ARE INDIA'S MAIN HIGHWAYS, CONNECTED ALL OF THE CITIES
AND STATES ROAD.
5. GREEN COLOUR STRIP MILESTONE ON ROAD
IF THERE IS A GREEN STRIP ON THE SIDE OF
THE ROAD, YOU ARE TRAVELLING ON A STATE
HIGHWAY.
6. BLACK, BLUE OR WHITE COLOUR STRIP
MILESTONE ON ROAD
IF YOU COME ACROSS A ROAD SIDE MILESTONE
WITH A BLACK, BLUE OR WHITE STRIP, IT IS
UNDERSTOOD THAT YOU TRAVELLING IN A CITY
OR ON A DISTRICT ROAD.
7. ORANGE COLOUR STRIP MILESTONE ON ROAD
IF YOU SEE AN ORANGE STRIP ON THE SIDE OF
THE ROAD, YOU ARE TRAVELLING ON RURAL
ROAD.
10. Broken White Line
The most basic marking on Indian roads
used to mark the middle of two lanes to separate traffic on both
direction.
It means you may change lanes and are allowed to overtake a
vehicle or take a U-turn if situation permits
11. Hazard Warning Line
A single broken line on the road with long
markings and short gaps, is a warning line.
This is to give warning of a hazard ahead.

Basically seen on areas of strategic importance, these imply that you
are not allowed to overtake the car in front of you and should drive in

13. Single Solid Yellow Line

14. Double Solid Yellow Lines
Usually used on dangerous roads due to low visibility or 2 lane
roads
It strictly prohibits anybody from crossing over into the lane
with traffic going in the opposite direction.
15. Stop Line
This is marked before the pedestrian crossing and sets
the deadline where cars should stop before the traffic
signal.
16. Yellow Broken Line
You can pass or overtake the line but you need to be
cautious. You can cross that line for overtaking as well
as taking a turn.
