you really want
to achieve this goal, and make it into a reality." After hearing this, from then on, every time I saw Ms. Tynes I only felt more motivated to work hard and

My Life My Journey Essay
As a very small child I don't remember too much, but the things that I do remember were seen through a child's eyes that has made me the person that
I am today and I will always have those memory's with me until my last breath on this earth. In this essay I intend to show how my childhood and
adult life to this point has influenced my life, my journey. By utilizing the adult development theories from this class I also intend on showing how
they relate to my Life experiences and where I am today as an Adult student.
Its funny how as a child you look at things. As time passes, those same child memories become life experiences as an adult. It is stated that

I lost my little brother in 1982 at age 22 in an accident at my parent's home. Robbie was taking down a C.B. antenna and it struck a high power line
that ran into the local General Motors plant. Robbie was killed instantly. As Erickson's stated in his psychosocial development theory, "which
refers to the development within the social environment in which a person lives, primarily focusing on relationships with other people"
(Simanowitz & Pearce. 2003). This had brought back memories of how my relationship was when we were little. I was always kind of upset with
Robbie because he was one of those kids that had that natural athletic ability. Robbie could run faster and throw better, do everything better when
it came to sports, but the real reason I was mad at Robbie most of my childhood life was because every time something went wrong, I always got
the blame and in trouble. Mom would say "You're older you should have known better" Yes she was right most of the time I did know better. I was
the middle child and I was always the one that got into trouble even though Robbie might have done it first. I had a good childhood for the most part, I
can't remember not doing without the things that I really needed as a child. Things like clothes, food, shelter and love from a family. I recall having my

My Personal Journey With My Group
When this course started, I didn't know what to expect. Quickly did I learn that it was more than just about a single individual and his or her ideas
and behaviours. As the course progressed, I learned that it was very important to understand how small groups work. Reflecting upon my personal
journey with my group, I have learnt that working in small groups requires commitment, synergy, communication, listening, conflict resolution and
decision making and problem solving. This brings me upon my personal journey with my small group and how I have learned to work in such an
environment. Our team comprised of four members; Emily, Cileena, Chelsea and I. We were all delegated with an individual role each term and I
was designated team leader for the first term for our group. I felt at the time that this role did not suit me as I am the type of person who is more
on the shy side. In addition, the course had just begun so I was relatively unsure of how the course was handled which also affected my ability to
serve as the team leader to the best of my capabilities. During the first term, our team responsibility was the evaluation team. We created a well
planned and carefully executed evaluation rubric to assess each group's performance. The start of this term was when the phases of group development
initiated. The first stage of any group is forming (Harris and Sherblom, 2010, p. 58). At this time, we were all still getting to know each other and were

English Speech– Journeys
"To travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive." In other words a journey and the experiences you have are better than the actual destination. The
novel "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain and the poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost have taught me that journeys may
involves barriers and hardships, they can lead to significant personal change and more importantly journeys facilitate reflection about how you see
yourself, others and the world. Journeys are very important in personal change and growth. They can also help us in comparing and contrasting new
and old experiences.

In addition, "The Road Not Taken" also shows us how journeys allow for our reflection on many things. In the poem the traveller experiences an
obstacle or fork in the road. This allows the traveller to take in his surroundings whether that be the path ahead or the people around him. This is
shown when he states 'two roads diverged in a yellow wood'. The traveller has two options and to make a decision he has to really explore both of
them. Robert Frost uses this poem to express his belief in not always following the crowd and being an individual. Robert Frost uses conversational
language to create a sense of communication between the traveller and the reader and to enlighten the reflection that the traveller has made. After
comparing both paths and seeing every option his reflection about his journey changes. The traveller decides to go with the path less travelled. He
decides to be different.
Journeys can lead to significant personal change. The experiences you have on a journey can shape and change your perception of yourself and the
people around you. In 'The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn' this is shown when Huck's beliefs change and he becomes more mature. Huck and Jim's
relationship also develops throughout the journey. Huck's perception of Jim at the beginning of the journey is very different compared to the end. At
the start Huck doesn't take Jim very seriously and has no compassion or respect for him. The influences of society have taught

My Journey On My Spiritual Journey Essay
As I reflect back on my spiritual journey, I remember times of questioning God, praying in times of need, and asking why certain things happen the
way they do. My journey has brought me through rough patches of my life and times of life learning lessons. Looking back at the past and up until
now, I was not the one to attend church every Sunday and pray before every meal. I questioned some of the ways my church wanted us to learn about
God. I even questioned God about certain events in life and why they happened. I look back on this as a way to show me how learning from God and
about him is not always done in a church. As I make my way through nursing school, I have also learned that many individuals turn to their
spirituality, find their faith, or pray that their belief will bring them comfort. My spiritual journey has taught me lessons of each these through
good and bad times. My spiritual journey was not perfect and I am still learning from it. This journey has taken me through good times in my life
and some really rough times in my life. The bad times never stopped me from changing my faith in God or staying mad at him. I have always
learned in church, Sunday school, and church camps that God has a plan for everyone. Those plans will not be perfect and will not be easy. These
plans will teach me about life and who I am becoming today. At the beginning of this journey, I had no clue about my faith in God. At this time in my
life, I was around the age of five and was

