(Dublin, Ireland), November 2014 – present
Continuing my work in EFL teaching I have gained further
experience in teaching English to adults especially teaching
higher levels. I have taken part in CPD initiatives including giving
presentations on specific areas of the field.
I have started integrating social media into the classroom which
allows students to engage in their studies and to support each
other outside the classroom. I have also been creating my own
lessons around documentaries and short videos.
E n g l i s h L a n g u a g e T e a c h e r : Leinster College (Dublin,
Ireland), Sept 2012 – Oct 2014
As an EFL teacher my main role was to teach English to adults
from foreign countries. I taught all levels (A1-C1) but mainly from
Elementary to Intermediate level.
My time in the college enabled me to gain experience and
confidence. My main strengths as an ELT teacher are in my
planning of classes, creating new/adapting resources and the
rapport I have with the students.
CPD – Observing and being observed, workshops on Grammar
Teaching and Team Work. Attended ELT talks given by experts in
the field.
I was also involved in administrative work including helping to
create a syllabus and cataloguing resources. Social events and
cultural activities in the classroom. I also travelled to Milan B.I.T
international fair to promote the school.
S e c o n d a r y S c h o o l T e a c h e r : The Teresian School (Dublin,
Ireland), Sept 2011 – June 2012
As part of my teacher training for the PDE, I taught History and
Spanish at second level. I taught first and Second year classes
and was fully responsible for planning classes, correcting
homework/tests, writing reports and parent teacher meetings.
E D U C A T I O N P r o f e s s i o n a l D i p l o m a i n E d u c a t i o n : UCD 2011 – 2012
This was a one year intensive course which included teaching
practice and pedagogical theory. The course entailed: lesson
planning, disciple procedure, child psychology, special needs
teaching, differentiation, professional conduct etc.
I learnt techniques for language teaching (Spanish), focusing on
the commutative approach. In History I learnt how to use sources
to teach history as well as designing class projects, trips etc.
C e r t i f i c a t e i n E n g l i s h L a n g u a g e T e a c h i n g : Dublin
School of English 2011
During this intensive four week course I learnt modern language
teaching techniques. I also gained experience teaching English
to adults of different levels. Furthermore I got the opportunity to
observe experienced ELT teachers teaching different levels and
courses (General English, IETS and Cambridge First Certificate).
B A I n t e r n a t i o n a l D e g r e e : NUIM Maynooth/University of
Granada Spain 2008 – 2011
I graduated from Maynooth with first class honors in Spanish and
History. Whilst at Maynooth I was vice president of the Spanish
Society and a class representative for third year Spanish. During
my degree I also gave Spanish grinds to secondary school
students and college students.
In 2009-10, I studied at the University of Granada Spain as part of
the Erasmus programme. In this year I also took part in one to one
language exchanges, sharing my English in return for Spanish. I
also studied Arabic, learning the orthography of the language,
building sentences, basic grammar and speaking.
