Choosing A Career
With the demands of a constantly evolving market and career field, companies and employers have began to seek more and more college degreed
employees. Which has lead to universities being the foundation in creating these degreed specialties, but what critical role do universities play in
developing robust employees? Universities are the building blocks in creating knowledgeable employees in which can develop, adapt, and evolve to

employees. By educating undergraduates on a variety of skills like; communication, problem solving, and collaboration skills, provides them the

"A capacity to collaborate with others and work with a diverse population, a sensitivity to ethical problems, a strong self–discipline ...are all important
aims of a liberal education.." (Bok 342) With universities liberal programs focusing on team building exercise and cooperative communication
skills, provides undergraduates the resource to solve more complex conflicts within a team. Allowing the sharing of information with fellow
colleagues and expanding their knowledge within the work field to multiple areas. With these cooperative communication skills, undergraduates
and employees will find themselves gaining far more experience and knowledge upon their area with addition to more critical learning. In addition
universities incorporations of liberal art classes, allows the generalization of multiple career fields and knowledge to expand within those areas,
especially for undergraduates who are still undecided in which field to pursue. "Many undergraduates who plan to move directly to a job and know
what sort of job they want still seek a liberal art degree." (Bok 342). By allowing students to participate in liberal art class, allows a generalization
study to later be condensed into a specific area, creates a wide array of knowledge at the undergraduates disposal. With the ability to have skills within
multiple areas, create a spectrum of

Essay about Choosing a Right Career Path
Choosing a right career path can be tough. Especially, when the parents are involved. Parents want their children to have a better life in the future
so they want their children to be educated. When they are successfully graduate from the college they can get a high paying job and earn much
more than their parents. However, does everyone listen and follow their parents' decisions about the career? What happen if kids didn't want what
their parents told them to do? Is there a compromise and or one side needs to give in? It was a tough decision for me too. There was a lot of
pressure on me. I was hesitated and somehow worried when my parents were involved, but I knew what I want for my career. It was the last summer I
spent with my high...show more content...
My explanation somehow did not work well. I started struggling between my career and my father's "career". Before it was too late to decide my
major, I gave a chance for myself and picked something related to my future career. Before I told my parents I had decided to be a graphic designer, I
did a little research on the job. It was good, but required lots experiences to get in a decent game company like Riot. But I did not stick with one job. I
also heard of 3D modeling, programming and animation were good choices for me and I liked them too. I decided to go to City Tech College for four
years education in Emerging Media major and I hoped I could get a job I like to do. According to the article "As Income Gap Widens, New York
Grows Apart" written by James Parrott, college educated young workers' earning has fallen 6% since 1990. And it's false that those who pursuehigher
education and skills can get a higher economic reword. Everything is competitive now; the value of education does not count toward our future
income earning. I realize that even if I graduated from the college there was higher chance I would not have a job or a job that I did not expect and
paid very low. However, I do like what I do right now in my major class. I think if you did what you want and be happy with it, it doesn't matter how
low you get paid you still fulfill in your life. After exploring some my major classes in my first semester in

The Choice Of A Career Essay
For many students, contemplation about what field they would like to work in begins much earlier than their senior year of high school and first
year of college. From early childhood, people are asked what they would like to be when they grow up. An understanding develops that that what is
chosen as the individual's profession will be so deeply integrated with their identity that the two will hardly ever be recognized separately. "The
choice of a career is a highly significant process that plays a major role in shaping people 's aspirations, concerns, and action" (Malach–Pines
&Yafe–Yanai, 1999, p. 503). This understanding makes choosing a major a deeply personal and profound question for each individual. "It is one of
the most significant choices made by people growing up in Western cultures with many attempting to find through their careers a sense of existential
significance for their entire life" (p. 503). To make a thoughtful and thorough decision may be too overwhelming for some students, leading to a
knee–jerk selection, that the student will ultimately change at least once. "The choice of a career is a complex and multi–faceted process including all
the spheres of a person 's life" (p. 503) and it can be difficult for a traditional student, at the approximate age of 18, to understand just how far
reaching the effects of this decision can be. Or perhaps they do understand and feel paralyzed by the fear of making the wrong choice.

