1. PUBG, A BOON OR A DOOM? – A DEBATE BASED ON
TREND RESEARCH
All sorts of video games set its standards and never go out of fashion. Especially, it has its
fan followers. Well! They are probably youngsters and kids..! However, a video game will be
lost its charisma over time, when a new game getting popped up in the market. In my
childhood days, I heard mostly about God of War, angry birds, candy crush, Pokémon Go.
People were fond of playing that. And now, it’s PUBG. First of all, what is PUBG? It is a
Player Unknown Battle Grounds. Moreover, it is a multi-player shooter game and it is
played only on mobile phones.
Are there any pros in playing PUBG? Will it impact your life positively or negatively? Is it a
boon or doom to society? The answers depend upon the playing users and non-playing
users. Before coming to this Q&A part, certain sights might disturb us a lot. We could see
people playing this game in a very keen manner, such that they almost forgot the
surroundings. Even on a crowded train, they are very much fond of playing this game.

2. Impact in Nationwide
In India, Millichronicle reports that Gujarat banned this game and the proposal is
raised for banning the game all over the country. A heavy drop in the academic level of
children who could not handle this addiction is the major reason. They made a comparative
analysis before and after PUBG and found the above analysis, which is a serious impact on
kids as well as their parents. Furthermore, youngsters are posed to serious psychological
problems like stress, loneliness, violence, short temper, etc. In addition to this, there is a
drastic change in their behavior towards family and most importantly no sense of
responsibilities from their side.
Current Ph.D. Researches
Recently, there are so many PhD research topics that are done based on psychosocial
impacts on PUBG in India. One such research paper “The Psychosocial Impact of Extreme
Gaming on Indian PUBG Gamers: the Case of PUBG” – analyzed many psycho-social related
issues and provided as a survey. Another PhD research paper “Internet gaming disorder in
children and adolescents” – provides a systematic review of children who are the victims of
IGD – ‘Internet Gaming Disorder’. Upon seeing those observations, there are some shock
results on how these games are stringent to this society.
In fact, WHO states that playing a game is often recognized as a real mental disorder.
Finally, to conclude this topic and provide justification of the same, ‘Yes’ it is a boon for the
founder of the game and ‘doom’ for the society. The government should take serious steps
to prevent the younger generation from this evil-deadly game.
