1. Racism in Australia
Australia is a sovereign and well-known country. Generally in Australia, we all get along pretty
well and feel good about this society. In the article “Travelogue: In the Land of No Worries” by
Fakrul Alam, nailed Australia clearly. First of all, he describes Australia positively but in the
chapter “race relations” Alam said, “Australia is beautiful but of course, it isn’t paradise.” He
comments this on Australia because he and his wife become victims of Australian racism.
When they visited Canberra and Queensland they saw racism. Some white immigrants behaved
extreme cruelty and apartheid against the Aboriginals. In the chapter “Xmas Day, 2005” Alam
said that Australia’s weather is too hot and the vegetation not quite right. People thought that
Australia is a very liberal country but in reality, there is also inequality, race. So sometimes Asian,
African, or Chinese immigrants' lives become so alienated. Native people do not want to mix with
other people. They are not fully multicultural people. But nowadays Australian governments try
to remove racism, distinction and hate from other nations. Australian people make jokes about
brown people. Australian people have a mind set up that is us and them.
