●The modern world is seen as the world
without geographical boundaries and any
any kind of barriers. Globalisation has been
the major force behind this.
● Globalisation is the integration of the
world economy and exchanging the ideas,
products, technologies etc.
● The globalisation hit Bangladesh late but
had huge impact on the nations economic policies and various other aspects. It is the
integration of the world economy and exchanging the ideas, products, technologies
etc.

4. Globalisation
Globalisation is the word used to describe the growing interdependence of the world’s
economies, cultures, and populations, brought about by cross-border trade in goods and
services, technology, and flows of investment, people, and information. It is the process of
international integration arising from the interchange of world views, products, ideas, and other
aspects of culture.
Countries have built economic partnerships to facilitate these movements over many
centuries.But the term gained popularity after the Cold War in the early 1990s,as these
cooperative arrangements shaped modern everyday life. This guide uses the term more
narrowly to refer to international trade and some of the investment flows among advanced
economies.
This means rapid increase in the share of economic activities taking place across national
border. It is the process of international integration arising from the interchange of world views,
products, ideas, and other aspects of culture.

connected and interdependent place. Globalization also captures in its scope the economic and
social changes that have come about as a result. It may be pictured as the threads of an immense
spider web formed over millennia with the number and reach of these threads increasing over
time. People, money, material goods, ideas, and even disease and devastation have traveled
these silken strands, and have done so in greater numbers and with greater speed than ever in the
present age.

■ Globalization refers to an increasing amount of global interconnection, especially in
business and economic activity. Some important aspects of globalization are:
• Communication: Global communications in multiple modalities are a key element of the
infrastructure of globalization. All other aspects of globalization depend on the ability of
people to communicate around the world by means such as telephone, internet, fax, and
broadcast media.
• Transportation: For goods to be shipped around the world, a transportation infrastructure,
include land, sea, and air transport and accompanying logistical systems, is needed. Just-
in-time manufacturing and complex supply chains make multinational companies
especially reliant on logistics.
• Supply Chains: A globalized economy is one in which inputs and supply chains are
sourced from around the world, taking advantage of low-cost producers and manufacturing
in low-wage countries to reduce costs.
• Markets: In a globalized economy, many products and services are sold far from where
they are produced. This allows for economies of scale in production and also creates
greater consumer choice.

role of international economic institution.
■ Political globalization: Political globalization is the intensification and expansion of
political interrelations around the globe. Aspects of political globalization include the
modern- nation state system and its changing place in today’s world, the role
of global governance, and the direction of our global political systems.
■ Ecological globalization: Topics of ecological globalization include population
growth, access to food, worldwide reduction in biodiversity, the gap between rich
and poor as well as between the global North and global South, human-induced
climate change, and global environmental degradation.

■ Impact On Sports And Recreation: Sports play an important role in the development of
international relationship. Many international sporting events are organized from time to time.
These events are telecast worldwide by satellite and people all over the world watch them live.
The sports venue becomes a meeting place of people from different countries. They come closer
to each other, sharing views, opinions and friendship. Bangladesh is also the beneficiary of this
opportunity.
■ Impact On Education: Like other developing countries of the world, Bangladesh has identified
education as the key to prosperity and progress. Donor countries are contributing to the progress
of our literacy rate and overall education. Various international organizations have responded
dramatically with their generous aid in education sector. Many non-formal schools are being run.
Meritorious students are availing themselves of the foreign study scholarship.

18. Conclusion
Through the analysis of the growth-poverty nexus in the 1980s to 1990s of Bangladesh and the
connection of globalization in this regard, this paper has concluded that globalization mostly had a
positive impact to poverty reduction in Bangladesh especially in the rural areas within 1990s.As
Globalization process helps the rural poor to find employment in salaried work.The much important
impact was indirect impact by enhancing the employment opportunities in the non-farm non-
tradable sectors.The liberalization process put forth by globalization helps the non-tradable sectors
firstly by stimulating demand for the goods and services produced by non-tradable sectors. Again
help the supply side to have better access to inputs and machinery through import liberalization.
It is true that globalization has produced a window of opportunity for more countries to join the
mainstream world economy.Through the globalization process, the world can be knit together, cross-
fertilization of culture can take place and transfer of knowledge can become a reality. It has the
hazards too and in the ultimate analysis, no country is safe from the hazards of globalization.We can
conclude by quoting the Apollo-7 astronaut, "The thing that impressed me about looking to the earth
from outer space was that the borders between countries were not visible." National borders are
virtually meaningless today.
