Reflective Essay About A Community
What do you think of when you hear about a community? My first thought was that a community had to be a small group of people that share a
common interest, but why can't a community be a large group of people with things in common? I understand it can be. A community can be a large
or small quantity of people that have any one thing in common. When I hear the word community, I see various of images. I see numerous numbers
of people with such a variety, but coming together as one with commonalities. So, when I was asked to write about a community in my life I had no
idea how to choose my topic, there is so many options, however, when we were assigned to read the article "Beyond the Pleasure Principle" written by
Ann Hulbert I got my inspiration to write about my generation because I do believe my generation stands out from the past generations....show more

While there are hundreds of countries filled with people in my generation I want to focus mainly on the people in my generation that I grew up with
because many of the people can relate to them. Generation z is one whole generation filled with millions of young adult just starting their lives, in
spite of that, I still thing of my generation as a community of people that interact on an every day bases. My generation also known as "generation z"
is a community of people typically born between 1995 to 2012 that share many things in common, but one significant thing is that we all grew up in
the same world around the same time. Just in this area alone there are thousands of us who interact with each other every day. I feel that generation z
has seen drastic changes in technology and education in recent years. Theses significant changes have altered how generation z and future generations

The Role of Community in Society Essay
The Role of Community in Society Communities are an essential part of our society, because we all depend and interact with each other.
Communities are groups of people that help an individual to learn and develop new ideas. A society is where people's relations with each other are
direct and personal and where a complex web of ties link people in mutual bonds of emotion and obligation. The idea of community has provided a
model to contrast to the emergence of more modern less personal societies where cultural, economic and technological transformations have uprooted
tradition and where complexity has created a less personal and more rationalized and goal directed...show more content...
When governments view themselves as centralized command centers overseeing national life and development, neither citizen initiative nor
partnership can become significant forces in overcoming poverty and addressing social problems. Today, governments are beginning to conceive of
their role and their functions in more facilitative and enabling terms, asking which functions do they need to perform and which can they share with
other segments of society. In a time of increasing demand for good governance, governments see the need to perform a more focused role more
efficiently and competently. To achieve this, they need to establish working partnerships with both the private sector and the civil society sector to
solve social problems and reduce economic inequities. In countries where it is feasible, additional public resources need to be raised for such social
development efforts. For a tri–sector strategy to fully succeed, the newly emerging civil society sector in many countries requires strengthening and
support. National laws and practices need to be revised to create an enabling framework for a flourishing, independent civil society sector. The sector
needs training and capacity–building to help it to perform its major functions effectively and accountably and to

A young person should strive to support their local community for various reasons. Engaging in community service provides people with the
opportunity to become active members of their community and has a lasting, positive impact on society at large. Community service and volunteerism
enables one to acquire life skills and knowledge, as well as provide a service to those who need it most.
Supporting the community is a way to give back, it's a learning experience, it strengthens the community, promotes personal growth and self–esteem, it
brings people together, it makes you feel good, it's an investment to the area you work and live and most importantly it allows you to make a difference.

Online Community
After searching through various online communities, I finally found one that looked very interesting and informative to me, fitness.com. I chose an
online community in which I would not only gain helpful information and advice, but I could also communicate with people who are interested in
the same topic as I am. I knew right away that it was a community rather than just a typical webpage that someone had made. A community has
places where people can post messages on a discussion board, a chat room for people to talk instantly to one another, and a place where people can go
to anytime of the day to post messages. The site was available for anyone that was interested in fitness or nutrition facts. The online...show more

There were also articles that would help anyone with the questions they have about nutrition and/or fitness. They gave out important information for
almost every topic. I looked up a particular article titled, "Advantages through Fitness Training." It stated that injuries can be prevented through fitness
activity and it even motivated me to go to UREC, (the campus gym,) that day. Many other articles were also helpful, especially about nutrition. The Fit
Tips also provided me with quick little health and fitness advice and information, which helped me to remember certain things about fitness and
nutrition.
Although there were many advantages to the articles, test, and fit tips, there were some disadvantages to the online community. The different discussion
boards were not very useful. At times, people would mock those who were asking serious questions and looking for serious advice. Occasionally,
people would respond with helpful information, but not very often. A lot of the things people said were repetitive and not worth the time reading it.
When I posted a question on the Nutrition Board, I did not get positive feedback at all. One guy called me a moron, and another person told me
things that I knew already. Being called a moron did not make me want to continue going to the site. It showed that some people do not respect others

