Legionella & Decontamination Compliance Manager
This role now includes decontamination looking after the endoscopy washer & dryers units along with the
Autoclave units for laboratory use in high pressure sterilisation & including the below specification
description.
As the Water Hygiene Manager I have been appointed by the Responsible Person to provide assistance
to the Estates & Project Teams with the monitoring and auditing of the agreed implemented maintenance
routines & extra works, thus ensuring that the systems are at all times operated in a manner to ensure
public health and safety. This appointment is to cover the three hospitals Watford General, Hemel
Hempstead & St Albans, with a few out buildings within the Hertfordshire area. Duties include liaison with
the Independent Auditor, Health & Safety Executive, Environmental Health Officer, consultant ( Hydrop),
Estates Technical Team and the Specialist water quality maintenance Contractor’s for the management
of all onsite water systems.
As this individual I will have the responsibilities of the fundamental regulations of the organisations
operational maintenance statutory compliance in accordance with the Water Safety Plan incorporating
Legionella & Pseudomonas and have the necessary practical operation and expertise to undertake these
duties.
The main objectives are to:
• Identify any significant defects that would adversely affect the performance of the water services
• Report on plant conditions that could affect the water services, report on their cause and provide
a indication of what maintenance programme or remedial actions need to be carried out.
• Recommend intrusive inspections outside the scope of the condition survey
( Internal photographic Reports ) for all water and air systems.
• Provide new technical water Spread sheets for Water sampling / elevated results for ongoing
compliance with the current statutory & non-statutory regulations: ACoP L8 2013, HSG 274 Part
1,2,3, HTM 04-01 Parts A&B, TM44, TR19, HTM 07-01 Producing site specific method
statements & risk assessments with the current water consultants, along with statutory & good
practice maintenance programmes procedures.
• Asset Register – to develop a reliable asset register along with a database on all Showers, TMV
Tap outlets, CWST`s, Calorifiers, Drinking water coolers & overall condition of plant and
associated systems. Both the asset register and the condition appraisal will help the

maintenance and Estates management staff plan for future maintenance, replacement and
refurbishment needs. And to ensure these assets are kept up to date through all project works.
• Carry out site audits to identify failings in the maintenance programme & to submit the findings to
the compliance team for account managers & directors to implement actions.
• Regularly review the L8 Risk Assessments for all buildings to ensure the schematic drawings &
RA is current & up to date, make changes where necessary to ensure that West Hertfordshire
Trust is compliant in all areas.
• To improve levels of service by innovative initiatives by excellent communication with all staff
delivering results in partnership throughout the Trust.

assistance to the Facilities Technical Team with the monitoring and auditing of the agreed implemented

Supporting all high risk cooling tower sites throughout the UK & NI, Advising on L8;2013,
HS(G) 274 1,2,3 HTM04-01 A&B, TM44 2011, dealing with water related issues with clients, consultants,
Health & Safety Executive & the Environmental Health Officers, this is for site audits, inspections on
compliance legislation & Health & Safety
Another key role was to run water related project works from commencement through to completion
dealing with day to day issues making key decisions for work competed to a very high standard safely &
in the time frame allocated. Submitting technical photographic reports before and after works to the
clients.
The main objectives were to:

• Identify when 'faulty' plant conditions could be reached, report on their cause and provide an
indication of what maintenance actions need to be carried out

Manage a team of thirty two engineers in the day to day running of the Royal Bank of Scotland contract
consisting of 724 buildings, for Water & Ventilation systems to a value of 600K on the ppms & 500K on
extra / project works annually, also looked after several other contracts including Deutsche Bank, U.B.S.
Nomura Bank, controlling labour, estimating, invoicing, supervising minor & major project through self
deliverance & subcontractors, this consisted of cooling tower replacements new tank installs, ductwork &
grease extract cleaning all plumbing installs
As part of the management structure it was the Contract Managers responsibility to:
• Head of team, effectively in the control of a 2.0 Million budget
• Have day to day contact with the client, feeding back updates and the control of safe systems of
work playing an important role to this position.
• Make sure targets are met.
• Provide good and effective cost management providing the client with the best value for money.
• Where possible offering the client payback on money spent and providing business cases on
energy savings to secure future projects.
• Prepare all quotes, no quotes over thirty thousand to be sent without my approval and any
projects over one hundred thousand to be counter-signed by a director before submitting.

• Take over as CDMc (Construction Design Management Co-ordinator) should the project exceed
30 days or 500 man working hours under CDM Regulationss.

are working within their method statement guidelines and that control measures for safe
systems of works.

As the Water Hygiene Manager I have been appointed by the Responsible Person to provide assistance to the Estates & Project Teams with the monitoring and auditing of the agreed implemented maintenance routines & extra works, thus ensuring that the systems are at all times operated in a manner to ensure public health and safety. This appointment is to cover the three hospitals Watford General, Hemel Hempstead & St Albans, with a few out buildings within the Hertfordshire area. As this individual I will have the responsibilities of the fundamental regulations of the organisations operational maintenance statutory compliance in accordance with the Water Safety Plan incorporating Legionella & Pseudomonas and have the necessary practical operation and expertise to undertake these duties. Nomura Bank, controlling labour, estimating, invoicing, supervising minor & major project through self deliverance & subcontractors, this consisted of cooling tower replacements new tank installs, ductwork & grease extract cleaning all plumbing installs As part of the management structure it was the Contract Managers responsibility to: • Head of team, effectively in the control of a 2.0 Million budget • Have day to day contact with the client, feeding back updates and the control of safe systems of work playing an important role to this position. • Make sure targets are met. • Provide good and effective cost management providing the client with the best value for money. • Where possible offering the client payback on money spent and providing business cases on energy savings to secure future projects. • Prepare all quotes, no quotes over thirty thousand to be sent without my approval and any projects over one hundred thousand to be counter-signed by a director before submitting.
