 QUESTION: Why do you want to work for us?
 TACTIC: The intent behind this question is to measure your level
of interest in the company. Thus, Your answer must reflect passion
for the company. See an example:
I have three good reasons why I want to work for this company:
Firstly, it has always been my dream to become an investment
banker, and from a careful observation of this company as
the leader in Nigeria in this area, I believe it is the best
platform to realize my dream, while contributing to further
the success of the organisation;
Secondly, as said, I have been watching this company, and I
have been doing this in a long time. I believe in her dream as
well as in her future, and I want to be part of the team that
drives her success;
Lastly, Integrity is one of my virtues, and from my
knowledge of this organisation, I know integrity is the
watchword. This integrity-driven environment agrees with
my personality and thus makes my ideal workplace.
SAMPLE INTERVIEW QUESTION AND TACTIC
 QUESTION: Tell me about yourself/ Can we meet you/ Who is Mr. X?
 TACTIC: This is a very simple and common question, but most
candidates answer it incorrectly because they do not prepare how
exactly to tackle it. The answer is simple -it should be carved around
your education and accomplishments. Stay away from answering it
with your personality, your social life, what it was like when you were
growing up, etc. In fact, the tactic is to summarize your CV. Note the
word ‘summarize’. Do not be so detailed that the interviewer will be
the one to stop you. For example:
 My name is JACOB James, I was born 25 years ago in Lagos state. I
attended Oyemekun Grammar School in Ondo State and came out in
2006 as the 2nd best student. I thereafter proceeded to Obafemi
Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, from where I graduated with a 2nd Class
Upper honour in economics. At the university, I was the president of
the Association Economics Students. Moreover, I won a number of
scholarship awards, including the Shell & Chevron University
scholarship awards. My youth service was done in Sokoto State
between 2011 and 2012. I like writing articles and some of my articles
have been published in some National dailies such The Guardian, The
Tribune, The Sun and The Punch. During my leisure time, I play
football or watch movies.
SAMPLE INTERVIEW QUESTION AND TACTIC
QUESTION: What can you do for this company?
TACTIC: This question demands that you must have
researched the company before the interview, so as to be
familiar with the company's mission, core values, products,
management and even current affairs of the company. For
example you can say:
Having researched deeply into your company, I am well
familiar with her core values, visions and missions,
managerial styles, as well as her products, services and
current challenges. With my education, skills plus my little
but relevant experience, it won’t be too difficult for me to be
able to promote the company’s trend of growth and be part
of the team that drives her success. Sir, if you need a
candidate that can carry out the responsibilities demanded
by this position (mention the responsibilities of the job
position), then I am the one you are looking for.