A Journey of Personal Growth
Becoming a college student has always seemed so far away; an eternity would pass before I grew up and became more mature. Yet here I am, a
Running Start student who was given the opportunity to experience college at a younger age than is standard. Being able to start a little bit earlier
has indeed been beneficial. At first, it was definitely intimidating, for it is such a different pace than what I have become used to; a slow paced kind
of education. I have noticed that I am a fast learner, so taking my education slow was not really an option for me. That is why I took the challenge of
more complex learning at a community college. After investing much time and effort, mywriting skills have improved tremendously Coming fresh
into college, there are a lot of basic classes that everyone needs to take. One of them is English 101, a class that is required for every degree that is
offered here at Highline. I knew that it would not be easy, especially for me. I was never a good writer, for there was always something that I was
struggling with, such as not going deep enough, or the writing being very bland. I put some of the blame on my past teachers;, their way of teaching
how to be an effective writer was not effective. What they taught was very structured and did not leave much room for a student to grow.
As we come to a closing in this English 101 course, I can confidently say that I am leaving with much more knowledge than when I first

My Personal Experience : My Journey To College
I came to college to explore the world and learn more about myself. In a small town, there's never much to do. In the country surrounded by corn
fields there's even less. As a little girl college had always been the dream. For the obvious reasons of getting a good education, finding a job, and
making money. As I matured my reasons for attendingcollege became more complex. Things at home were never very good and most of time I
usually found myself held prisoner in the house. Exploring the world and learning new things had always been my passion. But, as time went on I
began to lose my purpose in life. I soon realized that college could help me find that purpose that I was searching for. Growing up I was always one of

It had always been my dream to travel all over the world instead of staying in the same one street town all of my life. I knew that college would
bring me on step closer to that dream. Since coming to Upper Iowa University I've looked into all of the possible chances to study abroad. Along
with traveling I've always loved to try new things from food to new activities. Being at college there has already been so many opportunities that I
never would have gotten the chance to do. Here I'm able to go out and socialize with new people every day. I probably would have never gotten the
chance to play laser tag or go paintballing. I am surrounded by people from different cultures, who were raised in all different raise. People here
think in ways and ideas that I never would have thought of. Even though while I'm in college I still have a routine everyday isn't the same for me.
In my home town, it was the same thing day after day. I would wake up, go to school, then go back home just to start all over again. I began to get
lost in my conventional, everyday life. I couldn't see the meaning in my life anymore. It felt as if I was a robot just going through the motions that
someone had laid out for me. Getting stuck in the same routine day to day made it feel as if I was losing my purpose in life. All I did everyday was
go to school and then go back home and do homework. I was giving no actual contribution to the world.

My Personal Journey On Social Work
My Personal Journey to Social Work
The decision to pursue my education in social work at Dalhousie University was not an easy one. While I was growing up, my career choice
changed all of them time, but I always knew that I wanted to do something fulfilling, in which I could "help" and support people. My mom was a
nurse and always loved helping people; I always figured I would follow in her footsteps, however I learned at an early age that sciences do not come
easy to me. Unfortunately, my mom lost her battle to breast cancer when I was eight years old, so I hope that by me helping people socially, rather
than medically like she did, will continue her legacy.
I decided to obtain my Bachelor of Arts degree at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, N.S. where I double majored in Criminology and Sociology and
minored in Psychology. Once I graduated, I still did not know what career path was right for me, so I took a year off. In the meantime, I applied to
three Schools of Social Work: Dalhousie University in Halifax, N.S., St. Thomas University in Fredericton, N.B., and Memorial University in St.
John's, N.L. I spent my gap year working to save up money so I could pay for my next two years of schooling. I decided to apply to schools of social
work because I was really interested in my courses that were related to child development and behaviours, interactions between people and society,
social inequality and justice, and human rights, which are all relevant to social work.

My faith journey has been challenged throughout my life. I have had many ups and downs, and many times when I questioned my faith. Although
those times were rough, I found comfort in God and knowing that He is always there for me. One of my favorite quotes is "I can do all things
through Christ who strengthens me" Philippians 4:13. This quote got me through tough times when my faith was shaking. In the past, my faith had
been challenged on numerous occasions. The very first time that my faith was challenged was when I was nine. I was diagnosed with type one
diabetes (T1D). This was so hard for my family and I to cope with and to understand. I did not know anything about T1D nor all the strains that came
with it. I blamed God for giving me this disease, I had asked him "Why me, what did I do to deserve this?" I spent a lot of time seeking for this answer.
A few days after being diagnosed with T1D I had received the news that my grandpa had passed away. This was really hard for me to deal with and to
understand why it happened so soon. My sophomore year of high school was really difficult for me. I had lost both of my grandmas that year. I tried
my best to cope with the fact that I would not get to see them at holidays anymore, that they would never see me graduate high school, or that I would
not be able to hear their wonderful and happy voices anymore. It reached the point that I had mostly given up on God. I was not ready to say goodbye
to some of the people that

Reflection On My Personal Journey
These last two weeks have really open my mind up to reflect on my own personal journey. I thought this course was going to consist of different views
about stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination towards different racial groups. Before taking this class, I never took the time to just think about other
people journeys and how might they could be different from my own journey. As someone who hopes to become a teacher, I need to understand my
own personal journey before learning about others. It starts with understanding your own social identity; your social identity is how you establish
yourself as a person. My social identity contains all these characteristics: African American, a Christian, able bodied, heterosexual female, working class
family, and rural area placed. Growing up I really didn't see traditional roles or gender roles in my household. My mother was a single parent that
took on both parent roles at times. However, both my parents have been in my life to support both my sisters and I equally. My mother always did all
the household chores and cared for us girls. My mother always worked a full– time job. My grandparents played a key role in my life growing up. My
grandmother watched us in the afternoon while my mother will be at work. My grandparents were the ones who held high standards on traditional
roles for a woman versus a man. I can remember watching my grandmother doing all the cooking and cleaning, and waiting on granddaddy hand and
foot. I can

