Qtudenrs at Oak Creek High School will
)get their chance to shine in a Talent
Revue to be presented this weekend at
the school.
^ Former studentJim Cech,.a disc jockey
from 99.1 FM, and Chad Zimmet^at,ã
disc jockey from 106.9 FM, will cohost
the revue, which will be held in the gym.
Eighteen acts featuring dancing, singing,
instrumentals, comedy and more will be
presented at 7:jO p.m. Saturday and 2
p.m. Sunday.
Principal Kathy Jorgenson recognized
an unlimited amount of talent in the stu-
dents and felt a need to start this event
and create some new úaditions. JÒrgen-
son's prior position as a dance teacher
more than likely influenced her decision
to develop the program.
"I know principals ãon't normally do
this, but I miss this.I like working wirh rhe
kids," she said.
The Talent Revue is intended to give
the students an opportunity to show tñeir
abilities on stage and to support the high
school's Spirit Club, developed last year.
Funds raised at theTalent Revue will go to
the Spirit Club, which will distribute rhem
to other school clubs and organizations.
the groups put a wish list together as
to where they would like their share of
the funds to be dispensed.
"All (the groups) have ro do is pitch in
and help with the organization,"Jorgenson
said.
OAK CREEK
Kathleen Kasianowicz, a speech and
drama teacher, is in charge of the stage
and sound for the show. Kasianowið2,
recalling a scholarship talent show in
1982, said she is delighted that Jorgenson
developed this program to enable the stu-
dents to show their talent outside the
classroom.
"It's good to show different facets that
our students havei she said.
Kasianowicz said she is especially
thrilled that Jim Cech, a 1992 gaduate,
will be one of the masters of ceremonies.
Since Cech graduated, he has been
speaking ro classes at the þigh schooi and
was pleased that Kasianowicz asked him
to host theTalent Reyue.
"I love Oak Creek," Cech said.,,It's kind
of an honor."
Zimmerman recognized the respect
Cech receives when visiting the school,
saying, "They trear him as if he,s the mas-
cot of the school."
Cech said the students will gain confÏ_
dence by getting up on stage and per-
forming for their peers.
"Once you see everyone scream for
you, there 's no.other feeling in thev.p$$',
he said.
