3. Procedures for Registered
baggage
• Security Screening:
Passenger’s registered baggage required to undergo
security screening or scanning before or after check in
process.
Security screening after check in also called ‘inline’
screening.
Suspicious baggage gets segregate from the machine
itself for further verification whereas before check in
process, manual security screening does by the
concerned staff.
All these process done through X-ray machine and
supervised and controlled by particular airline
security.

4. Check In:
• Check in process of registered baggage includes verifying
the size, weight etc.
• Restriction of weight and size limit varies airline to
airline.
• If any passenger carries additional weight apart from free
baggage Allowance, they have to pay excess baggage
charge.
• A baggage tag generates from check in counter by the
check in staff after verifying security screening sticker or
stamp, weight etc. and stick on the baggage.
• Baggage tag contains details mainly name of the
passenger, total weight, departure and arrival
destinations, date, flight number, baggage tag no. etc.

5. BMA (Baggage Make up Area)
• After the baggage clearance from check in counter
it gets release to BMA through conveyor belt.
• All the checked in baggage one by one reaches the
BMA and the concerned staff categories the baggage
as per departure by verifying the baggage tag
details and further load it into the baggage
container.
• All Baggage’s get shifted to the particular aircraft as
per destination and load it into the baggage
compartment located on the belly part of the
aircraft fuselage through conveyor belt.

6. BBA (Baggage Break up Area)
• After arrival of an aircraft all the checked in baggage’s gets
offloaded from baggage compartment and to be shifted to BBA.
• All baggage’s get released from BBA to arrival hall at the airport
terminal building one by one.
• For international arrival all registered baggage gets scanned by
customs authority at screening point located in between BBA and
arrival hall.
• There is no customs screening required if it is a domestic arrival.

7. Green Channel and Red Channel
• These are two areas available in the
arrival hall at the customs desk.
• If any passenger carries any valuable or
precious items as per customs regulations,
they have to report to red channel for
declaration and if no items available for
declaration they are permitted to move
towards green channel and further towards
the exit.

8. Procedures for Cabin
Baggage
Check in:
• Passengers need to declare the
cabin baggage at the check in
counter for verification of size
and weight.
• Only a prescribed size and weight
allowed as cabin baggage and
restrictions limit differ from
airline to airline.

9. Security Screening
• All cabin baggage’s need to undergo a specific
security screening for safety and security of the
flight operation.
• There are some listed banned items which
passengers are not permitted to carry on board in
their hand baggage which includes, more than 100
ml bottle spray or perfume, chilly powder, any
weapon etc.
• Security checks on cabin baggage mainly on those
items which may be able to use as a weapon in
flight for endangering safe operation of flights.

10. SLPC
(Secondary
Ladder Point
Check)
SLPC is an additional security check
of passenger’s cabin baggage, if
there is a red or high alert situation
declared by the concerned agency.
Only selected baggage through
surveillance call out for physical
check and verify the content before
passenger board to the aircraft.