Leadership Is A Personal Journey Essay
The study of leadership teaches leaders about what motivates people to work. Thus, it's understood that all motivated employees, and team players
will be more productive. Therefore, the study of various theories and models of motivation, such as Maslow's hierarchy of needs model, and
Herzberg's two factor theory are carefully studied to improve leader's ability to motivate their employees. Also, studyingleadership enables leaders to
understand people and the work environment better. However, most importantly, the study of leadership is a personal journey. Helping a person to
develop their leadership potentials, which enables one to develop their leadership potentials. Therefore, understanding leadership is really learning
about understanding yourself. When I decided to take this leadership class. My expectations were to learn more about myself, how to effectively
communicate with difficult people, and become a better leader. My expectations were met. However, I have also learned that I need to develop my
interpersonal skills to bring people together. As I reflect over the leadership course, my weaknesses are a need to develop my interpersonal skills, and
having an introvert personality. Interpersonal skills are life skills that I use every day to communicate and interact with other people, both individually,
and in groups. Steps that I will take to improve my interpersonal skills are expressing more appreciation for team members and support staff, actively

My Personal Journey Essays
Journeys are moments in life that define and reconstruct the myths we create about ourselves and others. All too often the ideals of a biased
community or select group are viewed as the model by which all individuals must follow. To escape the pressures of a collective standard a person
must travel outside the constraints of a community and discover his or her own true identity. On such a journey one can expect moments of planned
reflection or unexpected instances of revelation. A journey is everyminute of my existence, as I travel through life and try to ascertain my own presence
in its cycle.

I had only been camping once or twice and even then it was with all the comforts of modern camping gear. Was I ready for this?
As my guide paddled away I looked down at my feet and surveyed the few preparations which I had brought. I had a sleeping bag; a tarp; a yard of
string; two bags of food, which were little more than fruits, nuts, and cheese; two canteens of warm water; and the clothes on my back, which I had
layered several deep. Before I would even attempt to sort through the real reasons why I had come on this trip I decided to set camp.
As I looked about me, I saw that there was not one smooth area within a hundred yards. Because I had to be within whistling distance of my guide,
in case of an emergency, I could not wander off. The first place I looked was the rocky stretch of beach. As I walked along looking for a small cave
or shelter I noticed dozens of minuscule creatures. These were not companions or friendly wild animals but small biting sand fleas. Now I knew that
no matter how much I wanted to assimilate myself with nature there was a limit to my experience. I just couldn't envision myself happily brushing off
sand fleas all night so I decided to look up in the patch of evergreens that sheltered the beach. After trudging through soggy moss and swampish soil I
found two evergreens that stood alone on a small cliff. I strung up my tarp to try and create the most comfortable

My Personal Journey
At this point in my life, the last thing I expected to do was to have the courage to follow my lifelong dream of being in the healthcare profession as
an Occupational Therapist Assistant. But, a heartfelt presence remained within me when I first became introduced to this field as a young woman
working at a hospital. There was also a calling to assist individuals and contribute to their care and recovery in their daily lives that persisted
throughout my life. Being in a position of making a difference in the lives of others is an extraordinary privilege that I do not take for granted. The
dream of being part of this profession was put on hold but never forgotten, when my educational pursuits led me in another direction as an Elementary
School Teacher where helping at risk students reach their fullest potential intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially was both challenging and
rewarding. My career for the past 8 years has been that of a Certified Elementary Teacher with a specialization in Bilingual Education in Spanish and
English as a Second Language. I have been fortunate in this manner because I have taught underserved children in a lower socioeconomic school who
are at risk of failing due to their classification of being English Language Learners. And for the past three years, I have enjoyed being the
PreKindergarten Bilingual Teacher for these exceptional children and made lasting friendships with the staff and parents at this school.

My Journey As A Personal Journey In My Life
When teenagers transition from the simpler days, such as riding a bicycle, to the world of young adulthood and responsibilities, there are a lot of
adjustments made in the way they live life. Teenagers learn that not everyone has the free time to draw with Crayola markers and play outside
everyday; they learn that time is precious and it needs to be used wisely as they deal with real–life problems such as keeping up with academics,
staying involved in extracurricular activities and in the community, deciding what career path to take, maintaining their responsibilities at home, being
a good friend to others, a good follower of their religion, and a good member to their community. What is unique about teenagers than other age
groups is that they must experience a new step of personal growth: puberty. Being a teenager myself, I have learned that as the years go by, life
definitely gets more challenging, but there is no challenge that I am afraid to accept. The moment I entered high school was a monumental change in my
life. I walked in with one goal in mind: I want to be involved. Three years have passed and I am proud to say that I accomplished that big aspiration of
my 14–year–old self. Finding balance is certainly the key to keep moving forward in life. As I maintain a big plate of responsibilities consisting of
my job, future career, family, friends, and school, all of these parts in my life have encouraged my growth as an individual: physically, mentally,
and emotionally. My spectacular abilities and inner spirit are shining and flourishing more than they have ever been my entire life. At this point in
time, I can absolutely look back at my 17 years of life and humbly say, "I made it." One of the first things that is advised when you enter high
school is to be involved. At the time, it was such a broad statement that I was confused on what it meant to "be involved". Slowly enough, I found
myself falling into place in a myriad of clubs and activities I never thought I would see myself being apart of. Besides being a general member of Best
Buddies International and Interact Club, I currently hold a high position in many others. As president of Key Club International, vice president of

