This document defines and discusses globalization and localization. Globalization refers to the increasing interconnectivity between people worldwide through the free movement of goods, capital, services, people, technology and information. It has two main facets: the globalization of markets and the globalization of production. Localization is the process of making something specific to a particular place. It involves developing products or services in a way that localization is relatively easy to achieve. Localization anticipates local customs and practices to preserve local identities despite globalization forces.
