Globally, infectious diseases are responsible for over 13 million deaths annually. Poor hand
hygiene is directly linked to increased occurrences of infectious diseases, medical visits
and absence from class and work.
Schools are highly susceptible to contamination spread due to the proximity of students
and high-touch shared areas (in classrooms, bathrooms, on playgrounds, and in cafeterias).
