History of Magazines In Europe: • The Review, the first political magazine appeared in London in 1704 • Edited by Daniel Defoe, Printed sporadically until 1713 Other magazines from this time • Tatler, Spectator, Gentleman’s Magazine In America: 1741: Andrew Bradford published American Magazine. A few days later, Ben Franklin published General Magazine . Both failed (63 percent of all new magazines fail to survive their first year)
