4. This is good old earth, which is habitat
of various organisms
5. Introduction
Biodiversity is the word indicates variety of life
found on earth and all the natural process.
We want to check the biodiversity of Purbachal
New Town to assume the involvement of
urbanization on biodiversity.
6. Biodiversity of Bangladesh:

7. STUDY AREA
"Purbachal New Town"
Is situated at Rupgonj Thana of Narayangonj
District and Kaligonj Thana of Gazipur District.
Between the River of Balu and Sitalakhya at a
distance of 16Km from zero point of Dhaka.
The total area of this Project is 6150 acres which is
divided into 30 sectors.
9. Environmental condition of
Purbachal New Town
Total land of this area is divided mainly in two types red
soil land & sandy land.
About 70% land of this area are untouched, 10% land are
used for cultivation which is cultivated by those people
whose are temporary live there.
In total area 35% are aquatic land.
Hillocks Biodiversity is low compare with the plain land
Total area of this project is 6150 acres and govt. target to
develop 4500 acres. 5% developmental work is completed
till July 14.
10. Aims & Objectives
To study of present status of flora of this
area.
To study on present status of fauna.
To assume the impact of developmental
works on biodiversity and socio-economic
condition of this area.
13. Results & Discussion
In our survey we found
4 mammalian species under 3 orders
20 birds species under 6 orders

23. To compare with other study animals number low
in our study area.
Its main cause its increasing
construction work.
Another cause, its sandy soil and red
soil.

29. Recommendations
Urbanized in a planned way.
Conserve some areas (forest tract, grass land, aquatic body
etc) which are totally untouched.
Never being cut some giant trees because those trees
provide support to a large number of animals and also
supportive for ecosystem.
Construct roads in planned way that it may minimize the
threats for fauna & flora, follow the traffic rules (Reduce
animal accident and save many trees).
30. Recommendations
Place in the ground for grass, besides road for decreasing dust.
Create a garden in front of each building for insects, bee,
beetle etc. making their new habitat.
Brick filed which is located beside the Sitalakkhya River must
be replaced another plane land where animal and plant number
is less.
Appointed Biologist for developing this project.
All constructer & sub constructer who are working in this
project , should be concerned about the importance of
biodiversity.
Sitalakkhya River doesn’t convert into the artificial look.
