1. The document outlines a 4 stage plan to design a double page magazine spread, beginning with adding a black background layer and primary photograph to the left page.
2. In stage 2, the photographer edited the photo, added a "contents" header and photo credits to establish it as a contents page spread across two pages.
3. Stage 3 involved adding page numbers and a separating line between the numbers and text.
4. The final stage was adding the textual content and emphasizing certain points for reader attention. An alternate version was deemed too abstract and inconsistent with the magazine's style.
2. Stage 1
1. I opened
photoshop and
made a solid black
colour layer.
I then added a photo
of my subject, I’d
decided upon having a
photo covering most
of the left page.
After researching
contents pages I found
many 2 page contents
pages. So chose to
make my contents
page cover 2 A4
pages.
3. Stage 2
2. I edited the
photograph, added
a ‘contents’ header
and added the
photographic rights
text to the bottom
right. I purposely
lowered the
opacity of the title
to not try and
remove the
emphasis on the
main focal point.
4. Stage 3
3. I added the page
numberings and a
thin white
rectangular line to
separate the page
numbers and text.
5. Stage 4
4. I added the text
and changed certain
parts of the text for
emphasis, this
attracts the reader to
the specific focal
point / emphasised
points.
6. Alternate Version
This was an alternate
contents page.
After finishing I
came to the
conclusion that It
was too abstract
from the rest of
the magazine, It
didn’t follow the
colour scheme
(par the darker
blue) and the art
style was
completely
different.