Introduction We hear the word "Community" throughout life from secondary to post secondary education. We didn't think that community can be
defined in such a broad term. In this Community Immersion assignment, I was able to expand my knowledge of "What is a community and who are
its key players?" Netting, Kettner, McMurtry and Thomas (2008) states that communities refer to "space, people, interaction and shared identity" (p.
132); it is not just focused on your geographical place. Warren expressed that, "one of the most cited definitions of community as an organization of
social activities that affords people access to what is necessary for day–to–day living, such as the grocery store, school, hospital, house of worship, and
other such social units and systems" (p. 132). The social gathering of the community is to offer the stepping stone for human survival. There are five
key functions identified by Warren (1978): production, distribution and consumption; socialization; social control; social participation; and mutual
support. Social Workers must understand alternative perspectives, recognize the assumptions and values that undergrid these views, and understand
how differing perspectives influence change opportunities (Gamble & Weil, 2010). Waxahachie, the county seat ofEllis County, will be analyzed from a
descriptive based perspective of the systems theory and in assessing a macro social work practice.

Abstract
Community engagement is the process by which the community benefits organization and individual to get the whole organization to involved in
whatever they doing. According to Rosie Niven, 2013 stated that community engagement is about creating the permanent relationship for the purpose

program becomes effectual.

Community Essay: A Community Analysis
For my topic, I was troubled on what to choose, since there was so much an African–American female of this country can write about. After much
deliberation, I have decided to write about my community essay about the violence in Oakland's community. There was plenty about this community
that I had to take out for my community essay so I decided for my reflection, the one thing that I would have change or even added to it, was to give
more background information about what lead me to write about Oakland and the stories that inspired my essay.
With the increase in crimes, it is important that a system is put into place in order to reduce the problems. One of the most shocking stories in
Oakland was, according to ABC7 news "2 arrests were made...show more content...
Since I live alone, not only I would feel terrible if I had to harm someone in self–defense but also I would feel terrible for those who can't defend
themselves. Moreover, as a resident, I feel that it is my duty to inform the public and those in power of the effects their actions are causing. Through
the research I put in the community essay, I feel that I have accomplished some of my duty yet not all. Oakland has a long way to go because the crime
rates are not going away. According to the Bay Area homicides 2016, a map with details on Oakland showed the year with 70 murders. "Out of the
70 people, two of them were minors 16 years old the majority of them range from age eighteen to thirty. One tragedy was, on the 25th of February
2017, a 25 year–old male, who had graduated from Cal State University Northridge, was murder." This is something that should not be common; it
should never have happened.
Moreover, what I regret not doing in my community essay is making it more powerful to its readers, pushing them to action. This will not stop at
Oakland, it will infect the other communities that it surrounds and the future generations. After discovering these things, I noticed the areas where
majority of the crimes accrued, I found that these areas had a substantial amount of homeless and unemployed residents. Unfortunately, the ones who
reside in these areas are the people who are impacted the most. This must be a fearful way to live your life,

The Community
The laws of the government and regulations of the state should be followed accordingly. There will be equal opportunities for everyone throughout
their lifetime as long as they meet the requirements for those opportunities. People who qualify and will do the best for the community will head the

The idea of the separate woman and man could be minimal if equal opportunities are given and the community makes it more of an equal world.
Keeping the community in order requires official people to make rational decisions for the good of the people and to get the community involved with
some decisions. The community's government will make the decisions, but the people have the right to question them if they are unjust. The
government of the community will consist of twelve people. There will be ten representatives which all of the propositions go through and two head
representatives that make the final decisions. The public votes on the ten representatives who fit the qualifications, concentrating on who will best
serve the people. The two head representatives must also fit the qualifications and are voted on by the ten representatives. The main purpose of the
government, as noted in Thomas Jefferson's "The Declaration of Independence", is to protect the rights of the people. He believes that everyone has the
rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Jefferson also believed that the people have the right to alter or abolish anything that they feel is a
violation of their deserved rights. The government is not established to just be higher beings, but to keep the community in harmony, make sure the
people's rights are protected, and to see that justice is served to the best of their ability. Free will is the main purpose of living in

