SIX Group operates the Swiss Stock Exchange, Settlement, Clearing, Financial Information and
Payments solutions.
• Senior Requirements Engineer, working on large post-trading projects including a new
Tri-party Agent for Repurchase Agreements (Repos) and Collateral Management, and the
Swiss Derivatives Repository.
November 2009 – May 2014 Credit Suisse, Zürich, Switzerland (permanent)
Credit Suisse is one of the world's largest banks, strong in both private banking and investment
banking.
• IT Project Leader, responsible for the Financial Information System (FIS) in Market Data
Switzerland. The system provides market and reference data to Online Banking and other
clients. The team was 11- 13 people in Zürich and Pune, India. Key achievements include
stabilising the application and team, improving productivity and moving from waterfall to
CS-SDF Scrum. The project delivers around 6 releases per year. The largest of these were:
o Major functional and performance improvements in Search service to support the
Online Banking Investor Focussed Improvements program.
o Migration to Reuters Knowledge Direct to improve data quality.
o Migration to the CS Java Application Platform to improve scalability and reduce
operating costs.

• During transition periods, managed other projects and teams in the department alongside FIS.
• From 2011 to 2013, Player / Coach of the Market Data Switzerland project leaders and
requirements engineers. From 2013, Line Manager of the FIS team.

The Delphi project replaced all the bank’s core systems with finnova. At the same time, some

tests, coordinated by the test team.

Hosting Service Consolidation (HSC) Program
The Hosting Services Consolidation program aimed to reduce the number of data centres, servers and
costs worldwide. The approach was to assess the current data centre and server situation, produce
‘business cases’ evaluating the options, produce implementation plans and implement the
consolidations.
As Program Manager, was responsible for:
• Management of data centre hub projects throughout Europe and later, worldwide
• Coordination with subject matter experts in WAN, storage, client, back office and other
technologies to deliver solutions for HSC
• Business case, costs and budget, progress reporting.

Workstream Leader on a major restructuring program, responsible for Implementation Planning
and Enterprise Operations (servers, data centres).

Quotematch Programme
The Quotematch Programme upgraded the SWX Platform to significantly enhance trading capacity
in quote-driven product segments, namely warrants, international bonds and Exchange Traded Funds.
Quotematch runs on the X-stream trading platform and the SMARTS supervision and surveillance
product, integrated with the existing SWX Platform.
As IT Workstream Leader, managing up to 50 people, was responsible for:
• Analysis and specification of the SWX Platform changes
• Development of the SWX Platform changes
• IT hardware, software and network changes and system management enhancements
• The test team, test strategy, tools and environments build up, recruitment and test specifications.
As Migration Manager, was responsible for:
• The Member Migration Plan, defining external dates, deliveries and commitments
• Technical migrations
• Business readiness
• Set up of the SMARTS Knowledge Centre, responsible for the SMARTS user helpdesk,
development, test, acceptance and rollout to users.
As Computershare and SMARTS Account Manager, was responsible for supplier relationships and
performance according to the Maintenance Agreements.
Team Leader of the SMARTS Knowledge Centre during the post-live stabilisation period,
responsible for the scope, specification, test and implementation of the initial post-live releases.
FIX Interface development
SWX developed FIX 4.2 interfaces to Bloomberg and members to reduce the cost of connecting to
SWX:
• Project Manager of the Bloomberg interface development project and the SWX FIX IT
development
• Business Analyst, responsible for the member interface specifications and the functional
specification of the Bloomberg interfaces, business test specifications and user guides.
SWX Platform Maintenance releases
Project Manager on the project that introduced central counterparty (CCP) at virt-x:
• Coordinated the IT activities of SWX, virt-x, the CCPs (LCH and x-clear) and Central Securities
Depositories (SIS, Euroclear and Crest)
• Wrote the Migration Plan, covering the test and rollout activities of SWX, the CCPs, CSDs and
members.
Planned and managed other maintenance projects, provided user and member support and training.
virt-x implementation and program management
SWX is the IT provider for virt-x, the platform to trade the Swiss SMI and other European blue chip
securities, with services defined in Service Level Agreements.

Member Test Manager, responsible for test schedules, simulated trading days, special tests for
individual members and member test support. After the launch, defined a test pack for new members
and helped them get ready to go live on virt-x.