My Personal Journey
The past three years of my life feel like the only part of my life where I have truly lived. The massive majority of my most cherished memories and
greatest challenges have taken place within the last few years. On December 26th 2015 my mom surprised me with a intro flight at my local flight
school as a Christmas present; it was a simple flight up and down the Miami coastline at five hundred feet right as the sun was setting, and I was
hooked the instant my instructor Rudy gave me the yoke. Seeing the city lights ignite the coast as we calmly trekked over downtown Miami was
an image that incited a sense of wonder and longing in me that I had never experienced before. That short one hour flight went by in an instant, and
before I knew it I was back one week later to begin my journey to where I am today. Over the course of two and one half months I balanced
sophomore year of highschool with my private pilot training, finishing two weeks after my seventeenth birthday on March 31st. The next week I
started my instrument and breezed through it in two months, and I quickly moved onto my commercial. The biggest obstacle of my commercial
training was Time. By the time I was done with my instrument and ready to knock out my next stage of training, I learned that one needed to be
eighteen in order to take the checkride. This happened to work out nicely, as it allowed me to focus more on school and enjoying my accomplishments
with some relaxing cross–countries to build time. The

What Does It Mean To You Essay
Everyone says things come and go so don't stress so much about what you can't control. (Ha that kind of rhymed)
Anyways ... people never tell you what you'll experience when "it" does arrive and when "it" eventually leaves. What I refer to as "it" is anything you
want to substitute it for. For me "it" refers to people.
If you will, join me and i'll take you on a tour of my own personal journey, enjoy :)
I understand what it feels like to have the world against you. Especially to the point where you feel so trapped and you feel like you're just not good
enough. I'm pretty sure you've all heard people say "I can be standing in a room full of people screaming at the top of my lungs and yet nobody seems
to hear me"
Sadly, that's how I felt. I'm a happy person, I genuinely love being positive. However, for some odd reason I was drowning in my own sorrow.
In those moments not only was I looking for happiness .... I was looking for REAL happiness because I wanted my positive attitude back.
I want all my viewers to know it's okay to feel sad but you need to brush it off, get back up and keep pushing forward. I want you to acknowledge that
there's nothing wrong with you. Whatever loss you've encountered understand that it's not your fault and something great will come out of it. I want
you to know that you're enough!
Truthfully, everyone will experience the pain of losing someone from time to time. There's just no way to avoid it. You could say I lost a lot of people

Personal Narrative- Life As A Journey Essay

  • 1. Personal Narrative- Life as a Journey Essay Personal Narrative– Life as a Journey The journey of life follows a predetermined pattern; we evolve from needing influence and guidance to finally reaching that point where our lives are up to us. I consider myself very lucky up to this point in my journey. Some people become sidetracked and wind up on a far different course than initially planned, but the detours I made have only assisted in embellishing the individual instead of devouring it. According to Freud a person's most important period to grow personality ranges from birth to six years. In that span my biggest influences came from my family. When I think of that time before kindergarten, the single most important person to my development was my grandmother Carmen. She ...show more content... I hadn't shown up to bowling that morning so he called my house then came to the hospital. Nobody made him come to see me so quickly but he did. I will never forget the look in his face as he stared down at me. Hopefully every young person can look at two loving parents for guidance and help. I know how fortunate it is that I live with both of my natural parents, and that they both want the best for me. My parents embedded the values I cherish today into my spirit: the difference between right and wrong, the correct way to deal with anger, the importance of dedication and hard work in life. Those seem like cliques yet society refuses to hold those basic principles sacred anymore. I consider it an honor and privilege to have parents with common sense and self–worth. Other things have also affected the path I continue on today. Music certainly opened doors and unfounded emotions. Playing the saxophone, conducting, and even composing allowed this aestheticism to flow out from the depths of my being. Without becoming an artist I certainly would not understand my potential or the self–discipline reaching a particular goal entails. Listening to poetry and music has helped to forge the Rick of today. The sonnets of William Shakespeare and symphonies of Beethoven express desires and feelings that I have yet to even discover. Without those outlets to describe the indescribable, I would probably be a more isolated and confused person than I am today. Now that I have