What is a Community? Essay example
A community is established when more than two people share the same values and through time this personal connection evolves into a fellowship
governed by rituals, traditions, and a particular form of communication that when taken together makes a group of individuals whether living in a
specific geographical area or connected by ideals so distinct that their distinguishing marks allow them to stand out from among the crowd. They do not
just believe in something like an organization but they need each other to survive and thrive. A good example is the Old OrderAmish Mennonite

Communities are affected, and in a sense defined by, forces that affect community members and their space. The forces can range from outside
organizations such as the government and large corporations ... These components of the community vary infinitely, and thus no two communities are
the same; even a given community is not the same over time (Cnaan & Milofsky, p. 1)
Based on this definition it is interesting to note that the Old Order Amish Mennoite community satisfies the requirements of place, interests and
communion. Aside from being a perfect example of a community the Amish people exemplify what it means to be a part of a community that it is their
source of identity, strength, and sustainability. Each individual exists for the community but as a whole the community nurtures each member and
therefore it is unthinkable for an Amish man or woman to leave their community behind. On the other hand many Americans feel they must "get
involved." In public life as well as in private, we can discern the habits that sustain individualism and commitment as well as what makes them
problematic. (Bellah, p.74) For the Amish Mennonite community the purpose of the community is very clear. First, it provides them a sense of
identity, not only who they are as of the present but also helps them to trace their origins and the reason for their

Communities can be found everywhere and can be created anywhere. You may be unaware of it, but you are part of acommunity not only based on

Observing others' behaviors lets one realize and understand more about different types and kinds of people. Seeing how certain groups or communities
act or react to situations lets us see more perspective and hopefully appreciate their point of view. It is important to be part of communities for much of
the same reason. When you are part of a group, you understand and compromise with the other members of the group. Discussing issues involving the
community helps to lead to solutions. Talking things through with other members improves social skills as well as relationships. Knowing how people
feel about certain issues let you know more about that person, and in turn, you learn more about yourself. Hearing what other people have to say may
sway your own opinions about something. For example, maybe you are part of a church you thought you really believed in, but hearing the discussions
at the church meetings you start to think that you do not belong in this community. Though that specific church may be the right place for many, you
learn that you need a new church community. Churches are communities because the members are unified in their common beliefs. These communities
are like families because the members support and help each other religiously and they feel secure. Being a sound part of a community, you should
continuously learn more and more about yourself. As a member of a club, taking part in meetings and activities let you learn

Community
When community comes to mind, it reminds me of my own residence of living which encompasses the people, the parks, the REC centers and so on.
But if the deeper meaning of community is searched, it seems to be more specific than just theses things.
For example, there are communities that separate themselves from the rest of society and are distinguished by certain characteristics of mannerisms.
Some of these groups could be considered cults, certain ethnic groups, religious groups or even the "class" that one belongs to. A college could even
be considered as a form of community from a certain aspect. These are the things that separate us as...show more content...
Another example is religion. Religion in itself is considered a community simply because of the fact that people congregate together with a certain
belief system and they practice or show that belief through religion. Each religious group has activities, picnics, bake sales, etc., and do these things
to either draw others into their community or to simply enjoy themselves in an area where they feel comfortable being with others of similar feelings
or thoughts. Either way, some people feel a need to be involved with a religious community group in the same way that others like to be involved in a
gambling group. It's the way that it makes people feel and how they can express themselves or feel comfortable within that community setting.
There are other communities that are also easy to distinguish from each other and that is the upper, middle, and lower classes. The community settings
for these people can be very diverse when it comes to material settings or belongings, but the sense of community is still similar to others. It is stated

What do you think about your neighbours? How do you feel about your schools? What do you think about your community? Community has always

households and this results in many different views on communities. The many definitions of our community may include our home, our heritage, and
even our religion. First, community is our "home." We have been living in a community ever since we were just little babies and it has always

