1. English Final Exam

Answer the following Questions.1
1. State the main points highlighted by the speaker. (20 up to 30 seconds
maximum)
In this video, the speaker, who’s basically an educator, touch on the optimal
path to go above success and reach excellence. He pointed out that success
should start from an appropriate environment, focusing on “How & why?” we
should build a successful community instead of worrying about what has to be
done to succeed. At the end, the key, according to the speaker, is to establish
the culture of success.
2. To build a culture of success, the speaker puts the focus on three things: vision,
unity, and empowerment. To what extent you either agree or disagree with the
speaker. Try to explain your view in no more than 1 minute.
For this purpose, our educator, mark Wilson, puts the focus on three key
factors that I genuinely think they are forming the headlines and the backbone
of any strategical change. First, he talked about vision: it is absolutely clear
that we can’t move forward without purpose, In other words, the vision has to
set light on the target, so we don’t get lost on our journey to reach our point.
The second key factor is Unity, where there is unity there is strength, so people
may achieve big results when they come together with a common vision that
every individual believes in and try his best to make his own mark. Last but
not least, empowerment: every individual must have the ability to take an
action, at the end big changes come from small actions.

3. It came in the speaker’s words that their school determined what they wanted
to be. He said, “We wanted to be a place of students’ success”. Drawing on
your experience with schools in general, have you ever felt that your schools
are (or at least can be considered) places of success? (Consolidate your
arguments with examples) (1,5 min max)
Honestly, for a moment while watching this video, I wondered to what extent
our schools, can be places for success? The answer, based on my experience, it
is a yes. Certainly, not a better place than Morgan county high school as it
seem, but still they have no much left to correct to reach the best version of
Morgan’s Model. Taking “ LyDex- Benguerir” set an example for a successful
educational institution, I genuinely believe, that the high scores they get both
in Moroccan or French to access higher institutions and engineering schools,
is due to that success mindset and excellence culture already esstablished.
However, Lydex maybe just the one, or one of two typical institutions that
could be considered as a place of success on all standards unfortunately. In
brief, to have more “Successful” schools, we should follow Mr Wilson
instructions, especially we should join forces and collaborate to create the
atmosphere we need for success where “all for one and one for all”, just like
the story of Nick at the end of the video which illustrates how “Success’ can be
more than a goal but a way of life, and how positive vibes can be contagious
between individuals with common vision. Nick’s story for me is wonderful
example of “ recognition culture “ as an essential parameter of success culture
4. At the end of the lecture, the speaker tells the story of Nick. What is the
rationale behind such a story? (30 seconds max)
5. In the light of the lecture, what kind of vision could you come up with for your
institute (ENSMR) to enjoy a culture of success if you were asked to do so?
(Think of practical ideas) (1,5 maximum).
When it come to my institution, I think that we have all necessary ingredients
of a typical engineering school, but things still a little bit blurry since our

vision isn’t clear enough. In other words, ENSMR’s atmosphere is extremely
suitable to establish a culture of success according to Mr Wilson definition,
taking into consideration all the creativity areas we’ve, and all that pride in
belonging students have towards our School. However, we lack an effective
framework and we lack some organization. So, we must take some actions to
reconsider the traditional way we take lessons by involving both students and
educators in schooling process. Moreover, we have to invest more in our
materials and providing students with all necessary equipments that will be
helpful to bring to reality their innovative ideas.
