INTRODUCTION
• Vehicle-To-Vehicle (V2V) is an automobile technology
designed to allow automobiles to "talk" to each
other i.e., to communicate with each other
• It is worked on base of Dedicated Short Range
Communications(DSRC)

• This systems are an emerging types of
networks in which vehicles and roadside units
are the communicating nodes
• To provide each other as information, such as
safety warning and traffic information.
• Generally vehicular networks are considered
to contain two types of nodes:
– vehicle to vehicle (V2V)
– vehicle to Roadside (V2R)

• Mainly it is motivated by ITS(Intelligent Transport
System)
• According to World Health Organizations (WHO), road
accidents annually cause approximately 1.2 million
deaths worldwide
• Also about 50 million persons are injured in traffic
accidents
• Western Europe a mere 5 km/h decrease in average
vehicle speeds could result in 25% decrease in deaths
• V2V is nothing about full mesh topology. In a full mesh
topology, each network node is connected directly to
each of the others

DSRC
• DSRC is a multi-channel wireless standard that based
on the IEEE 802.11a PHY and the IEEE 802.11 MAC.
• It is targeted to operate over a 75 MHz licensed
spectrum in the 5.9 GHz band
• It is designed to facilitate communication at
distances of up to 1 km.

• The new tech combines Wi-Fi and GPS to
create a new form of communication known
as DSRC.
• The data exchanged may include a vehicle’s
position, speed, steering angle, brake status,
turn signal status, number of people in the
vehicle, etc.

making each vehicle a
node on the network.
• Bandwidth:75MHz (5.850
–5.925GHz)
• Modulation : QPSK OFDM
• Channels:7 channels
• Data Rate:1-54Mbps
• Max Range:1000m
• Min. Separation:10m

VANET
• Vehicle Ad hoc Networking
• VANET is a technology that enables communication
over multiple wireless hubs, but not necessarily
including roadside access points.
• VANET integrates on multiple ad-hoc networking
technologies such as WiFi IEEE 802.11p, WAVE IEEE
1609, WiMAX IEEE 802.16, Bluetooth etc

• The onboard sensors readings displayed to the
drivers via monitors to be aware of the vehicle
condition or emergency alarms, and also can
be broadcasted to the other adjacent vehicles.

• To reduce the accidents.

• To help others in making their drive comfort.

V2V FOR SAFETY
• By exchanging anonymous: over vehicle-based
data regarding position, speed, and location
• Enables a vehicles to:
– Sense threats and hazard with a 360 degree
awareness of the position of other vehicles
– Issue driver advisories or warnings
– Take preventive actions to avoid and mitigate
crashes.

1.Hazard Warning
• Vehicles that are in a traffic jam and turned on
their hazard warning lights, communicate this
information back to other vehicles.
• Information is much more accurate and
reaches upcoming traffic.

2.Accident Warning
• If vehicles involved in an accident are
equipped with short-range communication,
they can send out a warning message to the
following traffic e.g. to avoid mass collisions.
• If the driver fails to take action, the V2V
system could automatically apply the brakes
to stop the car.

3.Emergency Vehicle Warning
• Approaching emergency vehicles send out a warning
message to warn vehicles that are in its vicinity
• Receiving vehicles can automatically mute the radio
or the hands free-phone and give an audible or visual
warning message to the driver

4.Traffic Signal violation Warning
• Vehicles can be warned about an imminent change
of a traffic light and if they are in danger of running a
red light
• Traffic lights can send out their timing and phase to
prevent red light violations and potential accidents

The main features are
• Speed of the vehicle
• Break status
• Path history
• Path indication

The other features are:
• It gives the indication in the form of vibrating the
seat, voice or display. It specifies the features for
a range of 1000m
• The personal information will not be revealed
• Emergency electronic break light warning(if there
is sudden braking from the front vehicle)
• Blind spot warning
• Signal timing and phase are known

• Road weather indications
• The weather data will be collected from the
drivers and will be sent to TMC’s and then the
operates specify about the weather of the roads
• With the help of this systems people can know
the traffic updates from the home easily
• If there is any car crashes ,police activities or
ambulance activities are present people can
know it from V2V so that they can give way for
them

ADVANTAGES
• By this technology, people’s drive will be more
comfortable and easier
• The case of accidents will be very less
• Any problem occurred by one in driving will be
informed to others so they can be aware of it
while driving

DISADVANTAGES
• Any small occur in the working of V2V will
leads to the total disturbance of the one’s
driving
• Some times signals given by it will not be
correct

FUTURE
• At present, development of first generation of
V2V systems is underway. Function of these
systems is limited only up to giving warning to the
driver. However, these systems are unable to take
any corrective action in the input given by the
driver
• The second generation of Vehicle to Vehicle
systems would be able to take control of the
vehicle in danger and provide the corrective
action. These systems would ultimately merge
with the autonomous driving technology

CONCLUSION
• The technology of the V2V is one of the boon
to the automobile industry and the people.
• As if now it is a prototype. It will be more
easier and helpful once it came to existence
for the people for their smooth drive
experience.

  • 3. INTRODUCTION • Vehicle-To-Vehicle (V2V) is an automobile technology designed to allow automobiles to "talk" to each other i.e., to communicate with each other • It is worked on base of Dedicated Short Range Communications(DSRC) 11/3/2020 3PSG COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY

Contd.. • This systems are an emerging types of networks in which vehicles and roadside units are the communicating nodes • To provide each other as information, such as safety warning and traffic information. • Generally vehicular networks are considered to contain two types of nodes: – vehicle to vehicle (V2V) – vehicle to Roadside (V2R) 11/3/2020 4PSG COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY

Contd.. • Mainly it is motivated by ITS(Intelligent Transport System) • According to World Health Organizations (WHO), road accidents annually cause approximately 1.2 million deaths worldwide • Also about 50 million persons are injured in traffic accidents • Western Europe a mere 5 km/h decrease in average vehicle speeds could result in 25% decrease in deaths • V2V is nothing about full mesh topology. DSRC • DSRC is a multi-channel wireless standard that based on the IEEE 802.11a PHY and the IEEE 802.11 MAC. • It is targeted to operate over a 75 MHz licensed spectrum in the 5.9 GHz band • It is designed to facilitate communication at distances of up to 1 km. 11/3/2020 6PSG COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY

V2V FOR SAFETY • By exchanging anonymous: over vehicle-based data regarding position, speed, and location • Enables a vehicles to: – Sense threats and hazard with a 360 degree awareness of the position of other vehicles – Issue driver advisories or warnings – Take preventive actions to avoid and mitigate crashes. 11/3/2020 12PSG COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY

  • 14. 2.Accident Warning • If vehicles involved in an accident are equipped with short-range communication, they can send out a warning message to the following traffic e.g. to avoid mass collisions. • If the driver fails to take action, the V2V system could automatically apply the brakes to stop the car. 11/3/2020 14PSG COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY
  • 15. 3.Emergency Vehicle Warning • Approaching emergency vehicles send out a warning message to warn vehicles that are in its vicinity • Receiving vehicles can automatically mute the radio or the hands free-phone and give an audible or visual warning message to the driver 11/3/2020 15PSG COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY

  • 22. FUTURE • At present, development of first generation of V2V systems is underway. Function of these systems is limited only up to giving warning to the driver. However, these systems are unable to take any corrective action in the input given by the driver • The second generation of Vehicle to Vehicle systems would be able to take control of the vehicle in danger and provide the corrective action.