Reflective Essay About A Community

  • 1. Reflective Essay About A Community What do you think of when you hear about a community? My first thought was that a community had to be a small group of people that share a common interest, but why can't a community be a large group of people with things in common? I understand it can be. A community can be a large or small quantity of people that have any one thing in common. When I hear the word community, I see various of images. I see numerous numbers of people with such a variety, but coming together as one with commonalities. So, when I was asked to write about a community in my life I had no idea how to choose my topic, there is so many options, however, when we were assigned to read the article "Beyond the Pleasure Principle" written by Ann Hulbert I got my inspiration to write about my generation because I do believe my generation stands out from the past generations....show more content... While there are hundreds of countries filled with people in my generation I want to focus mainly on the people in my generation that I grew up with because many of the people can relate to them. Generation z is one whole generation filled with millions of young adult just starting their lives, in spite of that, I still thing of my generation as a community of people that interact on an every day bases. My generation also known as "generation z" is a community of people typically born between 1995 to 2012 that share many things in common, but one significant thing is that we all grew up in the same world around the same time. Just in this area alone there are thousands of us who interact with each other every day. I feel that generation z has seen drastic changes in technology and education in recent years. Theses significant changes have altered how generation z and future generations will live their Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. The Role of Community in Society Essay The Role of Community in Society Communities are an essential part of our society, because we all depend and interact with each other. Communities are groups of people that help an individual to learn and develop new ideas. A society is where people's relations with each other are direct and personal and where a complex web of ties link people in mutual bonds of emotion and obligation. The idea of community has provided a model to contrast to the emergence of more modern less personal societies where cultural, economic and technological transformations have uprooted tradition and where complexity has created a less personal and more rationalized and goal directed...show more content... When governments view themselves as centralized command centers overseeing national life and development, neither citizen initiative nor partnership can become significant forces in overcoming poverty and addressing social problems. Today, governments are beginning to conceive of their role and their functions in more facilitative and enabling terms, asking which functions do they need to perform and which can they share with other segments of society. In a time of increasing demand for good governance, governments see the need to perform a more focused role more efficiently and competently. To achieve this, they need to establish working partnerships with both the private sector and the civil society sector to solve social problems and reduce economic inequities. In countries where it is feasible, additional public resources need to be raised for such social development efforts. For a tri–sector strategy to fully succeed, the newly emerging civil society sector in many countries requires strengthening and support. National laws and practices need to be revised to create an enabling framework for a flourishing, independent civil society sector. The sector needs training and capacity–building to help it to perform its major functions effectively and accountably and to Get more content on HelpWriting.net

