1. EVALUATION QUESTION
6
What have you learned about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
2. 1) Blogger
From the beginning of September when the term started
we where introduced to the Blogger website.
Blogger allows us to keep a day to day account of things
we have been taught in Media almost like a diary.
Had I not taken Media Studies as an option in A Level, I
would not have had the chance to use blogger, and I
have learnt a variety of skills from using it such as
embedding links, inserting pictures and how to lay out
work appropriately
3. 2) MAC OS
I was very uncomfortable at the start of the academic
year in regards to using the MAC. It seemed so different
to what I’m used to (windows xp). So I had to adapt to it
and I began to learn its functions.
It is a very good operating system with a easy user
interface, it has many shortcuts by using the ‘command’
or ‘shift’ button.
Once I got used to it, I realised why it is so popular. It
helped me with my thriller because it provides many
applications that are not seen on other computers
4. 3) Final Cut Express
Final Cut Express is an application on the MAC used to
edit footage from a camera.
This obviously helped a lot with my Thriller as I could
add diegetic and non diegetic sounds to my Thriller. I
was also able to make short, quick scenes adding to the
key conventions of a Thriller.
At first, it was a real struggle trying to get used to how to
use Final Cut but with patience, I began to understand.
5. 4) YouTube
YouTube was incredibly helpful on my path to making a
Thriller. I was able to watch the legendary Alfred
Hitchcock techniques here and adapt it to my own
Thriller.
I also uploaded preliminary tasks and did test runs and
edited it to see what it would look like before my final
Thriller. I did this because YouTube is global and people
could add comments to tell me how to improve my
Thriller.
6. 5) Survey Monkey
On Survey Monkey, it allows you to make questionnaires
for the public and get a response from anyone.
I used Survey Monkey before and after making my
Media product. I first used it to see what people look for
in a Thriller so that I could be successful and then I used
it again to see if my Thriller had met the requirements
from the previous survey.
7. 6) Digital Camera and Tripod
In the lessons leading up to our Media
product, me and my group had various activities
that helped us to learn how to use the camera
and tripod such as our preliminary exercise.
When using the tripod, we learnt how to use
different angles such as low shot, mid shot etc.
We also learnt shots such as tracking and a pan
shot. After all these successful attempts at using
the tripod it made us ready for our real Thriller.
When using the camera in early activities we
learnt how to get maximum effect from a zoom
shot and also a track shot which helped us later
in our Thriller.
