BACKGROUND
AND
RATIONALE
DepEd Memorandum No. 173 s. 2019, Hamon; Bawat Bata Bumabasa (3Bs
Initiatives) has committed to make every learner a reader by engaging partners and
stakeholders to promote the culture of reading. Brigada Pagbasa is one of the
innovations under the Brigada Eskwela 2021 which is a nationwide reading movement
for the Filipino children and will serve as a platform to synergize efforts and resources
to address education-related challenges on literacy and numeracy.
In relation to this, the proposal of community library as a response to the said
innovation has been crafted. The said community library will serve as the reading hub
for volunteer tutors and learners. It is designed to raise awareness on the importance
of reading to the community at large. This program also adheres to promote
volunteerism which is the primary aim of Brigada Eskwela. With partnership from local
officials especially the SK Chairman and SK Officials, and help from other volunteers,
this project will be accomplished.
OBJECTIVES To uplift the spirit of volunteerism among partners and stakeholders.
To raise awareness on the importance of reading to the community.