COMMENT ON YOUTH, CULTURE AND POSTCODE RIVALRY IN INNER CITY LONDON Community has been described and interpreted in different ways. It has been explained by different people in their own understanding and views. The concept of community could be associated with the beliefs, culture and interests. On occasions, people discover that they belong to diverse groups with special interests that make them members to these communities. There are instances when a group of people who live in different land space or geographical zone. On occasions, there have been people with a collective voice in different mapped out areas of the world. This may be as a result of migration. An example is when an Asian couple migrates from their birth place in Bombay, India and decides to settle in the United Kingdom. When the family broadens with children, it encourages diversity of society in life of the younger generation. Language, food, religion and other beliefs in India are introduced to the children, even though they reside in the United Kingdom. • 4. Community Scholarship Essay A young person should strive to support their local community for various reasons. Engaging in community service provides people with the opportunity to become active members of their community and has a lasting, positive impact on society at large. Community service and volunteerism enables one to acquire life skills and knowledge, as well as provide a service to those who need it most. Supporting the community is a way to give back, it's a learning experience, it strengthens the community, promotes personal growth and self–esteem, it brings people together, it makes you feel good, it's an investment to the area you work and live and most importantly it allows you to make a difference. I have been able to develop real–world skills that has helped me to succeed both in school and at home. • 5. Online Community Essay Online Community After searching through various online communities, I finally found one that looked very interesting and informative to me, fitness.com. I chose an online community in which I would not only gain helpful information and advice, but I could also communicate with people who are interested in the same topic as I am. I knew right away that it was a community rather than just a typical webpage that someone had made. A community has places where people can post messages on a discussion board, a chat room for people to talk instantly to one another, and a place where people can go to anytime of the day to post messages. The site was available for anyone that was interested in fitness or nutrition facts. The online...show more content... There were also articles that would help anyone with the questions they have about nutrition and/or fitness. They gave out important information for almost every topic. I looked up a particular article titled, "Advantages through Fitness Training." It stated that injuries can be prevented through fitness activity and it even motivated me to go to UREC, (the campus gym,) that day. Many other articles were also helpful, especially about nutrition. The Fit Tips also provided me with quick little health and fitness advice and information, which helped me to remember certain things about fitness and nutrition. Although there were many advantages to the articles, test, and fit tips, there were some disadvantages to the online community. The different discussion boards were not very useful. At times, people would mock those who were asking serious questions and looking for serious advice. Occasionally, people would respond with helpful information, but not very often. A lot of the things people said were repetitive and not worth the time reading it. When I posted a question on the Nutrition Board, I did not get positive feedback at all. One guy called me a moron, and another person told me things that I knew already. Being called a moron did not make me want to continue going to the site. It showed that some people do not respect others when they are trying to be serious and receive Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Introduction We hear the word "Community" throughout life from secondary to post secondary education. We didn't think that community can be defined in such a broad term. In this Community Immersion assignment, I was able to expand my knowledge of "What is a community and who are its key players?" Netting, Kettner, McMurtry and Thomas (2008) states that communities refer to "space, people, interaction and shared identity" (p. 132); it is not just focused on your geographical place. Warren expressed that, "one of the most cited definitions of community as an organization of social activities that affords people access to what is necessary for day–to–day living, such as the grocery store, school, hospital, house of worship, and other such social units and systems" (p. 132). The social gathering of the community is to offer the stepping stone for human survival. There are five key functions identified by Warren (1978): production, distribution and consumption; socialization; social control; social participation; and mutual support. Social Workers must understand alternative perspectives, recognize the assumptions and values that undergrid these views, and understand how differing perspectives influence change opportunities (Gamble & Weil, 2010). Waxahachie, the county seat ofEllis County, will be analyzed from a descriptive based perspective of the systems theory and in assessing a macro social work practice. II. • 7. Essay On Community Communities Dear Local Politicians of North Carolina, The North Carolina/ U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD, 2017), needs to provide Community Centers for and be more concerned about the poor in Raleigh North Carolina. Out of the 458,880–people living in Raleigh North Carolina, more than sixteen percent of this population is in poverty. The poverty rate for Raleigh North Carolina increased by a whopping ninety seven percent; now Raleigh is placed third for poverty growth nationally. (Browder, 2017). According to the analysis of census data, the number of Raleigh residents living in poverty nearly doubled from 2000 to 2012. (Browder, 2017). Although there are shelters for the homeless provided in Raleigh, there should also be...show more content... These groups of people need to be in a nice, safe, positive environment while participating in the sporting activities in order for this method of crime prevention to be effective. The Community Centers; which should be provided to help the well–being of the community; will provide the ideal location and have the equipment needed to make Raleigh North Carolina safe. Providing sport and physical activity to those who are in need has the potential to improve the quality of life; it could essentially distract these groups of people from the temptations to use drugs, alcohol, and physical violence which not only harms the