TYPE OF PRODUCTION
3. Tyler (23), is at a park writing lyrics on a notepad. He fiddles with his pen
whilst thinking. An incredibly pretty girl, Niambh (21) walks up to him. He
notices her and smirks. He tries to flirt with her, but ends up failing. He
fiddles with his pen and clicks it out of frustration. As he clicks the pen, he
goes back in time to him sitting on the bench and writing his lyrics. He looks
down at his pen, confused. Niambh approaches him again, he then finds a
better way to flirt with her and every time he fails, he goes back in time with a
click of a pen. She then makes a comment about his scruffy appearance (his
clothes). He uses his pen and clicks it transporting him back to a minute ago.
He then clicks it repeatedly and ends up at his house. He changes his clothes
into smart wear and opens up his laptop to search Niambh on Facebook. He
learns as much as he can about her and leaves for the park. When Niambh
approaches him again, he knows what to say and talks to her with more
sophisticated language. As he continues chatting her up for a while, another
girl approaches them. Niambh introduces her Tamia as her girlfriend.
OVERVIEW
4. - The genre of our production is comedy drama. Popular films
of this genre include:
The Truman Show (1998)
Juno (2007)
The Breakfast Club (1985)
- All these films contain comedy as well as drama and link well to
what we aspire to achieve with our production.
GENRE
5. -Our production is targeted at ages 12-30. this is
because, although the content is suitable for other ages,
it can be better understood and be relatable to 12-30
year olds.
-Our production is not aimed at a specific gender
because the genre of our production- comedy drama-
appeals to both genders equally. However as the main
character in our production is male, and the narrative is
from his point of view, more males will be able to relate
to the protagonist
TARGET AUDIENCE
6. Our production will be published on the following websites:
-Blogger
-Facebook
-Twitter
-YouTube
-As a group, we can make usage of Blogger to promote our production on our
group blog. Blogs are becoming more and more popular and are a great way to
promote our product online.
-Our production can also be promoted on popular social media applications such
as Facebook and Twitter. In this technological era, people use social networking
sites on a daily basis which makes it easy for us to promote our production
worldwide for free.
-YouTube is one of our main ways to promote our production, as the whole film
will be available on the site. This website allows us to get our production across to
a wide variety of audiences which will therefore increase its popularity.
PROMOTION AND PUBLICATION
7. Our final product could be represented as countertypical as in
most comedy dramas, there is a happy ending for the protagonist.
However in our short film ‘click’, the protagonist doesn’t get the
girl, but rather finds out she is a lesbian.
However it could also be seen as stereotypical as it is based on a
male trying to get the attention of a female. Also, although the
main character doesn’t ‘get the girl’, the fact that our production
is a comedy justifies the loss of the protagonist as it has a comical
aspect.
REPRESENTATION
8. One of the films that really influenced our production is ‘One
minute time machine’ which is a short film entered in the Sploid
short film festival. We developed the idea of time travel into our
production to give it a USP in which it included elements of sci-
fi, whilst being a comedy drama. We also got the idea of an
element of romance to add in our production as the short film
has the man trying to impress a girl but failing numerous times.
PRODUCT INFLUENCES
9. Constraint Description
Money As a group, we need to purchase several props for our
short film which may add up to be expensive. For
example, we need a pen that looks ancient for the time
machine.
Time Management Time management is a key constraint to look out for
because the sooner filming starts, the more footage we
have to be able to edit and spend time on. This means
that our actors as well as group members will have to
arrive on time and complete filming the scenes we plan
for each day.
Equipment And Props Props are essential to set the mise-en-scene of our film
as we want it to have good verisimilitude. Furthermore,
equipment such as the camera and tripod are heavy to
carry and need to be taken care of when travelling to
and from our different locations.
