This document proposes creating a blog post for Nina and Pinta Caravels about the ships' sails. The blog post would educate elementary and middle school students, parents, and teachers through information, photos, and videos about the material, construction, and function of the sails. It aims to increase website traffic and brand awareness, engaging readers and driving them to track the ships' locations in hopes of increasing tourism and profits when the ships are nearby areas. The blog would extend Nina and Pinta Caravels' storytelling across their existing social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

Nina and Pinta Caravels Creative Brief
Nina and Pinta Caravels
Story Concept
The story concept for Nina and Pinta Caravels is to create a blog post about the ship's sails. It
will include information about the material the sails are made of, how they are made, and how
they function. The post will contain photos of the boat with the sails open. It will also include
videos of the crew opening the sails and the ship moving through the water with only wind
power. It connects to their brand story by giving readers a better understanding of sails. The
video of the sail being let down will give the audience a look into how long and how many
people it takes to let each sail down. This connects to their other storytelling methods. On Nina
and Pinta Caravels Instagram and Facebook, they have photos of the ship with the sails. On
Facebook, they have a couple of videos of the boat powered by the wind in the sail.
Connection to Target Market
Nina and Pinta Caravels' target market is elementary and middle school students, parents, and
teachers. The blog post will teach them interesting facts and information about one of the main
parts of the ship. Including photos and videos about the ships will make a fun learning
experience for the readers. Teachers can use information from the blog in their classrooms
when teaching about Christopher Columbus. The history of 15th
Century tall ships is what draws
people to this story. It educates people in an unforgettable, unique way that brings history to
life.
Goal of Blog
The blog will be a new page on their website. The short-term goal of the blog is to increase
website traffic and raise brand awareness by creating engaging educational posts about tall
ships and sailing. Readers will be able to track where the ships are at any time so that when
they are near the reader’s area, they will want to come to tour the tall ships. This will lead to
increased profit for the company because more people will know about the ships and when
they are nearby.
Social Media
Nina and Pinta Caravels post photos of the ships and short videos of their journey to ports
across the country on Instagram and Facebook. Creating blog posts is an extension of these
2. other platforms. Readers will gain into the history of the ships, maintenance of the ships, and
what daily life is like on tall ships. Blog post links posted on their Facebook and Instagram
accounts will also help drive traffic to the site.
Summary
I chose a blog over other social media because Nina and Pinta Caravels currently use Facebook,
Instagram, and a website to promote their business and post the tour schedule. They do not
have a blog, and I believe this is the best way to increase brand awareness and drive traffic to
their site. Creating a blog post with information, photos, and videos with information about the
sails will educate and engage the readers. Having an interactive map that lets visitors see where
the ships are in real-time will keep them coming back to the site to see if you are near their
area. Having invested time to follow where the ships have been and are headed, along with
learning the history of the boats, will make them want to tour the ships when they are near the
reader's area, which will increase profit.