person using the substances and committing the crimes, but also harms the surrounding community. Community Centers are recreational organization's that not only provide sport, but also provide uniforms for the participants who play the sports. Providing the poor and homeless with a uniform not only gives them extra clothing but it provides them with a sense of belonging, support, and loyalty. ("Poverty, Race/Ethnicity, and Psychiatric Disorder: A Study of Rural Children, 2017). Making these groups of people feel like they belong will better the entire community and will reduce suicide rates. Providing a uniform and a supportive team could change these people's lives. Since the Community Centers will be open to everyone, it will be very beneficial for the poor and homeless to interact with people of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Essay On Community Engagement Abstract Community engagement is the process by which the community benefits organization and individual to get the whole organization to involved in whatever they doing. According to Rosie Niven, 2013 stated that community engagement is about creating the permanent relationship for the purpose of the community. It is also by applying a positive and exiting collective vision for the community in order to make their area a better place to live in. the important goal here is to actively engage the individual with the same views and the individual must an enthusiasm, interest and have the passion for what they do. • 9. Community Essay: A Community Analysis For my topic, I was troubled on what to choose, since there was so much an African–American female of this country can write about. After much deliberation, I have decided to write about my community essay about the violence in Oakland's community. There was plenty about this community that I had to take out for my community essay so I decided for my reflection, the one thing that I would have change or even added to it, was to give more background information about what lead me to write about Oakland and the stories that inspired my essay. With the increase in crimes, it is important that a system is put into place in order to reduce the problems. One of the most shocking stories in Oakland was, according to ABC7 news "2 arrests were made...show more content... Since I live alone, not only I would feel terrible if I had to harm someone in self–defense but also I would feel terrible for those who can't defend themselves. Moreover, as a resident, I feel that it is my duty to inform the public and those in power of the effects their actions are causing. Through the research I put in the community essay, I feel that I have accomplished some of my duty yet not all. Oakland has a long way to go because the crime rates are not going away. According to the Bay Area homicides 2016, a map with details on Oakland showed the year with 70 murders. "Out of the 70 people, two of them were minors 16 years old the majority of them range from age eighteen to thirty. One tragedy was, on the 25th of February 2017, a 25 year–old male, who had graduated from Cal State University Northridge, was murder." This is something that should not be common; it should never have happened. Moreover, what I regret not doing in my community essay is making it more powerful to its readers, pushing them to action. This will not stop at Oakland, it will infect the other communities that it surrounds and the future generations. After discovering these things, I noticed the areas where majority of the crimes accrued, I found that these areas had a substantial amount of homeless and unemployed residents. Unfortunately, the ones who reside in these areas are the people who are impacted the most. This must be a fearful way to live your life, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Essay on The Community The Community The laws of the government and regulations of the state should be followed accordingly. There will be equal opportunities for everyone throughout their lifetime as long as they meet the requirements for those opportunities. People who qualify and will do the best for the community will head the community. The society is based on free will as long as the rules are followed and no one is harmed. The rules and regulations set are to protect the people of the society in order for a safe and harmonious community. Having a harmonious community requires equal opportunities for everyone. The idea of the separate woman and man could be minimal if equal opportunities are given and the community makes it more of an equal world. Keeping the community in order requires official people to make rational decisions for the good of the people and to get the community involved with some decisions. The community's government will make the decisions, but the people have the right to question them if they are unjust. The government of the community will consist of twelve people. There will be ten representatives which all of the propositions go through and two head representatives that make the final decisions. The public votes on the ten representatives who fit the qualifications, concentrating on who will best serve the people. The two head representatives must also fit the qualifications and are voted on by the ten representatives. The main purpose of the government, as noted in Thomas Jefferson's "The Declaration of Independence", is to protect the rights of the people. He believes that everyone has the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Jefferson also believed that the people have the right to alter or abolish anything that they feel is a violation of their deserved rights. The government is not established to just be higher beings, but to keep the community in harmony, make sure the people's rights are protected, and to see that justice is served to the best of their ability. • 11. What is a Community? Essay example A community is established when more than two people share the same values and through time this personal connection evolves into a fellowship governed by rituals, traditions, and a particular form of communication that when taken together makes a group of individuals whether living in a specific geographical area or connected by ideals so distinct that their distinguishing marks allow them to stand out from among the crowd. They do not just believe in something like an organization but they need each other to survive and thrive. The forces can range from outside organizations such as the government and large corporations ... These components of the community vary infinitely, and thus no two communities are the same; even a given community is not the same over time (Cnaan & Milofsky, p. 1) Based on this definition it is interesting to note that the Old Order Amish Mennoite community satisfies the requirements of place, interests and communion. Aside from being a perfect example of a community the Amish people exemplify what it