DESIGN FOR LEARNING
What is UDL?
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is the framework that meets the needs of all
learners regardless of race, demographic, gender, individual strengths or weaknesses,
interests, intelligences, or special needs.
The goal of universal design for learning (UDL) framework is to proactively value
diversity such that supports are embedded in instructional materials before a student
needs them (Edyburn, 2013).
Principles of UDL

• Multiple means of Engagement

Demonstrate
• Have a display of digital devices such as tablets, laptops, and
smartboard with digital tools available for exploration
• Have lots of eye catching visuals
• Graphs and Charts to show statistics
• Show a video/slideshow

Differentiation
• All learners need to have access to technology that is up
to date
• All learners are unique and different regardless of age
• All learners should achieve individual academic success
• Students with special needs can be easily accommodated

Attendees can interact digital tools and participate in a mock
assignment which will incorporates the 21st Century Skills:

Mission Statement Belief Statement
Our Mission is that all students achieve academic and personal success. It is
our mission to provide students with meaningful learning experiences that
students will carry with them throughout their academic journey and future
careers. We believe that community and family involvement are crucial to
become successful individuals. Our teachers and staff are highly qualified
and stay up to date with career development and trainings.
Goals

• Gives learners an opportunity to explore areas of future employment

• Allows learners to learn in a hands-on environment in an area that
they enjoy or are interested in depending on their personal likes and
strengths.

• Students are more effective and engaged in learning
• Reduced behavior issues
• Higher GPA
• Parent involvement is more likely to increase
• Graduations rate are higher than non CTE students
• Students are more likely to complete academic courses that are
needed for admission to a university
• More likely to stay in college and be successful
• Increases career readiness
• Those who did not attend college are 95% percent likely to be
working for pay with 2 years of graduating high school (CA
