2. Requirement of Social Audit (Part#1)
Sometimes we should think beyond our world, where we will find many such facts and
figures which we can’t even imagine, but the major concern is that, we are so much
engaged in our self-created planet that it becomes hard to seeand think aboutthe issues
that are on rise. Most of the time we prefer neglecting it, thinking that it is not our
problem or ‘why me’!.Fromthe time, feeling of ‘why me’ overrides humanity, the gap in
society starts expanding and earth becomes just groupof people living together and not
humans living together.
Every time my visitto Uttar-Pradeshgiveme different and long lasting memories of most
unpredictable things which I could even imagine. Being the part of Audit family, it is our
duty also to reportnot only on the financials of the company but also what the statistics
of the country reflects. We as an auditor conducts audit of various companies and
proudly submits are audit report to the company which in turn present it before the
stakeholders. But my questions is-
1. Who will audit the conditions and continuous degrading situations of our country?
2. Who will take the responsibility of submitting audit reportof our economy and who
shall be accountable?
A night journey to any part of Uttar-Pradesh can bring forward various horrifying facts of
the state. People are sleeping roadside, children playing with burnt bundle of bidi, dogs
and humans sleeping aside, beggars and old people taking shelters at railway stations.
I find it quiet ironical that in our home we have different choice in breakfastand we still
are unhappy sometimes that food served is not of our taste, but during this socialaudit,
I found Lots of people, who only takes cup of tea and 2-3 biscuits as morning breakfast
and starts thereday. They work harder allthe day justto confirm their night meal. These
are daily earners and spenders whose cash book sometimes shows Rs 0 debit balance
and there balance sheet reflects Rs 0 investment but even on such daily pressurethere
face value never falls.

3. During my travelling in train from Faridabad to UP, I met a contract caterer in Indian
railway who was good at talk and his speech reflects softness. He had travelled all over
the country giving his service to the passenger.
I enquired him in curiosity-Howmuchyou earn daily?At firstinstance,he wasquiet, after
a few seconds he answered with heavy heart that his earning touch around Rs 300 per
day. I calculated his net income after asking for expense and was shocked to reach to
conclusion that he is left with only Rs 1,000 in pocket for meeting his own expense.

From this Rs 1,000 left in his pocket he has to meet his own maintenance expense,

4. Another side of Life!!

with itself.
Thetime you enter generalor sleeper section
you will be encountered with diversified
people and on seeing some of them you will
get the feel that they don’t have any goal or
purpose in life. Lying unconsciously on the
floor ofthe train or between the jointsof two
coach where a normal person gets scared of
stepping his feet.
Some of them sitting at the doors of the high speed
train with blank faces as if they would commit suicide
at any time. On serious node, if you have an analytical
power, you will definitely have soft corner for such
people but couldn’t do anything.
5. The condition of general coach are such that you
can’t even think of steeping due to huge crowd. It
sometimes look like coach of sheep’s and goat’s-
one on another.