means to be a part of a community that it is their source of identity, strength, and sustainability. Each individual exists for the community but as a whole the community nurtures each member and therefore it is unthinkable for an Amish man or woman to leave their community behind. On the other hand many Americans feel they must "get involved." In public life as well as in private, we can discern the habits that sustain individualism and commitment as well as what makes them problematic. (Bellah, p.74) For the Amish Mennonite community the purpose of the community is very clear. First, it provides them a sense of identity, not only who they are as of the present but also helps them to trace their origins and the reason for their Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The school and community I will be focusing on, is located in South Los Angeles near the Gilbert Lindsay Community Center Park. Since I did not receive approval to use specific names for this school and its faculty members, I will be addressing this middle school as Titan Middle School. For instance, one of the organizations this school has partnered up with is the Woodcraft Rangers. This organization provides after school activities, which include homework assistance, outdoor activities, and clubs. All of which the children residing in this community can benefit from. Another community resource is the UCLACollege Center, the school created on their campus that provides tutoring and classes for students and their parents. This school has also partnered up with GRYD, which stands for Gang Reduction & Youth Development. This organization serves the students, as well as the community, by providing counseling services to students and their families, in order to diminish gang activity within this community. The list goes on and on, I could not keep up with all the partnerships this school has created with outside organizations. From the start of these partnership to today, the environment surrounding this community is slowly but surely shifting towards a positive outcome. Observing others' behaviors lets one realize and understand more about different types and kinds of people. Seeing how certain groups or communities act or react to situations lets us see more perspective and hopefully appreciate their point of view. It is important to be part of communities for much of the same reason. When you are part of a group, you understand and compromise with the other members of the group. Discussing issues involving the community helps to lead to solutions. Talking things through with other members improves social skills as well as relationships. Knowing how people feel about certain issues let you know more about that person, and in turn, you learn more about yourself. Hearing what other people have to say may sway your own opinions about something. For example, maybe you are part of a church you thought you really believed in, but hearing the discussions at the church meetings you start to think that you do not belong in this community. Though that specific church may be the right place for many, you learn that you need a new church community. Churches are communities because the members are unified in their common beliefs. These communities are like families because the members support and help each other religiously and they feel secure. Being a sound part of a community, you should continuously learn more and more about yourself. I enjoy underdog stories, fantasy/sci–fi (although I struggle with high tech stories), anything with odd/quirky/atypical characters, mythology, unlikely love stories, magical realism, and coming of age stuff. I can roll with either well–plotted stuff, or a looser narrative, but I like to have a goal in mind when I start something. I enjoy many of the same elements as you do, especially twists on mainstream concepts, exploration, and connection. I'm also fond of rebellion, humor, and overcoming insurmountable odds/challenges. I do stumble a bit, though, when it comes to eroticism because I haven't dabbled in it very much. Religion in itself is considered a community simply because of the fact that people congregate together with a certain belief system and they practice or show that belief through religion. Each religious group has activities, picnics, bake sales, etc., and do these things to either draw others into their community or to simply enjoy themselves in an area where they feel comfortable being with others of similar feelings or thoughts. Either way, some people feel a need to be involved with a religious community group in the same way that others like to be involved in a gambling group. It's the way that it makes people feel and how they can express themselves or feel comfortable within that community setting. There are other communities that are also easy to distinguish from each other and that is the upper, middle, and lower classes. The community settings for these people can be very diverse when it comes to material settings or belongings, but the sense of community is still similar to others. Community has always been a big part of our lives and it has been here since the day we were born. We might even live on the same street, but we grow up in different households and this results in many different views on communities. The many definitions of our community may include our home, our heritage, and even our religion. First, community is our "home." Individuality vs. Community Communities Filled With Unique Individuals There are many people in the world who go out of their way to make themselves more unique and more of an individual, as well as people who will do anything to just be a part of a crowd or a community. Is it possible for an individual to be strictly an individual and not a member of a community, or visa versa? Although everyone is their own person, and has their own unique personality, thoughts, and beliefs, we are all a part of a community, whether that means the town we live in, the common interests we share with others, or the family we were born into. Baldwin soon realizes that no matter where you go you face identity conflicts. Although Baldwin wanted more than anything to be a unique individual and not a part of a community, he could not. I personally think a lot of people have a problem on where they belong in life and who they are. I for instance can relate. When I was in Junior High I had a problem fitting in and knowing who I was. I had friends, but I was not a part of the popular group, so I felt that I was no one special. I felt like I was an outcast, a very unique individual and just wanted to fit in with the cool kids. Unfortunately there is not a whole lot you can do at that age to fit in, because you are in that awkward puberty stage, but I could not realize that at the time. So right before my eighth grade year, I decided to try out for the cheerleading team, in hopes Get more content on HelpWriting.net
