• A magazine is generally a publication which
consists of different articles, images, symbols
and illustrations etc.
• The first magazines were published as early as
1663 in Germany.
• The first general interest magazine was
published in the 1700s in England, it was called
‘The Gentleman’s magazine’
3. Different types of magazines
There are three types of magazines:
• Consumer
• Trade
• Professional and in-house.
4. Consumer Magazines
Consumer magazines are magazines aimed at the
public. These magazines are distributed free of
charge or sold according to the marketing goals
of the publisher.
5. Trade Magazines
Trade magazines also known as trade journals
are magazines intended for people part of a trade
or industry. Its purpose is to keep members of a
trade updated of new developments.
6. In house Magazines
In house magazines are made by a
specific organization for its
employees and deals with subjects
related to the organization.