Swiss Telecommunications Company – Business Analysis and Program Management
As Business Analyst in a newly formed Program Management team, worked on requirements and
solutions analysis on the portfolio of projects including ADSL, eCRM and ASP hosting. Supported
IT Management with several tasks including the IT input to the company’s 2001 Marketing Plan.
Swiss Telecommunications Company – Rollout Management
Logica helped the company to build rollout management capability and a team of 14 internal people.
The project completed successfully well ahead of schedule. Pat’s roles included Logica Project
Manager and customer first contact and definition and build up of the rollout management tasks,
tools and roles.
Swiss Telecommunications Company – Operator Number Portability Server
The company required an automated interface to the Swiss centralised database system (TSP INet-
Server) which manages operator number portability and the internal billing and network systems.
The project was successful despite the short timescale and the large number of interfaces and
suppliers. Pat’s roles included:
• Business Analyst, responsible for functional specification of the initial and long-term solutions.
Specification of changes for suppliers
• Test Manager, responsible for test strategy, specification and execution
Swiss Telecom Service Providers – Operator Number Portability Server
The Telecom Service Providers (TSP) INet-Server is a centralised database system to which the
Swiss TSPs connect via the Internet. It exchanges work orders between TSPs in the number porting
process and keeps one point of reference of all ported numbers in Switzerland. Logica developed the
WWW and database applications.
• Project Manager of the Logica project team, responsible for relations with the main contractor
and the TSPs
• Business Analyst, responsible for the functional specification
• Test Manager, responsible for system and acceptance test specifications.
Swiss Stock Exchange (SWX)
Worked on several projects at SWX from 1993 to 1999 in various roles including Analyst, Test
Manager and Quality Manager. Logica Project Manager/Account Manager from 1996.
Eurex Repo
Repos are money market instruments that involve a temporary exchange of cash and securities. They
are low volume but high value transactions that are important for bond trading and risk management.
Eurex Repo is an electronic market for Swiss and international use.

Business Analyst in the specification team:
• Documented the workshops with traders and credit risk managers and wrote sections of the
requirements specification
• Wrote the main use cases and defined business classes
• Defined and ran business tests of the system.
EBS (Elektronische Börse Schweiz) Development and Enhancements
EBS is a fully automated exchange for shares, bonds and derivatives.
As a Tester, later Test Manager:
• Defined the test strategy, wrote system test specifications, performed integration and system
tests.
• Managed the system test team during the tests leading up to live date for all securities. The
main activities were performance, failover, stability and regression tests.
• Managed the test team (6 - 15 people) during the initial maintenance releases. The main tasks
during this period were data conversion tests, regression tests and performance tests.
As a Business Analyst in the specification team, specified enhancements to the exchange and trading
systems using Yourdon and Teamwork.
1989 – 1993 Corporation of Lloyd’s (permanent employee), Chatham, UK
Lloyd’s Insurance Data Systems (LIDS) Development
LIDS redeveloped Lloyd’s premium accounting systems. It was developed using TELON, PL1 and
DB2 on IBM 3090 equipment. LSDM was used for the analysis and design.
As Senior Analyst, later Lead Analyst:
• Managed a team of six analyst / testers on the development of the final projects of LIDS.
The team was responsible for analysis, logical specifications and data design, test planning and
testing and first line support for user problems.
• Defined the requirements for Treaty Reinsurance business.

UK Clearing Bank
Business Analyst on a very large project to redevelop the bank’s core systems. Analyst Team
Leader of 7 - 15 bank and Logica staff on the detailed analysis of the Processing of Entries
subsystem. Responsible for the analysis deliverables, training staff in analysis methods and helping a
newly formed user group to understand the project and system development process.
Rafidain Bank, Baghdad, Iraq
Programmer/tester on the development team building a retail banking system. The system was
designed to be a nation-wide computerised banking system with a central Honeywell DPS8, regional
minicomputers and branch terminals. Wrote a suite of reports using JSP and COBOL on the DPS8.
Ran system and acceptance tests. Trained the local systems staff.

CHAPS Gateway
The Clearing House Automated Payments System (CHAPS) passes high value payments between
participating clearing banks. The Gateway is fault tolerant and secure communications software
linking the bank specific systems to BT’s Packet Switching Service. The software is in TAL on
Tandem equipment. Programmer / tester, responsible for a message log checking program for
system testing, system tests and enhancements.