  • 3. Personal Development Essay Many people work very hard in their life but they do not seem to be able to achieve something worthwhile (Personal Goal Setting, 2013). Successful people on the other hand, know what they want and create plans to help them achieve these goals. They will establish a step by step plan, and will continue to follow that plan until their goal is achieved. These people tend to be proactive rather than be reactive. Personal planning is really important because it helps you not only to achieve your goals but to tell you how you can achieve them. Without a personal plan, it will be hard to attain any objectives you want to complete. Whether it is a short–term goal or a long–term goal, there must be a strategy on how to reach it. Having goals at ...show more content... Or you may want to have a positive monthly cash flow of $500 dollars to be put in the savings account, so then you will need to plan on how you should lower your expenses to reach the monthly cash flow you want. Goal setting is therefore really important in our everyday personal life. However in my case, I have difficulty managing my time for schoolwork and personal finances. For schoolwork, I always finish my schoolwork in the last minute or study right before quizzes or tests. A reason for this may be due to I never planned a schedule for how and when will I study for a test or for a project. I usually forget about having a test or is just lazy to start studying for it. This is why when I start studying the night before the test or exam, I have a hard time trying to figure what should I study first and what I should study last. Then, a lot of time is wasted on deciding how I should start studying. I usually tend to wait for things such as exams and schoolwork to appear before addressing them. In order to be better at personal planning and become more successful, a specific strategy must be implemented relating to goal–setting and time management. Studying for exams require a lot of time and hard work to achieve good grades. The first task to do if you want to be successful at school is to set a goal about getting good grades. Without this goal, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Personal Journey Research Paper Many students have had their own personal journeys into college. People experienced inspirations on their journey, whether it`s from a family member, mentor, educator or a personal event that occurred in their lives. In my journey into college I`ve been encouraged by many experiences in my life that has brought me to where I'm today. Various people have been a big part of my journey, giving me the encouragement I needed when I wanted to throw in the towel. For example, my mother, my educator Ms. Tynes and even my friends spoke life into when I thought school wasn't meant for me. My first steps while starting my journey to college started when my mother had a serious discussion with me about my behavior in school. In middle...show more content... Michael M. Krop Senior High I began to realize how much commitment had to be put into graduating high school. I felt that studying, homework, assessments, etc. was too much to bare. Once I reached my sophomore year in high school I was contemplating of dropping out of high school. Not knowing how much potential I had to become a scholar student. I met one of the kindest hearted teacher Ms. Tynes. After being my teacher for two semesters she surprisingly saw potential in me even though I did not care about school or her class at all. She called my mother one day and told her, "I would like to take your son out to lunch and have a talk with him." My mother gave her permission to do so, and after class she took me to Chili's and I began to see how cool she was as a person. After we were done eating, she began to ask me about my attitude towards school and why was it so negative. At that moment, I felt like leaving the restaurant but I didn't want to make today a waste for her. After telling her that I felt that school was too much for me she asked me, "What do you want to be when you grow up Brandon ." I told her I wanted to become a funeral director. She then told me, "Well if you want to become a funeral director, you have to be willing to work your butt off and show that you really want to achieve this goal, and make it into a reality." My Life My Journey Essay As a very small child I don't remember too much, but the things that I do remember were seen through a child's eyes that has made me the person that I am today and I will always have those memory's with me until my last breath on this earth. In this essay I intend to show how my childhood and adult life to this point has influenced my life, my journey. By utilizing the adult development theories from this class I also intend on showing how they relate to my Life experiences and where I am today as an Adult student. Its funny how as a child you look at things. As time passes, those same child memories become life experiences as an adult. As Erickson's stated in his psychosocial development theory, "which refers to the development within the social environment in which a person lives, primarily focusing on relationships with other people" (Simanowitz & Pearce. 2003). This had brought back memories of how my relationship was when we were little. I was always kind of upset with Robbie because he was one of those kids that had that natural athletic ability. Robbie could run faster and throw better, do everything better when it came to sports, but the real reason I was mad at Robbie most of my childhood life was because every time something went wrong, I always got the blame and in trouble. Mom would say "You're older you should have known better" Yes she was right most of the time I did know better. I was the middle child and I was always the one that got into trouble even though Robbie might have done it first. I had a good childhood for the most part, I can't remember not doing without the things that I really needed as a child. Things like clothes, food, shelter and love from a family. • 6. My Personal Journey With My Group When this course started, I didn't know what to expect. Quickly did I learn that it was more than just about a single individual and his or her ideas and behaviours. As the course progressed, I learned that it was very important to understand how small groups work. Reflecting upon my personal journey with my group, I have learnt that working in small groups requires commitment, synergy, communication, listening, conflict resolution and decision making and problem solving. This brings me upon my personal journey with my small group and how I have learned to work in such an environment. Our team comprised of four members; Emily, Cileena, Chelsea and I. We were all delegated with an individual role each term and I was designated team leader for the first term for our group. I felt at the time that this role did not suit me as I am the type of person who is more on the shy side. In addition, the course had just begun so I was relatively unsure of how the course was handled which also affected my ability to serve as the team leader to the best of my capabilities. During the first term, our team responsibility was the evaluation team. We created a well planned and carefully executed evaluation rubric to assess each group's performance. The start of this term was when the phases of group development initiated. The first stage of any group is forming (Harris and Sherblom, 2010, p. 58). At this time, we were all still getting to know each other and were uncertain upon one another Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Journey Essay English Speech– Journeys "To travel hopefully is a better thing than to arrive." In other words a journey and the experiences you have are better than the actual destination. The novel "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain and the poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost have taught me that journeys may involves barriers and hardships, they can lead to significant personal change and more importantly journeys facilitate reflection about how you see yourself, others and the world. Journeys are very important in personal change and growth. They can also help us in comparing and contrasting new and old experiences. Journeys may involve many barriers and hardships and overcoming them can lead to personal change and growth."The...show more content... In addition, "The Road Not Taken" also shows us how journeys allow for our reflection on many things. In the poem the traveller experiences an obstacle or fork in the road. This allows the traveller to take in his surroundings whether that be the path ahead or the people around him. This is shown when he states 'two roads diverged in a yellow wood'. The traveller has two options and to make a decision he has to really explore both of them. Robert Frost uses this poem to express his belief in not always following the crowd and being an individual. Robert Frost uses conversational language to create a sense of communication between the traveller and the reader and to enlighten the reflection that the traveller has made. After comparing both paths and seeing every option his reflection about his journey changes. The traveller decides to go with the path less travelled. He decides to be different. Journeys can lead to significant personal change. The experiences you have on a journey can shape and change your perception of yourself and the people around you. In 'The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn' this is shown when Huck's beliefs change and he becomes more mature. Huck and Jim's relationship also develops throughout the journey. Huck's perception of Jim at the beginning of the journey is very different compared to the end. At the start Huck doesn't take Jim very seriously and has no compassion or respect for him. • 8. My Journey On My Spiritual Journey Essay As I reflect back on my spiritual journey, I remember times of questioning God, praying in times of need, and asking why certain things happen the way they do. My journey has brought me through rough patches of my life and times of life learning lessons. Looking back at the past and up until now, I was not the one to attend church every Sunday and pray before every meal. I questioned some of the ways my church wanted us to learn about God. I even questioned God about certain events in life and why they happened. I look back on this as a way to show me how learning from God and about him is not always done in a church. As I make my way through nursing school, I have also learned that many individuals turn to their spirituality, find their faith, or pray that their belief will bring them comfort. My spiritual journey has taught me lessons of each these through good and bad times. My spiritual journey was not perfect and I am still learning from it. This journey has taken me through good times in my life and some really rough times in my life. The bad times never stopped me from changing my faith in God or staying mad at him. I have always learned in church, Sunday school, and church camps that God has a plan for everyone. Those plans will not be perfect and will not be easy. These plans will teach me about life and who I am becoming today. At the beginning of this journey, I had no clue about my faith in God. At this time in my life, I was around the age of five and was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. A Journey of Personal Growth Becoming a college student has always seemed so far away; an eternity would pass before I grew up and became more mature. Yet here I am, a Running Start student who was given the opportunity to experience college at a younger age than is standard. Being able to start a little bit earlier has indeed been beneficial. At first, it was definitely intimidating, for it is such a different pace than what I have become used to; a slow paced kind of education. I have noticed that I am a fast learner, so taking my education slow was not really an option for me. That is why I took the challenge of more complex learning at a community college. After investing much time and effort, mywriting skills have improved tremendously Coming fresh into college, there are a lot of basic classes that everyone needs to take. One of them is English 101, a class that is required for every degree that is offered here at Highline. I knew that it would not be easy, especially for me. I was never a good writer, for there was always something that I was struggling with, such as not going deep enough, or the writing being very bland. I put some of the blame on my past teachers;, their way of teaching how to be an effective writer was not effective. What they taught was very structured and did not leave much room for a student to grow. As we come to a closing in this English 101 course, I can confidently say that I am leaving with much more knowledge than when I first Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. My Personal Experience : My Journey To College I came to college to explore the world and learn more about myself. In a small town, there's never much to do. In the country surrounded by corn fields there's even less. As a little girl college had always been the dream. For the obvious reasons of getting a good education, finding a job, and making money. As I matured my reasons for attendingcollege became more complex. Things at home were never very good and most of time I usually found myself held prisoner in the house. Exploring the world and learning new things had always been my passion. But, as time went on I began to lose my purpose in life. I soon realized that college could help me find that purpose that I was searching for. Growing up I was always one of those weird kids that...show more content... It had always been my dream to travel all over the world instead of staying in the same one street town all of my life. I knew that college would bring me on step closer to that dream. Since coming to Upper Iowa University I've looked into all of the possible chances to study abroad. Along with traveling I've always loved to try new things from food to new activities. Being at college there has already been so many opportunities that I never would have gotten the chance to do. Here I'm able to go out and socialize with new people every day. I probably would have never gotten the chance to play laser tag or go paintballing. I am surrounded by people from different cultures, who were raised in all different raise. People here think in ways and ideas that I never would have thought of. Even though while I'm in college I still have a routine everyday isn't the same for me. In my home town, it was the same thing day after day. I would wake up, go to school, then go back home just to start all over again. I began to get lost in my conventional, everyday life. I couldn't see the meaning in my life anymore. It felt as if I was a robot just going through the motions that someone had laid out for me. Getting stuck in the same routine day to day made it feel as if I was losing my purpose in life. All I did everyday was go to school and then go back home and do homework. I was giving no actual contribution to the world. