“Tasting Flight” with Andy Hogan from Bruichladdich Thursday 2nd
April
Bruichladdich is pronounced “brook-laddie” meaning “Shore Bank”- a raised
beach.
Located on the Rinns Peninsular, once part of the Peruvian coast of Arequipa

Scotland. Built in 1881 on Loch Indaal as a state of the art distillery by The
Harvey Brothers of the whisky dynasty family, it has remained unchanged ever
since.
The company philosophy is authenticity, purity and individuality. The Malt
Crusaders; fiercely independent, non-conformist and innovative - the enfant
terrible of the industry.

An Evening with Virginia La Torre Jeker, J.D - US Taxes Monday 6th
April
What Foreigners Should Know About US Taxes -
Dire Warnings and Useful Planning Tips
Virginia is an American attorney specialising in US and international taxation;
she is one of two US tax attorneys in the region. Her talk will focus on US
tax issues relevant to foreign persons including tax consequences that result
when one obtains a green card or citizenship, those that result when trying
to give them up; the US Gift and Estate tax rules that apply to foreigners, tax
problems affecting dual national couples, tax issues arising when a foreigner
purchases US properties, or expands a foreign business into the US.
In her practice Virginia has found that many people are completely unaware of
the significant impact of the broad-reaching US tax rules and this is especially
true in the foreign area. The topics she will discuss are those most frequently
encountered with her Middle East clients.

An Evening with Giancarlo Fisichella Wednesday 22nd
April
Fresh from competing at the China Grand Prix on 19th
April on his way to the Bahrain Grand Prix on 24th
April, Giancarlo Fisichella and his manager will be stopping over in Dubai to spend an evening with Capital
Club members.
Giancarlo and his manager will mingle with members before taking the stage to tell us more about the latest
news from the glamorous world of Formula One. Giancarlo and his manager will also share their thoughts
on the new rules that have shaken Formula One recently.
Formula One teams have been outraged by radical new changes forced through, claiming they will destroy
“the very essence” of the sport. Among the most contentious rules agreed to by the FIA recently is the move
to award the world championship to the driver with the most race wins for the year rather than the most
points, starting at this month’s season-opening Australian Grand Prix. Another controversial change is a
drastically slashed budget suggested for teams, which will be voluntary although those who comply will be
given greater design freedom and could thus become more competitive.
Fisichella has won three races in his career to date, the first of which was at the chaotic 2003 Brazilian Grand
Prix, a race abandoned for safety reasons with 15 laps remaining. After much confusion regarding rules and
technicalities (which lasted for several days) Fisichella was eventually declared the winner in the following
week and collected his trophy in an unorthodox ceremony at the following race. He was brought in to the
Renault team to replace fellow Italian Jarno Trulli and won his first race with the team in Australia in 2005.

Emirates NBD Pearl MuseumThursday 14th
May
Join fellow members to visit the NBD Pearl Museum. Since its inception in 2003, it has received
thousands of local, regional and international delegations from business, government and student
bodies who were all fascinated with the glamour and beauty of its collection.
The Museum is dedicated to Sultan Ali Al Owais, the late Chairman of National Bank of Dubai, an
Emirates NBD Company, and his wish to display this priceless collection of natural Gulf Pearls as a
tribute to the citizens of the UAE and the Gulf at large. He donated his pearl collection to the people of
the UAE under the custodianship of the National Bank of Dubai. Furthermore, to preserve this heritage
the bank has designed and created a purpose built museum in its headquarters where this collection
is displayed.
Sultan Al Owais kept this priceless collection to nostalgically remember a way of life which has now
vanished from the Gulf. His wish was that the pearls should be available to remind people of the origins
of the Emirates and what life was like before the discovery of oil.
The main objective of the museum is to help preserve the colorful history of the pearl divers and
merchants of Arabia.

Today, the DIFC is the world’s fastest-growing financial centre and is home to more than 800 companies,

Capital EVENTS 13 Cooking Class An Evening with Giancarlo Fisichella Wednesday 22nd April Fresh from competing at the China Grand Prix on 19th April on his way to the Bahrain Grand Prix on 24th April, Giancarlo Fisichella and his manager will be stopping over in Dubai to spend an evening with Capital Club members. Giancarlo and his manager will mingle with members before taking the stage to tell us more about the latest news from the glamorous world of Formula One. Giancarlo and his manager will also share their thoughts on the new rules that have shaken Formula One recently. Formula One teams have been outraged by radical new changes forced through, claiming they will destroy “the very essence” of the sport. Among the most contentious rules agreed to by the FIA recently is the move to award the world championship to the driver with the most race wins for the year rather than the most points, starting at this month’s season-opening Australian Grand Prix. Another controversial change is a drastically slashed budget suggested for teams, which will be voluntary although those who comply will be given greater design freedom and could thus become more competitive. Fisichella has won three races in his career to date, the first of which was at the chaotic 2003 Brazilian Grand Prix, a race abandoned for safety reasons with 15 laps remaining. After much confusion regarding rules and technicalities (which lasted for several days) Fisichella was eventually declared the winner in the following week and collected his trophy in an unorthodox ceremony at the following race. He was brought in to the Renault team to replace fellow Italian Jarno Trulli and won his first race with the team in Australia in 2005. Date: Wednesday 22nd April Time: 7.00pm - 9.00pm Venue: The Signature Lounge Dress: Smart Casual Price: AED 195.00 per person inclusive of selected canapés and beverages RSVP: events@capitalclubdubai.com An Evening With... Since its inception in 2003, it has received thousands of local, regional and international delegations from business, government and student bodies who were all fascinated with the glamour and beauty of its collection. The Museum is dedicated to Sultan Ali Al Owais, the late Chairman of National Bank of Dubai, an Emirates NBD Company, and his wish to display this priceless collection of natural Gulf Pearls as a tribute to the citizens of the UAE and the Gulf at large. He donated his pearl collection to the people of the UAE under the custodianship of the National Bank of Dubai. Furthermore, to preserve this heritage the bank has designed and created a purpose built museum in its headquarters where this collection is displayed. Sultan Al Owais kept this priceless collection to nostalgically remember a way of life which has now vanished from the Gulf. His wish was that the pearls should be available to remind people of the origins of the Emirates and what life was like before the discovery of oil. The main objective of the museum is to help preserve the colorful history of the pearl divers and merchants of Arabia.
