We need Sometimes to set programs in a certain way, depending on where we work
(office, company or organization) to serve us in the final results and outputs. Revit
provide us with a model or a template we use in any designed project by the office or the
company. The meaning of template is defining a set of actions and commands that we
use continuously at the beginning of any new project as follows:


 Specifying the different measurement units through Project Units, specifying the
snap settings.
 Specifying the type of used schedules (for example columns, beams, slabs, etc)
 Defining fixed values of the common levels which are used in a particular type of
projects ,naming them and numbering them (base level, basement level, ground
level, first floor level ... and so on)
 Defining the loading cases and download groups which we always download in
any project
 Defining the different types of plans (such as structural plans, architectural plans,
analytical models views, analytical perspective, etc.)
 Creating view templates for user so that there is no need to change detail level,
scale, or visual style for each new project.
 Defining the sheets that we need in each project (such as axes, columns, floor
sheet etc.), and determining the size of each panel and the location of the
company logo.


As noted from all the above points, these layouts do not require drawing the model
because it is considered a work environment that we prepare to suit the way we work on
any project and we should avoid the elements that can cause unnecessary increase in
template size. We should also note that the template file has an extension rte and not rtv
as in the normal Revit project. Making a library of company elements is one of the greet
ideas in the projects management and also specifying the first letter of each
specialization to clarify the system type, which helps in organizing the work, for example:

This program appeared in 1976 when A Vinos Marcel Dassault (3) produced a
program to assist in aircrafts manufacture. It was later developed to assist in
manufacture of cars and ships. It was then sold to IBM Company to be the owner of

fields, including architecture by architect Frank Gerry.

Well what is the most appropriate format for exchange between programs?
Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) is an information model for describing the
information of construction industry.
It is a neutral platform and open specification for file format that is not controlled
by a single company or group of companies. It is very important to transfer the
model among the different programs that adopt the BIM system and the body

General instructions for Modeling by BIM:
 If we use precast or prefabricated in design, we place it as an element.
 Elements must be created with their correct tools, such as Wall tool, Slab
tool, Column tool ... etc. If any defect is found, it must be corrected quickly
because of its significant negative effect in advanced stages.
 2D can be used for standard details to complete the BIM model.
 2D can be used to complete the BIM model when the elements are
smaller than the agreed size, for example, elements smaller than 100 mm
should not be included in the model.
 We should make all the floor elements separate from the next floor and
avoid continuing walls and columns from the first floor up to the last
 We should be sure to enter always this information (Type, Material, ID,
and Size Type) because they are important to (Bills of Quantities).
 Rebar and Joint detail It is best not to make a model for the whole
building but a small model, or in CAD structure detailing

Revit provide us with a model or a template we use in any designed project by the office or the company. For Plumping & Fire fighting As noted from all the above points, these layouts do not require drawing the model because it is considered a work environment that we prepare to suit the way we work on any project and we should avoid the elements that can cause unnecessary increase in template size. We should also note that the template file has an extension rte and not rtv as in the normal Revit project. General instructions for Modeling by BIM:  If we use precast or prefabricated in design, we place it as an element.  Elements must be created with their correct tools, such as Wall tool, Slab tool, Column tool ... etc. If any defect is found, it must be corrected quickly because of its significant negative effect in advanced stages.  2D can be used for standard details to complete the BIM model.  2D can be used to complete the BIM model when the elements are smaller than the agreed size, for example, elements smaller than 100 mm should not be included in the model.  We should make all the floor elements separate from the next floor and avoid continuing walls and columns from the first floor up to the last  We should be sure to enter always this information (Type, Material, ID, and Size Type) because they are important to (Bills of Quantities).  Rebar and Joint detail It is best not to make a model for the whole building but a small model, or in CAD structure detailing