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. My Personal Journey On Social Work My Personal Journey to Social Work The decision to pursue my education in social work at Dalhousie University was not an easy one. While I was growing up, my career choice changed all of them time, but I always knew that I wanted to do something fulfilling, in which I could "help" and support people. My mom was a nurse and always loved helping people; I always figured I would follow in her footsteps, however I learned at an early age that sciences do not come easy to me. Unfortunately, my mom lost her battle to breast cancer when I was eight years old, so I hope that by me helping people socially, rather than medically like she did, will continue her legacy. I decided to obtain my Bachelor of Arts degree at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, N.S. where I double majored in Criminology and Sociology and minored in Psychology. Once I graduated, I still did not know what career path was right for me, so I took a year off. In the meantime, I applied to three Schools of Social Work: Dalhousie University in Halifax, N.S., St. Thomas University in Fredericton, N.B., and Memorial University in St. John's, N.L. I spent my gap year working to save up money so I could pay for my next two years of schooling. I decided to apply to schools of social work because I was really interested in my courses that were related to child development and behaviours, interactions between people and society, social inequality and justice, and human rights, which are all relevant to social work. • 12. My faith journey has been challenged throughout my life. I have had many ups and downs, and many times when I questioned my faith. Although those times were rough, I found comfort in God and knowing that He is always there for me. One of my favorite quotes is "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" Philippians 4:13. This quote got me through tough times when my faith was shaking. In the past, my faith had been challenged on numerous occasions. The very first time that my faith was challenged was when I was nine. I was diagnosed with type one diabetes (T1D). This was so hard for my family and I to cope with and to understand. I did not know anything about T1D nor all the strains that came with it. I blamed God for giving me this disease, I had asked him "Why me, what did I do to deserve this?" I spent a lot of time seeking for this answer. A few days after being diagnosed with T1D I had received the news that my grandpa had passed away. This was really hard for me to deal with and to understand why it happened so soon. My sophomore year of high school was really difficult for me. I had lost both of my grandmas that year. I tried my best to cope with the fact that I would not get to see them at holidays anymore, that they would never see me graduate high school, or that I would not be able to hear their wonderful and happy voices anymore. It reached the point that I had mostly given up on God. I was not ready to say goodbye to some of the people that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Reflection On My Personal Journey These last two weeks have really open my mind up to reflect on my own personal journey. I thought this course was going to consist of different views about stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination towards different racial groups. Before taking this class, I never took the time to just think about other people journeys and how might they could be different from my own journey. As someone who hopes to become a teacher, I need to understand my own personal journey before learning about others. It starts with understanding your own social identity; your social identity is how you establish yourself as a person. My social identity contains all these characteristics: African American, a Christian, able bodied, heterosexual female, working class family, and rural area placed. Growing up I really didn't see traditional roles or gender roles in my household. My mother was a single parent that took on both parent roles at times. However, both my parents have been in my life to support both my sisters and I equally. My mother always did all the household chores and cared for us girls. My mother always worked a full– time job. My grandparents played a key role in my life growing up. My grandmother watched us in the afternoon while my mother will be at work. My grandparents were the ones who held high standards on traditional roles for a woman versus a man. I can remember watching my grandmother doing all the cooking and cleaning, and waiting on granddaddy hand and foot. I can Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Leadership Is A Personal Journey Essay The study of leadership teaches leaders about what motivates people to work. Thus, it's understood that all motivated employees, and team players will be more productive. Therefore, the study of various theories and models of motivation, such as Maslow's hierarchy of needs model, and Herzberg's two factor theory are carefully studied to improve leader's ability to motivate their employees. Also, studyingleadership enables leaders to understand people and the work environment better. However, most importantly, the study of leadership is a personal journey. Helping a person to develop their leadership potentials, which enables one to develop their leadership potentials. Therefore, understanding leadership is really learning about understanding yourself. When I decided to take this leadership class. My expectations were to learn more about myself, how to effectively communicate with difficult people, and become a better leader. My expectations were met. However, I have also learned that I need to develop my interpersonal skills to bring people together. As I reflect over the leadership course, my weaknesses are a need to develop my interpersonal skills, and having an introvert personality. Interpersonal skills are life skills that I use every day to communicate and interact with other people, both individually, and in groups. Steps that I will take to improve my interpersonal skills are expressing more appreciation for team members and support staff, actively listen, slow to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. My Personal Journey Essays Journeys are moments in life that define and reconstruct the myths we create about ourselves and others. All too often the ideals of a biased community or select group are viewed as the model by which all individuals must follow. To escape the pressures of a collective standard a person must travel outside the constraints of a community and discover his or her own true identity. On such a journey one can expect moments of planned reflection or unexpected instances of revelation. As my guide paddled away I looked down at my feet and surveyed the few preparations which I had brought. I had a sleeping bag; a tarp; a yard of string; two bags of food, which were little more than fruits, nuts, and cheese; two canteens of warm water; and the clothes on my back, which I had layered several deep. Before I would even attempt to sort through the real reasons why I had come on this trip I decided to set camp. As I looked about me, I saw that there was not one smooth area within a hundred yards. Because I had to be within whistling distance of my guide, in case of an emergency, I could not wander off. The first place I looked was the rocky stretch of beach. As I walked along looking for a small cave or shelter I noticed dozens of minuscule creatures. These were not companions or friendly wild animals but small biting sand fleas. Now I knew that no matter how much I wanted to assimilate myself with nature there was a limit to my experience. I just couldn't envision myself happily brushing off sand fleas all night so I decided to look up in the patch of evergreens that sheltered the beach. After trudging through soggy moss and swampish soil I found two evergreens that stood alone on a small cliff. I strung up my tarp to try and create the most comfortable Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. My Personal Journey Essay My Personal Journey At this point in my life, the last thing I expected to do was to have the courage to follow my lifelong dream