2. ISTE Standards for Students
ISTE set these standards for students to emphasize the
skills and qualities that we want for students. Standards
that enables them to engage and thrive in a connected,
digital world. Introducing technology in the classroom will
help every student learn 21st century learning skills.

4. • Students take an active role in their learning.
• Students know and recognize the rights and
responsibilities of learning and working in the
digital world.
• Students build knowledge by exploring real-world issues,
developing ideas and pursing solutions.
What the Standards Provide
• Students will be able to use technology designs to create
new, useful and imaginative solutions to solve and identify
problems.
• Students use platforms, tools, styles, foramts and
digital media to communicate clearly and express
themselves creatively.
5. ISTE Teacher Standards
A set of standards developed for teachers. ISTE has
constructed a project call the National Educational
Technology Standards (NETS). This project is part of the
Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers to Use Technology.
These standards are to evaluate the knowledge and
skills that teachers should have.

7. What the Teacher Standards Provide
• Promote, support and model creative and
innovative thinking and inventiveness.
• Customize and personalize learning activities that
address each students diverse learning styles and
abilities using digital tools and resources.
• Communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to
students and parents using a variety of digital age media
• Advocate, model and teach safe, legal and ethical use of digital
information and appropriate technology use.
• Teachers participate in local and global learning to
explore creative applications of technology to improve
student learning.
8. Common Core and Technology
• Technology is becoming more and more advanced as the
days go by. Having technology skills is now apart of the 21st
century learning skills that the Common Core Standards
revolve around.
• Common Core Standards now include and integrate
technology skills.
• NETS-T find it imperative that technology is included in
todays Common Core Standards.
