2. Introduction
YSENs (York Special Educational Needs) is a project set up within
the 2018/2019 School of Languages and Linguistics atYSJ as part
of the 2ndYear Language atWork Module.
WithYEAL (York English as an Additional Language) and
YESOL (York English to Speakers of Other Languages) already
established, we felt that there was an opportunity for our students
to further help support a diverse range of people currently living in
the local community, more specifically children and young people
with special educational needs.

6. What to do
given the
current
situation?
We are aware that 2020 has thrown a few curve balls our way,
however we aren't going to give up!
We aim to find alternative ways of approaching this project
If you are interested, please contact the current leads:
sophie.harrison@yorksj.ac.uk and hannah.cook2@yorksj.ac.uk
Both are 3rd years, who study Education Studies and English
Language
Don't be afraid to ask any questions!
If possible, please start looking to sort out a DBS certificate and this is
the only thing needed to take part inYSEN.
