6. ROPE ACCESS
Rope Access techniques provide a cost effective alternative to traditional access methods, such
as scaffolding or mobile elevated working platforms. Using work-positioning techniques,
industrial rope access is a proven method of achieving a safe work position at height or in areas
of difficult access.
The Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) rope systems have an exemplary safely
standard globally, based on a commitment to thorough training and diligent operating
procedures. Utilising our IRATA approved systems, all inspection and maintenance works can be
carried out quickly and safely with minimal disruption to other services.

17. Tank calibration and survey capabilities remain a critical requirement for the energy and marine sectors, in
both onshore and offshore environments. Reliable quantity measurement is critical in worldwide trading
and can only be assured by accurate and regular calibration.
The storage of hazardous materials poses risks to both the local community and the environment.
Leakages from storage tanks such as oil, gas or chemicals can be influenced by external surface weather,
or internal temperature variations, and can prove problematic and costly to ameliorate. Periodic
inspection, surveys and calibration will help isolate potential issues, eliminating the likelihood of such
occurrences.
Global Remote provides technical calibration and surveys to ensure a storage tank’s compliance with the
required international and local standards, codes and client specifications.
TANK CALIBRATION & SURVEYS
18. WHAT IS TANK CALIBRATION?
Tank calibration is the science of determining the exact true volume of a containment system
corresponding to a certain measurement value. Reliable quantity measurement is the critical in
worldwide trading and this can only be assured by accurate and regular calibration as per ISO 7507-3 &
4/API MPMS 2.2C & 2.2D for vertical cylindrical tank, API 2551 for horizontal tank & API 2552 for
spheres and spheroids
OTHER SURVEYS OFFERS FOR STORAGE TANKS

23. SHELL OUT OF ROUNDNESS SURVEY
Reference shell (1st course) circumference will be taken
as per API MPMS 2.2A method, along a horizontal plane
to have the mean outer diameter of the tank at bottom
course
The total survey points shall be minimum sixteen (16) in
numbers, with spacing between the survey points not be
exceeding a circumferential distance of 10 meter.
Each course will be surveyed for roundness at two
levels, and each level will be at a distance 1/4th – 1/5th
of the course height, from upper or lower horizontal
seam weld.

24. TANK TILT / VERTICALITY SURVEY
Tank verticality check shall be performed to find out
maximum out-of plumpness of the top shell to the bottom
shell. The same settlement measurement point we will be
used for tank verticality check.
All station points are positioned equally around the
circumference, from where Laser Total Station is used to
obtain vertical measurement readings at two heights for
each strake
All data are extensively analysed to output various data
required for determining tank tilt, offset graphs for
adjacent and opposite stations

25. TANK SHELL SETTLEMENT EVALUATION
The Tank Shell Settlement graph plots the adjusted settlement. Calculated using the “0 meters” floor
profile survey data. This graph follows the procedure described in API standard 653 B.2.2.4. And B.3.2
to calculate the plane of rigid tilt and the out-of-plane settlement.
Using the out-of-plane settlement values, the out-of-plane deflection is calculated for the nominated
stations (all the station in this case) and the station having the greatest out-of-plane settlement must be
included in the evaluation of out-of-plane deflection.
Calculation:
The max Permissible settlement value is
calculated as shown
L = arc length between measurement points
Y = yield strength (constant value)
E = Young’s modulus (constant value)
H = tank height
Smax, ft = (L² × Y × 11)
2[(E×H)
Smax = ± XXX mm