of being in the healthcare profession as an Occupational Therapist Assistant. But, a heartfelt presence remained within me when I first became introduced to this field as a young woman working at a hospital. There was also a calling to assist individuals and contribute to their care and recovery in their daily lives that persisted throughout my life. Being in a position of making a difference in the lives of others is an extraordinary privilege that I do not take for granted. The dream of being part of this profession was put on hold but never forgotten, when my educational pursuits led me in another direction as an Elementary School Teacher where helping at risk students reach their fullest potential intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially was both challenging and rewarding. My career for the past 8 years has been that of a Certified Elementary Teacher with a specialization in Bilingual Education in Spanish and English as a Second Language. I have been fortunate in this manner because I have taught underserved children in a lower socioeconomic school who are at risk of failing due to their classification of being English Language Learners. And for the past three years, I have enjoyed being the PreKindergarten Bilingual Teacher for these exceptional children and made lasting friendships with the staff and parents at this school. • 17. My Journey As A Personal Journey In My Life When teenagers transition from the simpler days, such as riding a bicycle, to the world of young adulthood and responsibilities, there are a lot of adjustments made in the way they live life. Teenagers learn that not everyone has the free time to draw with Crayola markers and play outside everyday; they learn that time is precious and it needs to be used wisely as they deal with real–life problems such as keeping up with academics, staying involved in extracurricular activities and in the community, deciding what career path to take, maintaining their responsibilities at home, being a good friend to others, a good follower of their religion, and a good member to their community. What is unique about teenagers than other age groups is that they must experience a new step of personal growth: puberty. Being a teenager myself, I have learned that as the years go by, life definitely gets more challenging, but there is no challenge that I am afraid to accept. The moment I entered high school was a monumental change in my life. I walked in with one goal in mind: I want to be involved. Three years have passed and I am proud to say that I accomplished that big aspiration of my 14–year–old self. Finding balance is certainly the key to keep moving forward in life. As I maintain a big plate of responsibilities consisting of my job, future career, family, friends, and school, all of these parts in my life have encouraged my growth as an individual: physically, mentally, and emotionally. My spectacular abilities and inner spirit are shining and flourishing more than they have ever been my entire life. At this point in time, I can absolutely look back at my 17 years of life and humbly say, "I made it." One of the first things that is advised when you enter high school is to be involved. At the time, it was such a broad statement that I was confused on what it meant to "be involved". Slowly enough, I found myself falling into place in a myriad of clubs and activities I never thought I would see myself being apart of. Besides being a general member of Best Buddies International and Interact Club, I currently hold a high position in many others. As president of Key Club International, vice president of Senior Class Council, a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. My Personal Journey The past three years of my life feel like the only part of my life where I have truly lived. The massive majority of my most cherished memories and greatest challenges have taken place within the last few years. On December 26th 2015 my mom surprised me with a intro flight at my local flight school as a Christmas present; it was a simple flight up and down the Miami coastline at five hundred feet right as the sun was setting, and I was hooked the instant my instructor Rudy gave me the yoke. Seeing the city lights ignite the coast as we calmly trekked over downtown Miami was an image that incited a sense of wonder and longing in me that I had never experienced before. That short one hour flight went by in an instant, and before I knew it I was back one week later to begin my journey to where I am today. Over the course of two and one half months I balanced sophomore year of highschool with my private pilot training, finishing two weeks after my seventeenth birthday on March 31st. The next week I started my instrument and breezed through it in two months, and I quickly moved onto my commercial. The biggest obstacle of my commercial training was Time. By the time I was done with my instrument and ready to knock out my next stage of training, I learned that one needed to be eighteen in order to take the checkride. This happened to work out nicely, as it allowed me to focus more on school and enjoying my accomplishments with some relaxing cross–countries to build time. The Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. What Does It Mean To You Essay Everyone says things come and go so don't stress so much about what you can't control. (Ha that kind of rhymed) Anyways ... people never tell you what you'll experience when "it" does arrive and when "it" eventually leaves. What I refer to as "it" is anything you want to substitute it for. For me "it" refers to people. If you will, join me and i'll take you on a tour of my own personal journey, enjoy :) I understand what it feels like to have the world against you. Especially to the point where you feel so trapped and you feel like you're just not good enough. I'm pretty sure you've all heard people say "I can be standing in a room full of people screaming at the top of my lungs and yet nobody seems to hear me" Sadly, that's how I felt. I want you to acknowledge that there's nothing wrong with you. Whatever loss you've encountered understand that it's not your fault and something great will come out of it. I want you to know that you're enough! Truthfully, everyone will experience the pain of losing someone from time to time. There's just no way to avoid it. You could say I lost a lot of people that I loved Get more content on HelpWriting.net

On April 1st, 2013 I was walking back from the Micky D's on washington ave and on my way across the crosswalk on Allen's Place I was hit by a car. This car hit me and I was thrown about 10 feet. I was unconscious, at the time and everything I am telling you at this moment in time was all told to me. After the accident I was never the same kid. My mother says I was more closed minded, she says to me that I used to enjoy playing outside and getting to know the nature around me. I can't remember this, I remember the parts of my life after that accident. I have a Traumatic Brain Injury from this incident. I find that, I am very lucky in the sense that I should have been dead. This in my case is an "aha moment". I found that I really need to take my time and to not sign on that dotted line, cause when you do everything you know is irrelevant. This moment in my life has changed me for the better I believe and through time I will get better, but isn't time the thing we are lacking. I going to go off from this aha moment and explain something that many people don't do. I believe that this will make my aha moment more clear. At this time you know that I am a young asian male, who believes that everything he does changes for a reason. You may think that I am boisterous about having survived a car accident, and that I am normal human. But in reality or what we know as reality I am none of these.