Career Reflection Essay
Olivia McCarthy Foundations for Learning September 9, 2010 Reflection Paper #1 Upon being asked about my future, I have always been met
with anxiety and fear of such unknown. Growing up, as more and more of my peers developed their specific interests and even revealed desired career
choices, I only felt lost in terms of what I wished to purse. I found that I was easily overwhelmed if I allowed myself to read too deeply into the
dreaded "what am I going to do with my life" question. I have come to realize that it is much less anxiety provoking, however, if I view this matter
on a smaller scale. After all, I do have aspirations and goals that I strive to achieve on a short–term basis. With regard to college, a top priority of mine

As well as focusing on academics, I also believe that in the future I will expand my social experiences. Familiarizing myself with diversity and
broadening my horizons is in my opinion important to act upon. For example, as I embark on the Study Abroad program here at Bryant during my
"Sophomore Year Experience" or as I travel after college, I see myself meeting new and exciting people (whether from Spain, Europe, Australia,
etc) who can educate me in how their government is run, school systems are set up and overall what it's like to live in a place that is so much
different from my home. In turn, I will be able to do the same for them. Around the end of my sophomore year, I see myself narrowing down a
career choice. After taking many different courses during previous years here at Bryant, I see that I finally figure out my purpose and I am confident
with my specific decision. As this realization hits, I see myself getting into and working hard in graduate school in order to further my studies before
entering the work force. Upon choosing a career I see myself with a comfortable income, independent, in a very positive disposition. After I am able to
be financially stable and independent, I see myself meeting my future life partner and settling down. I see this person as being not only my romantic
partner, but also my best friend and most reliable support system. Starting a healthy, comfortable family would

Choosing a Career Essay
My whole life I have always wanted to do something where people will remember me. I went threw millions of career choices before I came to the
conclusion of a nurse. It's not something that will get me into History books, but its something where all the people I help will remember what I did
to care for them or their loved ones. My mom went to school to become and RN, but dropped out when she became pregnant with me. After that
story was told to me, I didn't want to be anything related to nursing. It wasn't until my step mom went to school to be LPN that I realized it would be
possible for me to do. I saw how much happiness it gave her, and I want the same thing. She loved helping the patients by treating them, and helping

It is a program that is based on the health career field, especially nursing. I have this course for three classes a day and it takes up most of my
school day. These classes have given me invaluable information and training that will be very useful in my collage courses. My volunteer work at the
Veterans Hospital will also help me with becoming a RN because it is sort of like on–the–job training. I get to experience working with patients, in a
real hospital setting. My step mom has lots of her old nursing books from her LPN training. I frequently look into them to help me with my
Diversified Health Occupations homework, and sometime just to see how something works, or is done. Everyone knows that health careers tend to
make a decent amount of money, but according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, "the average amount of money that an RN makes is between
$47,710 and $69,850" (Registered Nurses). You typically work about fifty to sixty hours a week, on a normal shift. Meaning, 7a.m. to 3p.m., 3 p.m.
to11 p.m. and 11p.m–7a.m. During your shift you will have to treat patients, educate the patient on how to care for themselves properly, provide
assistance and emotional support for the patients and the families of the patients, administer medication, provide rehabilitation, use medical
machinery, record symptoms and medical history, as well as do follow up follow up records. As I learned from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, RN's

Choosing A Career Essay
Choosing a Career: Reaching my pursuit of happiness
Finding a career is a long process for some people, but it comes naturally to others. Everyone ponders about what they want to be when you're in
kindergarten, when your imagination is running wild and every possibility is an actuality. As I have matured, I realized what career I choose is
something that I love and will enjoy doing for the rest of my life which for me is to be a physical therapist. My career choice didn't cross my mind
until my senior year. Other kids would always talk about becoming a cop, a doctor, and silly things like a billionaire. I was growing and learning to find
myself. My interests and hobbies became more prominent and it got me to realize later in my teen years...show more content...
I'm not limited, I can help elderly people who have problems from aging. Teenage athletes who dedicate themselves to their sport and injured
themselves. I want the ability to help people who have been through an accident and help to rehabilitate them. I want them to feel safe with me and
give them the attention and therapy they need. I don't want it to feel like a job, but as a reward or gift I can give to people. I have a system that I
want to follow to reach my goal. First, I have to graduate from high school. I want to get my basics done first which should take about two years at
Amarillo College. I have a plan A and a plan B. My first choice is to move in with my brother. Buy a house with him, and help pay the rent while I
work at the same time. My plan B is to stay with my parents and drive to Dumas or to Amarillo to take my classes. I want to work at the same time
so I can have the extra money to pay for my bills. I'm paying for my school myself, but I will very likely get help from my parents and my brother.
Once I finish with my basics, I will then transfer to West Texas A&M or to Oklahoma Panhandle State University. As much as I want to graduate and
move far away, I know that it's not very beneficial to me financially. I want to take things slow and get my life together. Being a physical therapist is
a very important job. I have to learn how to create or choose different approaches to assist different injuries of different
